Hey man, just found your channel, and I'm loving the relatable content with the restoration jobs. I'm in the process of bringing a 50 year old laser up to speed, and I can really feel your freedom and commitment. Love the content, and the moth looks like some real good fun.
I once hit a carp with my ilca. My first thought was that I hit ground until I saw that massive fish appear that I knocket flat out. I can't imagine how it feels with a fast boad like a moth. Probably like a plain crash. Anyway - great video!
What a video Tom! Some great drone footage. Is that from a dji mini or something? I didn't realise how heavy carp can get. Hopefully the carp you hit have an eternal sleep. - less for more people to run into. I was scared when you started sinking! You did well to get in! I enjoyed the vlogging video style. So many issues that come up! That pastie sure looked delicious! Great video Tom, I look forward to the next one!
Thanks Finn, apparently the Carp overseas get even bigger! Yeah, its a Mini 3, i got a slightly older model since i figured it might end up getting wet. The pastie was awesome!
@TomStuchberySailing great to hear! You do have to be careful of the downward obstacles sensors over water. Sometimes they can stuff up the height approximation and say your either higher or lower than you actually are. The best way is just to keep line of sight with it. If you get too low to the water it can also go into landing mode as it thinks it is lower than it really is. Just a few things to be vigilant of. Thanks Tom
Never mind Tom! I think you figured that out. That will teach me to watch out the entire video before writing a comment!! Sorry to see the drone take a swim!
Wow carp strikes were not on my list of sailing hazards, though I have hit catfish before in the river. I wonder if thats another reason why nobody sails moths in the Brisbane River clubs, hitting a Bull shark at umteen knots seems like a bad idea.
Boom cam looks really great
Thanks, i agree its a really cool angle!
Wow I so nice to see her up an foiling!!! Can wait to see the next vid
Thanks Jack, hopefully foiling for a bit longer next time i take it out!

I’m glad you like the content! A 50 year old Laser will come up great i’m sure, maybe you can track down a carbon top section and a turbo kit for it!
Awsome Tom! I can't wait to see more on the cruiser dhingy! Keep the videos coming!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Harrison, lots (and lots) to do on the Cruising Dinghy!
Great Tom sick vid
Thanks Peter!
Pool noodle under the hiking straps ;)
I tried that last time but it didnt stay located, will need to give it another go!
The carp were put in the lake by foil haters :)
Wouldn’t surprise me!

Exactly, it feels like hitting the bottom, or a log! I’m just glad i didn’t hit any going downwind fast. I’m glad you liked the video!
I've had the same problem but with jellyfish when I was doing youth nsw states in a Bic at teralba on Lake Macquarie.😅😅
I thought jellyfish were the worst, but now i wont complain about them again, a carp is much more solid!
7:44 the wing is almost planeing 😂
The best part about hard wings! Makes it way easier in situations like this i think

I noticed that, it was all over the place with the altitude readout. I didn’t click that it would be because of the water, thanks!

All good, hopefully it survives!

It wasn’t something i had thought of before either, normally jellyfish are the problem down here!
