    It is best to perform this piece at a tempo that fits within 5 minutes 10 seconds ±10 seconds. This is too slow and does not bring out the best in the piece.

      I agree with you!! Lake's version of the score slows down the tempo extremely in the trio repeat section. This causes the melody to stagnate.

      @@freiweg1, I agree with You both, who are criticizing the tempo of this performance. I also think, that this march should be played in a clearly faster tempo This is my favourite march and I was really suffering, when I saw this video.

      I think what you really mean is that this band's version of the march isn't good. It is an excellent march, and the band plays the right notes. The conductor changes the tempo, perhaps in an unusual way.

      @@freiweg1 It is the conductor who is doing that as an interpretation of the piece. I am practicing this piece now, and there is nothing on my part (2nd clarinet) which indicates that the tempo in the trio should be slower when repeated.
