I’m thinking of getting this instead of the Huracan STO, but you have to think about: servicing costs and frequency, unusable on the road, less than 15 track days a year where I live, no A/C which is impossible for me since temps go as high as 55C, very hard to sell later, and many other reasons. I’m trying so hard to justify it but it’s difficult.
@@Kmaaq Not so hard to sell - especially if its an HPDE only car. The used market for these is almost 100% ex-race cars, many re-tubbed, and all with race body damage, and race hours, with pending engine and trans rebuild costs at 30, 60 and 100 hours. We tried turning street cars into race cars and you constantly end up chasing things that it wasn't designed for. These Cup cars are endurance racers - keep on top of pads, tires and engine oil, and they just gooooo.

Having spent a little time driving one of these, it's amazing how smooth and effortlessly fast it is. No where near as intimidating/intense as you would expect.
Loved seeing you driving in the great state of Minnesota. Looks like you were on the longer old layout of the track. Have been enjoying the racing at Brainerd for years. FYI the area around the track are also amazing with many lakes for boating and excellent golf courses
Great video. Some of the telemetry was pretty funny. The "track " displayed on the VBOX was apparently not the full course you were driving so it looked like you got real lost around the drag strip. Also the lack of speed info on the telemetry was surprising to me. Despite that, the telemetry was still a great addition. Nice driving and sweet car.
Cool to see so many fellow Minnesotans on here! BIR is also my home track. I was there last Saturday for Proving Grounds in a '19 C7 Z06 that I'm still nervous going much over 100 mph in to turn 1. The older Donnybrooke course Matt drove goes through the drag strip. The newer, about 10yo "Competition Course" is 2.5 mi, 13-14 turns. More technical and doesn't use the drag strip portion.
The short course is so much fun to watch the bikes on. Sitting in the corner stand at turn 13 and watching liter bikes pick the front wheel up while they are still turning is a trip!
Jesus, this thing is going! I dont see how Matt was even talking.. i would be too busy focusing on not dying lol. That was proper audio.. believe me.. hearing this thing was beautiful! 😍
What a astonishing piece of German engineering. No idea this race car ever existed until today, with it being quite a rush just watching it take a corner like it did. Thanks you Matt for the experience.
My 2006 toyota corolla with 3000,000 hit 100 on that curve. Love BIR. Fast drag strip and a fun road course. I see you got to drive the big course. The short course would have been fun to drive with all the tight curves and fast transitions. The 90 turn to go under bridge and back out the long curve is so much fun.
What a wicked opportunity to drive a Porsche CUP car. Love them in Assetto Corsa Competizione, but that's about as close as I've been able to get to one. Would LOVE to race, or even just drive these irl. Hope you took the time to enjoy every minute of it!! :)
OK Matt, now that you've done the GT3 thing with 500 hp come on down to VIR and I"ll let you drive my Trans AM TA car. No anti-lock, no traction control, no yaw control, and 860 hp. You'll run 180+ into the breaking zone on the front straight. Now we're hav'in us some fun!!!
As the revs build, the pitch of the gearbox and wind noise climb higher and higher, drop as you lift, climb again… My breathing involuntarily syncs to the sounds. And I’m just watching a TH-cam video. Half a lap at five tenths would have me hyperventilating and on the verge of adrenal overload. What a thing!
I would assume if you have the cash you buy one and probably straight from Porsche if not as a special order from a dealer I can’t imagine this would be in a showroom
They are usually reserved for teams and drivers with the correct racing experience, licenses etc. They only produce a limited amount, so once the "professionals" get their allocations, there aren't any left over for the regular folks. @@TheSmokingTire Sounds like a solid strategy to me. Also on that last point you made in the video, why spend over a million on a supposedly track-focused McLaren Senna when you could have this for a fraction of the price and on track it would be superior in every way?
