I was vegetarian for quite a few years but still was not at optimum health. I kept going until my 40s where there was just some issues I could not ignore anymore. So I decided to balance it all off. There are still some things I will not eat, but since adding back meat protein in small amounts throughout the week, I have noticed a huge difference and I feel 💯 better that now I can add exercise to the mix and I have noticed a great improvement in my all round health.
The biggest issue is west doesn't know how to make a vegetarian meal, or how to cook different vegetarian foods like in India, they adopted the name but never learnt the ways. We have all life vegetarians who hamare top athletes, bodybuilders and people living healthy life till almost 100, but whatever works for you should be fine, wish you a healthy life.
I'm vegan an I'll take all of the advice I can... the gist of what this doctor is saying is that you need to take good care of your nutrition, a balanced diet is needed even if the source of your nutrients is vegetable. Pretty much is what I do.
I think that's a misconception perpetuated by a select few (albeit very vocal) "vegans". Most of the ones I've met/spoken to are very reasonable. I think the fact that there's a label makes it seem a lot more extreme/difficult than it is
I think that's likely to try and dispel the misconception that you can't be healthy whilst following a vegan diet. A lot of people still believe in the protein deficiency myth, for example.
HuntforMusic Don't understand the protein deficiency myth, there are many different types of protein altogether. The body breaks down proteins into amino acids in order to make different proteins. I know that the human body relies on 20 different amino acids, and that you can't get all 20 in a plant based diet alone. Some of them are only obtained in animal proteins or supplements (which the supps are usually made of extracts from animals). Speaking of those extracts, the B12 supps that most vegans take are mainly made from bovine liver cells, something they fail to realize. I used to take B12 vitamins, it usually says it right on the back of the bottle.
i have been vegetarian for two years now and i m feeling so peaceful and lot more energetic. The point is "being vegetarian" simply means not to kill animals or human. Cruelty can not be justified. it gives birth to violence which is happening now everywhere, take a look around your neighborhood.
Vegetarian is a broad statement now a days, but traditionally we consume dairy and eggs and have zero issues getting protein. Video directed more towards vegans I guess, plenty of vegan protein sources as well though, just typically have to consume more carbs to get them.
@@ladybird491 no if you eat dairy and eggs you are an ovolacto vegetarian or, simply, vegetarian. Vegans eat no animal products. Pescatarians eat fish.
@@family-peace-love I was just wondering if you'd share how going back to vegetarian worked after heavy meat .My experience wasn't good doing that. It is way harder to digest veggies now .
our ancestors were hunters and nomads. We didn't even domesticate plants until about 100,000 years ago. We are omnivores. This is perhaps the most basic fact ever. Textbooks in high school will tell you this. The US government (and any other government for that matter) will tell you this. If nature could speak, it would explain very clearly that we are omnivores.
@@apuapu4545 If we haven't invented agriculture there wouldn't be civilization. Times have changed now we don't need to be savages spilling animal blood and violence. We don't need meat anymore. I myself being vegan for 20 years and am agile and strong, and speak four languages among other intelectual feats. Eat meat if you want, but don't think everyone else needs it because it's simply not true. What is true is that you NEED to know what you're doing like with anything in life, last time I checked most omnivores I saw were ovwrweight and with tons of health problems.
My g-ma is 91 years old and eats everything on a pig and has her entire life along with eating a boat load of sweets, meanwhile, vegans Robin Gibb and Steve Jobs died in their 50's with cancer. One key thing my g-ma did was eat in moderation, never ate huge meals and was never overweight in her life. MODERATION is the keep. Eat a diet with vegetables, fruits and some meat along with exercising regularly and you will be just fine.
@powershel23 on the other hand, we single people have no one to be accountable to and help keep us in check for our bad habits. As Dave Ramsey says, "always marry someone who is on the same page on spending as you are"
@Imran A I don't think he was. There's no evidence he was, and plenty of evidence he wasn't. According to NHK, he ate fish when he visited Japan. He had an atypical diet for an American, most likely, with idiosyncratic preferences.
I have been following a high protein diet (atkins/keto) for a long time and as a result I became dependent on laxatives because I wasnt getting enough fiber. I also gained all my weight back because I had carb binge episodes ... Now I have started eating like a vegetarian (mostly veg, nuts, fruits...eggs) and I am not constipated and bloated anymore...and feel so much better. I prefer a plant based diet than the keto option.
It depends on how you define vegetarian. Dr Berg seems to be talking about vegans. If you're a regular "lacto-ovo-vegetarian", you get all the proteins and stuff from dairy.
@@gedvalente4308 is what vegans are as they’re single celled organism because they can’t understand they get less nutrients because omega 3s and b12 can’t be absorbed through plants as good as animals

They are on a 95% to a 100% vegetarian diet. We don't dispute your qualifications. But we can't ignore the 100 year old vegetarians.
I healed on vegan diet, but due to stress events I had to learn how to overcome the effects of stress. These videos are helpful in understanding the biology of the human body.
Absolutely true. I am an occasional chicken and fish eater but I haven't eaten red meat in 28 years. I do like veges and eggs but I had ALOT of rice, pasta, bread, and legumes. Ive not suffered with much weight gain but many dental problems 😬
Yes being a vegan or vegetarian is difficult. I still feel hungry eating only vegetables and tired. Sometimes eating a lot of lettuce doesn't make me feel good.
Same here. I never felt satiated after eating 300g of green beans, 300g of broccoli, 250g of cabbage,80g of asparagus, 80g of celery stalks, 3 tomatoes, 120g of zucchini, 80g of white mushrooms, 90g of cauliflowers, 120g of bell peppers, 150g of lentils, and 150g of chickpeas/black beans. However, since I added 400g of sweet potatoes to my meal, I have started feeling full and because I only eat two meals a day, it lasts me a while until dinner. You should try it.
I find that when I eat a plant based meal, I need to add a good lump of butter or coconut oil to feel satiated. Still an omnivore but adding in more plant based meals. Diversity is the key
I went vegan in january, but without milk i had back pain. Severe as well, the benefits come from the lack of cholesterol in the diet, with semi skimmed I managed to completely heal my back. I tried alpro almond milk and calcium supplements which did fk all and the only thing that solved it was milk. I used to think milk was so unhealthy since its demonized but hey it makes my back pain instantly better... Completely surprised me but thought I'd share.
also had crepitus, in my t3-4 and my sternoclavicular joints, you could literally hear the clicks, something i'd never expereicned before, and it started after a month void of meat and dairy. I did it right, i eat sweet potatoes, sweetcorn, beans, rice, wholegrains and organic vegetables. I also eat ALOT... Its quite a beautiful irony though, that we sort of need all these different things for things to function, i mean it makes ZERO sense from an evolutionary standpoint... Like how could we be RELIANT on milk, surely we never had this access 100's of years ago? But hey its the only thing that keeps my bones healthy and although it sounds completely unnatural to me since its from a bloody cows udder, it is what it is. By the way the crepitus went about 1 week into drinking milk, but in days days i saw HUGE difference. The next day is almost instantly better. Like i said supplements and alternatives never worked, and if I take milk back out, the pain and crepitus come back. I was VERY reluctant to take back up dairy because I felt better without it, but it was actually meat that I felt better without. Coincidence? Maybe im an anomally... Or maybe some just people need these sources of foods? In my opinion, do what works for you, but dont rule out vegetarianism like i did if you get bone problems!
You probably ate like garbage before you became a vegan which is why you think you're in "better shape". Veganism is not a sustainable diet. Over 80% of you are vitamin deficient sugar fiends.
There are definitely ways to be unhealthy on a vegetarian diet, and you can end up lowering your metabolism. Most vegetarians have ethics in mind, and some look beyond their own health to do their bit for animals and not supporting cruel factory farming and slaughterhouses. I have adrenal issues... so it's tricky, but for me I'm not comfortable paying for a dead animal I'd not want to have murdered, or I wouldn't be able to kill myself. I eat fish and am deciding whether I'll still eat chicken/turkey... but I'm not eating cow... pig.... lamb.... because I just couldn't kill one. There are some people (such as DurianRider) in the vegetarian/vegan community that say they used to have chronic fatigue, adrenal and thyroid issues... Yet, on the diets they are on now... they are feeling well enough to compete in athletic competition and stuff. I don't know. It's so hard to know what's true and false. I convinced myself I needed to eat meat, but I just can't face it anymore after seeing all the horrible videos that are imprinted into my memory. If anyone wants to check out my channel, I log my progress with all of this.
Fish and even plants are living orgnisms....scientists have done studies showing that plants not only are living organisms but feel pain so something for vegetarians to consider.
@@megalul7511 Life consumes other life to survive. It is the mitigating of unnecessary suffering that is the key, even for plants. Understanding the suffering of another mammal is easier because we both complain of our suffering using vocal chords. Plants do not scream, at least not to us, and so it is often construed as a more acceptable level of suffering.
@@donaldmcronald8989 plants also don't have pain receptors; nervous systems, a sense of self preservation or any other thing that would constitute sentient life.
Maybe that's cause most people are meat eaters. Meat can be healthy if you don't just eat too much red meat and make sure that you watch your nutrition. Same goes with veganism/vegetairian. Vegetarians are more likely to be healthy conscious cause they have to watch what they eat. However a meat eater who is also health conscious is likely to be very healthy.
Great words💕💕💕 I know when I became a vegetarian in 1990 I did wing it. I read up on it with the minimal information. I am so grateful for the last ten years or a little more. It has made me do better in a practical way. It really is a balancing act!!
I've worked with several vegans over the years and what really concerns me is that they seem angry and their emotions are extreme. It makes me wonder if there are deficiencies. I also notice the vegans commenting on vids display similar hostility and rigidity. No one likes factory farming, no one wants animals to suffer, but then again it has become clear that many do not do well on a grain/veg based diet. Many vegans seem to be unhinged emotionally which is troubling if you are considering the lifestyle change. It makes you wonder how healthy are these individuals who have been vegan and yet seem so on edge? I'm beginning to think many are deficient and don't realize that they are feeling so angry because of their deficiencies! I want to be vegan, but in all honesty the vegan community, along with vegans i have personally known, give me pause as I consider the lifestyle. It also concerns me that many long-term vegans become sick as a result of deficiencies. Many long-term vegans actually end up including fish in their diet due to poor health. I'm considering veganism, but the vegans themselves and the deficiencies are quite a deterrent. I've been transitioning for two months and yet I don't feel very good, where other diets I have noticed improvement right away.
it's not about being emotionally unhinged. it takes a special kind of person to become vegan. i'm not saying vegans are better. but the amount of care for animals, the things you give up (rightfully so) to become vegan. we do it for animals. it's not within our right to take those animals lives. to have them in cages/confined all their life, to rape and murder them like they are nothing. people with less emotion can't become vegan. they just don't care. i was way more emotional when eating animals. had no idea what i was doing. now i only become emotional when i think about what's happening to the animals. only because i care for them as much as i care for my dog, and my child. no more deficiencies come from a vegan diet than a carnists diet, trust me. it's actually the other way around.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. I've been miserable every time I've gone vegan. My hair is been getting thinner and thinner, I've been losing unbelievable muscle mass and tone. I'm exhausted and have always gained weight on a vegan diet, regardless of how many times vegan gurus have told me it was supposed to reverse diabetes, on a vegan diet I actually became pre-diabetic and then in the low numbers of diabetes. So I'm back on a low-carb diet and the weight is coming off and I feel and look so much better.
I've been a male vegetarian for about 33 years; vegan the last several. It's important to eat correctly, but if you do I think it's a very healthy way of life (ethically too). Lately though I am questioning a potential lack of vitamins I need; B12, Magnesium, +; happy to be not overweight. Thanks for the video doc!
Universal ethics should not violate personal ethics and vice versa. If you desire for vegan diet, you already violated your personal ethics because you "desire" for it. Desires are caused by ego which leads to karma or cause and effect - The main cause of re-incarnation or cycle of birth and death
Plants are just as alive and aware as "animals". You think they like being hacked with a blade or boiled? Read the book "The Secret Life of Plants". You've clearly been hyper sensitized by the last 50 years of brainwash and disconnection from the natural cycles of Life. Death is merely a part of Life. I do think our profit pursuit has resulted in unhealthy and unnatural living conditions and life cycles for some meat sources like chickens. But I also think these issues could be corrected through legislation. Locally grown, smaller farms could be competitive with the elimination of most direct taxes on businesses and consumers.
it happened to me, I've tried to be vegetarian 2 or 3 times and everytime after 2 or 3 days I crashed, tired, depressed, not feeling good at all, I have adrenals issues and when the animal protein is back in my diet, I feel better straight away, I'd love to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet but I guess its not the right type for my body.

alison b me too vegan just isn't for me...i ate right too all organic pretty much the whole spectrum of fruits and veggies...still got real bloated lethargic weak and unable to focus...pain everywhere mpre migranes... Switched to small portion of meat intermittent fasting with lots of veggies avacadoes grassfed cheese eggs grassfed butter but I made sure to keep protien meats small portions while eating large quantities of low carb veggies...stayed away from grains bread sugar rice beans.... That's been working for me...especially now that I know that my body is adrenal and highly sensitive to diet changes...the keto diet is working for me...if I change it back to straight vegan...I already know I'm gonna suffer more than benefit from it...i actually looked like a dried up pale faced ghost on vegan diet... It might work for some people with healthy adrenals...but vegans shouldn't be so rude about people's different dietary needs...this ain't religion this is more important than opinions...it affects people's lives...remember that before pushing a self perpetuated opinion...
A lot of people could care less if it isn't healthy (even though you can be a healthy vegetarian just as easily). Most of us do it because of how horrible the meat industry is.
I'm am environmentalist (in training, doing a 4 year masters degree specialising in the oceans and benthic communities in regards to deep sea oil drilling in particular which is what I'm hoping to do a PHD on) I chose to be a vegetarian because there is less of an energy transfer between trophic levels if you don't consume the meat. My family buy free range eggs and milk to compensate, as a kg of meat produces a lot of energy to produce than a kg of grain. Nearly 97% of energy is lost between each level of the food chain" I don't criticise those who eat meat (my father and various other relatives couldn't give up meat if their lives depended on it). I'm not saying all meat is all bad, or course it isn't. We have been omnivores for many millennia and I totally agree on the theory that the consumption of meat gave us extra energy to think about life and tools and the idea that the consumption of meat could lead to the evolution of az; the dominant species on the planet. If everyone or a majority of people in the western world could go vegetarian for a day a week if would really help carbon emissions. Even if people say what's the point with a planet please help, if you can. Give up meat for one or two days a week, if you can. There are so many options in restaurants with recipes quorn is a beautiful alternative I promise I would have been miserable without it!!!!!!!!!!!! If you do it, : it might even make you feel slightly better less heavy, less weighed down (this is cool in areas with these kinds of foods carbs, stodge, refined sugar, that kind of thing). I really am not trying to be peachy. I am just trying to articulate it by. Stephens whose university is a specialist on the subject matter.
It's really not difficult to get enough protein as a vegetarian, provided you eat enough calories as energy. Especially if you consume dairy or eggs, but even a vegan or strict vegetarian can easily get enough protein eating a variety of foods.
Yea sure you can get a lot of bad quality protein in vegan diet. Like bad quality soy protein. But in the other hand if you consume dairy eggs and meat, you will get the best quality protein
I never eat meat and I have more energy than anyone I know. You can eat poorly no matter what type of diet you eat. Eating less or no meat or fish is better for the planet and so for humankind.
Milled flaxseed, sesame seeds, walnuts, cooked beans, mushrooms, and seaweed (instead of salt as an iodine source) in addition to fruits, veggies, and spices--not meat, eggs, dairy, or processed junk--and supplement with B12, D, and K2.
I’m a vegetarian, have been for about a decade and I find this information so impactful. I think it definitely matters if you do vegetarianism the “right” way, which I definitely haven’t been. I’m definitely running on vitamin supplements, carbs and plenty of sugar (like too much). Definitely on me, but this video definitely helps puts things in perspective.
I am vegetarian since birth and never faced any health issues. Went to hospital only few times in 38 years that too due to small injuries during playing. But I am not Vegan, I don't consume egg but I do consume dairy products and honey. In India egg comes under non veg food.

Boss you are talking about your country but here in India, we have lot more options than veggies such as various pulses, nuts, cereals and herbs such as ginseng, shatavar and Himalayan shilajit. Abundance option of vegetarian diet. Many Olympics wrestlers from India are vegetarians and are competitive as one from Mongolia or Europe.
i just have to say that some days i eat only veggies/fruits and some days i eat meat added to my veggies and whatever i feel like eating, this has been working out well for me. I believe in balance and i just feel like our body needs variety. When you really look at it our body needs b12 vitamins and where does that come from? It comes from animals. If our body needs something that comes from animals it means that our body is also made to need meat or animal products (milk or cheese etc) to function properly. I respect other's freedom of choice concerning their lifestyle but we will have to agree to disagree, i don't believe in removing meat or animal products from diets unless you have an allergy... many animals kill each other to eat, are they evil? Get over it people. This is just how their bodies were built..I think that people should stop with all of these damn labels... What i am against is eating excessively, whether it is meat or plant based foods, this is the real problem that is making plantation and farm owners use all of these chemicals to produce more and they end up killing too many animals! Some of us eat too damn much!
+Joaquim Soares lol well i really don't care... i know that people will disagree but we are free to express our opinions and this lifestyle works for me...
He just suffered the nutrition deficiency for so long instead of even thinking to do vegetarian properly. What a tenacity. For such people it really may be better to eat cows.
@@MrStefano79 One reason was that I learnt about bio availability of nutrients. I then also side by side compared vegetarian food with meat in regards to nutritional content and that was a wake up call too. The supplementation was working on paper, but not in reality and I realised that the thing with "doing it right" doesn't fully exist (other than for obvious bad examples) for being vegan and vegetarian. You simply can not get all the nutrients you need in the right amount in a bio available way unless you eat meat. I also learnt about how even blood tests doesn't tell you how much nutrients you are absorbing, but only how much you have in your blood, which is why some supplements work on paper but not in reality. It's a big subject. I'm sure someone will reply and want to start a debate with me but I'm not going to do that for the 100th time. I've done that enough. Real life experience beats any study (which are usually not to be trusted). Everyone should just try what seems to work for them, but they should also be open minded in regards to new information but also in regards to being both wrong and right.
I don’t want debate, but no none will convince me that on a vegetarian diet you would display deficiencies, I can accept that a vegan diet requires particular effort and study. Elite athletes that are on vegan diets and performe equal or better than other athletes.
I'm a vegetarian and I agree with the whole idea of why it's not good to be a "grainatarian" because you can't just expect good health while thriving off of things that are left over from the meal which do not include meat or avoiding not to eat meat in general. It's important to eat a variety of many different fruits and veggies and put the word vegetarianism into play. Sure, we may have to strive a bit harder in order to obtain the necessary nutrients, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and so on but that's part of the lifestyle and experience. Redefining the definition of food which should not exclude the ability to properly absorb nutrients but also enjoy it and seek new innovative ways according to the respective person and their lifestyle. I don't think that not eating meat limits your food diversity if you know what to look for. It symbolizes freedom and abundance. So yes, if you're going to be a vegetarian please do it in a way where it benefits you and your body with proper nourishment. This diet may not be accepted by or necessarily for every individual so do what works for YOU AND YOUR BODY. Yeah there are some negatives but some people like myself have benefited from life-changing benefits. I cannot digest meat. I'm not just stating this because of the scientific theory/belief that we humans cannot digest meat, but I honestly cannot. In fact, I have difficulties digesting some proteins in general. I also have celiac disease which made and inspired me to become the best vegetarian possible and to eat my best which I always had. I get regular check ups and I'm doing just fine and I'm even inquired about by people who are extremely controversial about the subject on health tips and whatnot, nevertheless I know that this isn't the gist. I had health problems and risks such as heart disease, colon disease, kidney failure, etc and I'm healthier that I have ever been in a long time and that makes me feel good to know that this lifestyle works for ME. Dr. Berg I'm not here to debate with you and I appreciate you bringing these issues to mind as I will use them as a reminder to avoid these things if possible and to keep myself healthy, happy, and stable because after all, isn't that what lifestyle is all about? :) thanks I genuinely appreciate this❤️❤️❤️
Eating processed food weather you are vegan or carnivore or omnivore is bad no metter what so based on that it doesnt matter what you eat it will end up bad. People should eat fresh and staright after picking up from the field. All about healthy lifestyle is in yogic culture. There are some old information on where we get nutrients from in this video that should be corrected as they are misleading.
In india most of the people are vegetarian all are food mainly are vegtaria. We use all kind of lintil vegetables and fruits india is heaven for vegetarian
I am in italy I have met over 13 Italians who are over 100 years old. I always ask them what they eat. Meat is always included in their diet. So is fish, cheese and vegetables. However the main secret to their longevity is the freshness of their food.
I’m vegetarian (still eat dairy/ eggs - since that’s what classic vegetarians do) But I have to admit, what this man is saying, is right. And it doesn’t mean being a vegetarian is impossible, but he is making valid points that you need to be mindful of, being a veggie
Besides B12 which you can easily take, what nutrients are you missing being vegan? I have patients who are vegan that only supplement B12 and they don't have any other deficiencies. And then I have patients who are not vegan and they have deficiencies like B12, iron, zinc, and so on. And basically everybody takes a professional brand multivitamin anyways to fill in the gaps, so why is it a dangerous ideology to have?
Sorry Dr Berg. Usually I like your videos, but this is extremely biased! The title should be: "Being a vegetarian is good but here are some tips". About your point nr 1: indeed don't eat too much grains, has nothing to do with vegetarian. About your point nr 2: what is an adrenal case?? I am diabetic (type 1) but as a pure plant based eater I see I have more muscle than average meat eaters. About your point nr 3: sites like Cronometer says I get all the nutrients I need (even more). And you forgot an important item nr 4: avoid malnutritions like you find in dairy and meat, e.g. casein causing TMAO's causing havoc in your body (e.g. bronchitis, diabetes-1, promotes initiation of cancer), and IGF1 to further grow the cancer. Please make a video on debunking this point 4? I would be very interested on how you would do that. For the rest: keep up the good work!
TMAO is clear by the kidneys - Trimethylamine-N-Oxide (TMAO) is a microbiome-related metabolite that is cleared by the kidney and linked to renal function. We explored the relationship between TMAO and all-cause mortality, and determined whether this association was modified by renal function. A prospective study was performed among PREVEND participants to examine associations of plasma TMAO with all-cause mortality. After median follow-up of 8.3 years in 5,469 participants, 322 subjects died. TMAO was positively associated with age, body mass index, type 2 diabetes mellitus and inversely with estimated glomerular filtration rate GFR. In contrast, in subjects with normal renal function TMAO was not associated with mortality. Thus, a novel finding of our study is that the association of TMAO with mortality is modified by renal function in such a way that the association of TMAO with mortality is stronger in subjects with a lower eGFR.
*One more thing to notice is that* (((Our body don't need that amount of nutrients that non vegetarians are trying to get from animals,, ))) there are thousand types of protein & amino acids that we can get from vegetables,,, when it comes to non vegetarian diet i want to mention that human body is very good for storing fat,,, there are many problems with non vegetarian diet such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure,,, and we can't forget CVD (cardiovascular disease),,,,

Actually no you're wrong...im a adrenal type and highly wacked out hormones...i cannot do straight vegan I get real weak and all sorts of problems...what might work for you...may not work for others...the one thing I stay away from is breads pastas and processed foods...if you are a vegan you should stay away from that...not meat...just remember that what works for you...might not work for someone else...
Also I have to Avoid veggies & fruits that are *Nightshades, *Oxalates, *High Histamine, Nuts, Soy, Gluten, Grains, Dairy. Dr. McDougall diet made *me* worse. So grain-free now I feel betr.
Being vegan short term is actually good for you because it can be a great way to detoxify, but long term it is actually pretty detrimental to your body. Going vegan for many years is pretty much putting your body through an endurance test of how much damage it can take while parts of you are slowly breaking down.
I would hate to be a vegetarian. I love meat too much. It fills me up, gives me energy and strength, and is a great source of protein. I am in good health and have been eating meat for over 60 years.
I am not on a meat diet or vegetarian diet, I am on both. I consume both foods so my body can gain more vitamins, protein, iron and improve it's metabolism. Without meat your body would look like a child who hasn't been fed for years. Without vegetables, your body would be weak and incomplete. So both foods are required, no matter what, even if there is a plant that covers what meat has, you still have to eat meat and eat vegetables. Bodybuilders, eat a lot of meat and vegetables and exclude junk foods from their daily life. Why? Because it is required in order to build a fully healthy body and let muscles have their breakfast about protein, iron and metabolism. This is the issue with humans today, they invent/create idiotic things to destroy themselves with. If you eat meat only, you won't live long. If you eat vegetables only, you won't live long and you will get disease same with the meat side. But if we eat both? We would live longer, healthier and more happier.
*If you eat vegetables only, you won't live long and you will get disease same with the meat side* This is wrong! Eating only plants is a very healthy choice, so long as it is varied. You're right about eating only meat though, that's very unhealthy, The less meat the better.
Someone Meat veggies grains beans ect. Everything is processed the government makes sure that all food has some sort of chemical or preservative ect. If it comes from a store is processed to make sure Foods last longer (doesn’t necessarily include the farmers market because some don’t use chemicals) You can get all your nutrients from vitamins btw and all this division of who eats what is just the government winning because if Everyone is fighting about which one is right then they stay in control including racism religion diet lifestyle parenting and so much more instead of fighting we should all support each other whether you eat meat or not. I’m vegan but I don’t shove my veganism down peoples throat. Do you and I’ll do me and if we could both support each other and all love one another the world would be a better place
Being vegan/vegetarian doesn't mean that you only eat vegetables. Yes, you would get sick of you only ate vegetables. But that's not what a healthy vegan diet consists of
I have maintained a vegetarian diet for many years, and as healthy as I thought I was, I was sick all the time (with colds, flus, anemia, adrenal fatigue). One doctor, just like Dr. Berg, told me that some people just can’t benefit from a vegetarian diet. It really didn’t sink in until one day I was so weak that I couldn’t move due to low energy and a drop in blood pressure even though I ate tons of leafy greens, nuts, and fruit. Later that day, I forced myself to eat meatloaf (red meat) and the next morning, I woke up energetic and revitalized! Now I know I just can’t give up red meat altogether and need to find a way to incorporate red meat in moderation. Thank you Dr. Berg for your wisdom and for stressing that these fad diets aren’t always the answer. Every person’s case is different. I appreciate you so much. 🙏
Vegetarianism is not a fad, May religions Hinduism, Buddhism encourage it. Millions of people live healthily without ever consuming meat or dead food (Tamasic food in Ayurveda). Many family members have lived upto their 80s - not once did they visit a hospital nor had a serious illness, or consumed supplements. Keeping away from processed food, plain walking, and keeping stress levels down was the key. Everyone can benefit from vegetarianism. Think of the carbon food print of meat and dairy.
@@travelator3035 You are talking about North Indian food that has paneer and cremes. South Indian is mainly limited dairy (for buttermilk) , gluten-free, and fermented foods. The Western world id unaware of the 1000 types of regional cuisines in India where food varies every 200 miles. So, no, Indians don't consume lots of dairy like the West.
WOW..Dr Berg you are spot on...I was on a juice fast on and off for 16 months..I am 48 and felt crap every fast i did but because everyone said no its good for you stick with it i stayed on it...Not only did i NOT lose hardly any weight i felt miserable, fatigue etc.. So i went on atkins with protein high fat and felt heaps better immediately....I knew i had adrenal exhaustion from stress years ago and was looking at healing them...Going vegan was definitely not for me...Thanks for this it just re affirms what i thought..
I stuck with it fully for 8 weeks straight at a time every 3 months over 16 months...Unfortunately as this video proves its not for people with adrenal problems as i have...
Annie same here...I dunno why people saying protein source from meat is bad...I actually only eat a small amount of meat everyday and lots of veggies...a small amount of grassfed organic meat goes a long way for me...i too got real stressed out from going purely vegan...i got sick and more bloated fat...im also a adrenal type too...so Dr. Berg is on point...I just don't understand the way people are against it...they must be so fortunate to have a fully functional adrenal... I stay away from grains and processed foods...otherwise the keto diet has been a real turn around for me...i think people get the wrong idea about the keto diet...they prolly thinks it's just a all meat diet when it's not...its a balance of the riggt ratio of fat and meat protein plus lots and lots of nutrient dense veggies...and trace minerals...it's an extensive learning process that people who comment here have no knowledge of or have not even done their research...i have to do what works for my body...not what people think is right in their opinion just because medical society or the new age society deems it to be... If it makes me weak miserable and sick...best believe that's not the right diet my body needs!
I had started to put on weight and thought that vegetarian diet would help me. Tried it for one year and two months and got fatter! With your help, I'm losing all the extra fat and I'm just 3 kilograms away from my optimal weight.
You're right! I did a lot of grain consumption and meat-substitution eating. Twenty-five years vegetarian. When I began what I was calling a keto diet I dropped consumption of carbs to nearly nil. I believe those first four or five weeks I was in a ketogenic state. Now, vegetarianism is not veganism. I charged ahead upping egg consumption and not monitoring my dairy consumption. I dropped legumes and carrots because of carbs. Been getting between 76-80g of protein a day, but the carb load is 30 instead of less than the 20 suggested. Almonds, almond flour, berries, certain dairy, seeds, cocoa powder, avocado. Plus that bit of gluten-free toast with breakfast I'm just not emotionally ready to give up. I've lost weight! Just not as much as I wish. I suspect my fat content has become too high. I'm not losing the pounds I wanted to. At least not at the pace I expected. I think my body is burning dietary fat instead of stored fat. So I need to adjust that. Yes I could eat more veggies.
No soy, pure vegetable ,brown rice ,seeds. Beans, Good oils. Everyone must do research before going vegetarian, it’s important that you understand your body responds, how you feel.... thank you for this Video... DR.🙏❤️🙏
The FACT that our stomach PH is at around a 2 SAYS IT ALL! We were simply meant to eat animal protein... or evolved to... or whatever you want to make of it!
chudni Its a simple fact of human biology that stomach acid is hydrochloric acid secreted by the parietal cells within the stomach lining. The pH of this stomach acid is between 1.5 and 3.5, or, an average of 2. In microbiology class I was taught that one purpose of this highly acidic environment is to kill many harmful pathogens in the food we eat.
There are a lot of people who don't want to encourage animal industry to take advantage of other beings being exploited so they prefer not eating cheese or meat. They eat from time to time organic fish and eggs. That doesn't mean they eat unhealthy. There are a lot of healthy alternatives like salads, vegetables, nuts and seeds organic tofu, plant based milk or cheese. Being responsible means taking care of the planet we live in. All creatures deserve freedom and a better life.
I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian. According to the nurse practitioner who sees me, the amount of protein in my blood is sufficient. She also said I get enough vitamins and my organs look fine. I do 20 or more pushups at a time every day. It's a myth that you cannot get enough protein on a vegetarian diet. I avoid eggs most of the time but often consume non fat yogurt. The yogurt I get contains no added sugar, little salt, and almost no cholesterol. I also eat plenty of veggies. When I ate meat on a regular basis, I was around 330 pounds. I'm now down to about 200 pounds. It's good that Dr. Berg eats plenty of veggies, but I'll bet he consumes too much meat and is at an elevated risk for cancer. My maternal and fraternal grandfathers died of colon cancer, so I decided to give up the traditional American diet. I see a pattern that others can choose to ignore at their own peril. According the research I've looked at, vegetarians have an 8 percent lower incidence of cancer than nonvegetarians. I think the figure for vegans was 17 percent. That's statistically significant.
I get my omega-3 fatty acids from an algae supplement and walnuts. The supplement contains EPA and DHA omega-3. You don't need to eat fish to get enough omega-3 fatty acids. I also take a multivitamin a few times a week and eat Bran Flakes to ensure that I get enough vitamins. All these arguments for eating meat are tired platitudes that I've heard a million times.
Research I found said vegetarians had a very slight advantage for two specific types of cancer but the rates of cancer in vegans was exactly the same as the general population. Vegans are also at greater risk of strokes.
***** way too much protein? If 70% of your diet is protein heck ya it'd be too much. If you eat a proper amount of meat you will being getting a complete protein chain, heme and non heme iron and a source of b12 that isnt artificial. Most people need to eat less meat but cutting it out completely disrupts our natural absorption process.
This a food culture problem, the western diet is not adapted to a vegetarian/plant diet. We don't have dinners or lunches that a proper vegetarian like in say India where a vegetarian meal is plentiful and contains everything you might need. We think of salads for plant diet which is rubbish and an incomplete meal.
The difference between Vegan diet advocates and most meat eating advocates are the vegan diet advocates usually occupy the highest positions in the health field while the meat eating advocates expertise pertains to something entirely different for example this man is a chiropractor.. Though a chiropractor does have to have an understanding of vitamin absorption and leans more towards a holistic approach to healing, this man is way out of his league hear and it shows in the misinformation
What he's saying was right for me. I went vegetarian for just a year and a half and was already suffering low level metabolic disorders. I fell apart on that diet in the first year, and eoughted it out and tried this, that, and the other to keep my vegetarian resolve going. But it wasn't working for me. I eat the opposite way now - low carb, high fat.. and totally thrive on it. No more type 2 diabetes symptoms or low energy anymore either.
+neptronix It's been my experience that people really differ widely in what constitutes a healthy diet for their particular body. I became a lacto-ovo vegetarian almost 40 years ago, and it did make me feel better. Over the years, though, I've met 5 or 6 people who told me that they sincerely tried to become vegetarians but they eventually felt sick from it, and the last person that told me this was an animal rights activist. She said that after 6 months of being a vegetarian that she felt terrible and when she went back to eating meat that she felt much better. I really think that no one diet makes everyone healthy.
Gediminas Jesinas soya has pyto estrogen that increase estroen levels went consumed in excess. it also had anti-nutrients, drawing all nutrients from your body. so site is the worst thing you could eat.
I've never eaten a meal without some kind of animal product and I'm in perfect shape and health. I would never even consider going vegetarian. There's just no reason for me to.
I was a very unhealthy vegetarian, as you said, I was definitely a grainetarian. I felt so sad going back to eating meat but I felt so much better when I did😢. Whatbis the best way to address adrenal issues? I'm pretty sure I have something related to that and doctors just tell me everything nos fine.
dont feel bad eating meat. you are part of nature and part of the cycle of life. no one has the right to blame you for eating meat, ESPECIALLY, if your health improved because of it.
I’m thinking going vegetarian, but lacto ovo. And then using whey protein and eggs to get my missing protein and amino acids. Plenty of veggies, beans, and fruits.
Theres no problem with being a vegeterian. Vitamins minerals and fatty acids can be achieved without meats. Even fish nutrients we get are derived from plants they consume. Go to the source. Veggies, peas, lentils, nuts , fruits, etc it's all there. Theres no problem with being a vegeterian or vegan, just as theres no problem being a meat eater. Both have to be done in a proper way with proper consumption of foods.
Another excellent video Dr. Berg! I finally get it ... vegetarians who are adrenal body type and/or diabetic must focus on getting enough vegetarian sources of complete amino acids to compensate for the faster loss of body proteins from our over-productive adrenals and the catabolic muscle wasting effects of cortisol. Plus we must be sure that we are eating mostly whole fresh veggies and not too many processed. Years ago ... my first attempt at being vegetarian ... I did what you said NOT to do ... wing it ... didn't research how to do it the right way. I ended up being a fat, flabby, saggy and sick vegetarian. At that time I didn't know that I am an adrenal body type and had pre-diabetes. Now I am a lean, firm, healthy and fit vegetarian due in part to your videos!
Thank you! Very clear, science based information. I have several friends which are a mix between vegetarians and vegans, most have health issues. Burned out adrenals and panic attacks are the most common complains.
I was vegan for almost 20 years and everything was ok (because I seem to have a large supply of all the vitamins in my body). But now I have started to get all the serious symptoms of vitamin B12 and D deficiency and because of that I have to stop veganism, so that the symptoms do not turn into chronic diseases. I start with eggs, raw Kefir, goat chees..
If u are eating lot of veggies u are increasing ur retained cellulose content . We humans are not ruminants to digest cellulose. Our digestive is designed to digest vegetables and meat both but in balanced amount
Thank you so much for this video. I had made the decision to become a vegetarian. As soon as I made this decision I started seeing all these videos for and against veganism / vegetarian. And I really didn't know what to believe. I trust you 100%. And I do have adrenal issues. Although they're starting to get better. How much meat would you suggest a person needs to eat per week to keep their adrenals good?
The single most overlooked, and at the same time most foundational error in logic whenever anyone tries to justify human animals exploiting nonhuman animals is the irrational idea that human animals in general are morally superior to nonhuman animals. This idea can be easily disproved, and yet most people do not even question it. It is assumed to be indisputable when it's not based on, as some would have us believe, objective fact. Unless we can explain how human animals are morally superior to nonhuman animals, whenever we try to justify humans exploiting nonhumans in the ways that we do, we can't rule out humans exploiting other humans in the exact same ways and for the exact same reasons (our mere pleasure, amusement or convenience). All other forms of moral supremacy, from ethnic, to religious, to gender-based, etc. stem from this one basic idea; that it's acceptable to refuse the same moral consideration to another being that we accord ourselves, merely because of morally irrelevant criteria like the color of their skin, which genitalia they have, or their species membership. The belief that humans are morally superior to nonhumans is not based on instinct. If it was, then we would not be questioning it, and therefore you would not even be reading this. And yet, it's the reason why we believe it's just fine to torture a nonhuman, who is fully capable of desiring to not suffer or die as much as a human, in ways that we wouldn't torture the worst human criminals. The myth of human moral supremacy is almost never even examined. But when it is, it's obvious that, just like the arguments we use to justify racism, sexism, homophobia, religious intolerance, or any other irrational form of oppression, it's based on nothing more than arbitrary personal opinion (and biased, self-serving opinion at that). The idea that humans are superior to nonhuman animals is based on the misconception that all humans have some characteristic or set of characteristics that all nonhumans lack. These criteria are commonly believed to include "intelligence," "mind," "consciousness," abstract thought, the capability of understanding and following moral codes, creativity, the ability to invent tools, technology, art, some sort of physical ability or physical adaptation, proliferation, a "soul," or some other form of divine endowment, the capability of surviving in conditions or environments that others can't, or some other unspecified faculty. All of these criteria are obviously as arbitrary as gender, ethnic membership, or religious belief when it comes to moral superiority, since we can't prove that either they are possessed by all humans, nor that they are lacked by all nonhumans. Not only that, but whichever faculty is being discussed is always one which is possessed by the person arguing on behalf of Human Supremacy. Although human animals created a concept of morality, many humans commonly break the moral codes imposed by society. This is why we have human slavery, rape, torture, murder, and all the other atrocities that civilized humans abhor. Nonhuman animals, who cannot be proven to understand the concept of a human moral code, almost always follow our moral codes better than we do. They do not enslave us, create concentration camps, weapons of mass destruction, torture chambers, or pollute or otherwise destroy our habitats. Nor do they wage war on humans, or any of the other atrocities that humans are guilty of. They merely wish to be left alone to live and die on their own terms. To claim that they should have to follow our moral codes to benefit from them would be like claiming that we should punish a severely mentally handicapped human for failing to pass the S.A.T.s. Human animals created individual moral codes for ourselves because most of us believe that enslaving, raping, torturing and murdering other humans is wrong. "Normal" adult human animals are moral agents, while nonhuman animals, infant humans, and severely mentally disabled humans (among others) are moral patients. In order to be a moral agent, one must be capable of abstract thought in order to have a specific minimum understanding of the meaning of morality. That is to say, moral agents can understand the concept of morality and can therefore make moral decisions, meaning that they can make decisions that affect the interests of both moral agents and moral patients. Furthermore, moral agents have moral responsibilities to both other moral agents and moral patients. This means that they are capable of being assigned blame if they make a moral choice that causes a being who is capable of feeling pain and other sensations to suffer unnecessarily. A moral agent must be capable of giving informed consent, which means that an explicit meeting of the minds takes place (via spoken or written human language, and no less) where both parties are capable of abstract thought, understand what the nature of the social contract is and what the general future ramifications of the agreement are. Moral patients, on the other hand, cannot understand the human concept of morality and are thus incapable of giving informed consent. Moral patients cannot make moral decisions that affect either moral agents nor moral patients. They do not have moral responsibilities, however, in order for there to be moral consistency, moral patients must benefit from our individual moral codes without being able to have moral responsibilities themselves. This is why, for instance, it's morally wrong for an adult human to murder a severely mentally disabled human, and also why it's wrong for an adult human to have sex with a human child. This is also why civilized people believe that humans having sex with nonhuman animals is also wrong. We don't hold nonhuman animals morally culpable to this code simply because we understand that, like severely mentally disabled adult humans and human babies, nonhumans are incapable of understanding and abiding by human moral codes (or at least, any truly rational human understands that they are not capable of this) plus the fact that, regarding their interactions with us, they almost always, by default, follow our moral codes better than we do regarding our interactions with other humans (and even moreso, with nonhumans). On the other side of the coin, humans enslave, rape, torture or murder nonhumans by the hundreds of billions each year, merely because we enjoy the taste of their dead bodies and secretions and the conveniences that it affords us. And we also are intentionally destroying every wild habitat that we can. We regularly treat nonhumans worse than we would treat the worst human criminals. So who is morally superior to whom again? The idea that we should be able to do these things because say, a lion eats a zebra is ridiculous in the extreme. A male lion often will kill a rival male and their offspring before copulating, in public no less, with the mother. If a mother lioness gives birth to a severely ill or deformed baby, she will usually cannibalize them. When applied to human contexts, do we think these are morally justifiable ways to behave? This is where the Human Supremacist says "Either we are morally superior to animals, in which case exploiting them is fine, or we aren't morally superior to them, in which case we can kill them merely because we want to consume them, just like any other animal does." However, this completely fails to recognize that claiming one is "morally superior" means that one adheres to a code of fairness and justice more than the other does, not that one can merely understand human concepts of morality. If a human can understand the concept of the injustice of slavery, rape, torture or murder, but does not refuse to engage in such behaviors, where is the moral superiority in that? As I mentioned, we very rarely hold completely to our optimal code of conduct. We claim, as a society, to believe in The Golden Rule, but we routinely inflict massive unnecessary suffering and death on innocent beings merely for our pleasure, amusement, or convenience. We enslave, rape, torture and murder upwards of a trillion nonhuman animals each year merely so we can unnecessarily eat their flesh and secretions and use their body parts for clothing (among other things), which not only causes massive suffering for them, but massive amounts of chronic disease for us and massive ecological devastation as well. We should realize that if we don't follow this system of justice regarding every innocent animal, human or nonhuman, then the same arguments we use to attempt to justify inflicting unnecessary suffering and death on them ("that animal isn't as smart as I am", "they don't have souls", "it's how I make a living", "meat/fish/dairy/eggs/honey tastes good", etc.) can also be used by other humans to justify inflicting unnecessary suffering and death on us ("that person isn't as smart as I am", "I'm one of the chosen people and that person isn't", "I wanted their stuff", "rape feels good", etc.). There is no way to morally justify the intentional, unnecessary exploitation of nonhumans by humans without also morally justifying the intentional, unnecessary exploitation of humans by other humans. This means that if we personally are against nonhumans having the right to be completely safe from being enslaved, raped, tortured, slaughtered or in any way used as replaceable resources, then we have no claim that we ourselves should be safe from having those same things done to us by other humans. Any argument we try to use to justify harming nonhumans can also be used successfully by other humans to justify harming us in those same ways. This also means that until we as a species evolve past our irrational belief in intentionally exploiting nonhumans merely for our trivial interests, we will continue to endure racism, genderism, homophobia, ableism, tyranny, mass murder, and all the other human rights atrocities we commonly abhor. Furthermore, claiming that, because we can't be perfect and not cause harm to any living being whatsoever is a valid reason to intentionally cause easily avoidable harms is like saying that just because we know that some people will die in traffic accidents its a good reason never to post any warning signs. The fact that we can't prevent all homicides does not justify us intentionally committing mass-murder, just as the fact that we can't survive without unintentionally killing a lesser number of animals or plants does not justify intentionally breeding nonhuman animals and feeding them a much larger number of plants, merely to slaughter and eat them or their secretions, when we can thrive perfectly well on a plants-only diet. Nor does it justify exploiting nonhumans for clothing, research, or entertainment. The only reasonable, morally justifiable thing would be to work to decrease the number of all living beings we harm in all cases, not to try to justify harming them in some cases while claiming to decrease harm in others. Thanks! It didn't take that long to write this one, especially since I took someone else's essay and completely retrofitted and adapted it to fit the point I was trying to make here. I've written my own essays that took a bit longer, if we're not counting time spent tweaking one word here or there. Many of them can be found on my blog. Usually, something with this many words takes about 4 hours to go from concept to finished, tweaked and posted and all.
I'm doing strict vegetables and worried about gall stones. Advice? Is pumpkin seeds, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, hemp seeds, ev olive oil enough... to add protein and some cholesterol?
There's no problems with a vegetarians although.they might not get the protein I was a meat eater and now a vegetarian and it's the best thing I've ever done
I used to do the keto low carb diet…then after some years I went to a doctor to get a checkup and some blood work. My cholesterol was high due to this diet. I’ve changed to vegan….was the best thing a have done to my life.
Is he aware that lentils, peas, beans, nuts/seeds contain vegan protein? And vegetarians even have eggs and dairy protein. What's so special about meat protein that makes it superior? If your adrenals are shot, protein deficency is not the first thing that comes to mind.
Thank you for this video. I’m not a big meat eater and I know I don’t get enough protein. Had to make an effort to include more protein in my diet and it has made a big difference. I was going to become a vegetarian but I don’t think my body could handle it. Can you make more videos in this topic.
I did the vegan thing for nearly 6 years. A couple months ago I started feeling horrible - dizzy, weird stuff going on with my eyes, headaches, fatigued, lethargic, etc. I've added eggs and fish to my diet. It's been 1 week so far, but I already feel much, much better. Things were great when I first did the vegan thing, but over time the negatives seemed to compound. This video is very interesting. I have also learned that there is an agenda behind the 'no meat' thing - believe it or not, I don't care. I'm not planning on going back to red meat, pork, or even chicken. But eggs and fish are something I'm going to continue eating.
My best friend is South African of Indian decent and a vegetarian Hindu and eats lots of bread, rice, soy based everything, naan, fried things. She’s super skinny but looks emaciated at times and her father has high blood pressure! I don’t think I can be vegetarian. I LOVE meat! 😋
I have a serious question... and I would appreciate your response ... I was wondering what you would stock up on in a pantry situation in case we have an emergency food supply... I know that you could stock up on flour, spices, canned goods, beans, rice, pasta, etc.... What I am asking is what would you hoard for future since you're vegetarian..Or Do you see yourself going back to eating meat if in case you need to?
disagree on going vegetarian and losing muscle tissue while having low adrenals. I experienced an opposite shift -since I stopped any animal tissue consumption in the last 10 months. And I do have an adrenal body type.
+Eric Berg I would recommend green smoothies, I drink about 1 1/1 quart every morning and I eat 1 head of romaine per day. You need about 1 or 2 pounds of leafy greens per day. I follow mostly an high carb low fat plant-based high raw diet.
Vegetarians eat eggs and cheese, do you mean dangers of being a vegan? There is a difference...
vegetarian means plant eater dude
vegetarians don't eat meat, but they still eat eggs, dairy, and honey. Vegans don't eat any animal products at all
replace "eggs and cheese" with "shitty soy burgers"
that us what he was saying. listen
Invulgo - last time I checked, eggs and cheese ain’t veggies. Just saying
Cool. I was a vegetarian for many years. Modern vegans are just lunatics in general. Glad to see some are still reasonable.
I think that's a misconception perpetuated by a select few (albeit very vocal) "vegans". Most of the ones I've met/spoken to are very reasonable. I think the fact that there's a label makes it seem a lot more extreme/difficult than it is
Wearing a tee shirt saying "VEGAN POWER" to the gym says what....
I see more violence from vegans towards meat eaters
Jake Seth well god made us omnivores. b12 vitamins are needed from animals
Jake Seth lol good story
God is merciful so vegan 😀
grow up man, stop being a "saint".
Vegetarian is a broad statement now a days, but traditionally we consume dairy and eggs and have zero issues getting protein. Video directed more towards vegans I guess, plenty of vegan protein sources as well though, just typically have to consume more carbs to get them.
That is more peskatarian diet.
I would never go vegan again but I'm trying vegetarian now after a meat heavy diet recently.
@@ladybird491 Pescatarian is the inclusion of fish, vegetarians eat dairy and eggs but not fish.
@@ladybird491 no if you eat dairy and eggs you are an ovolacto vegetarian or, simply, vegetarian. Vegans eat no animal products. Pescatarians eat fish.

My ancestors where vegetarians and lived over 90. I was born a meat eater. Vegan for 2 years. Best choice I have made.
no your ancestors were meat eaters and nomads. So was everyones ancestors until less than a century ago.
our ancestors were hunters and nomads.

My g-ma is 91 years old and eats everything on a pig and has her entire life along with eating a boat load of sweets, meanwhile, vegans Robin Gibb and Steve Jobs died in their 50's with cancer.

Jobs' diet is unclear. At various times in his life, he ate nothing but fruits, other times he ate fish when he visited Japan.
But isn't keto a high fat diet, rather than a high protein diet?
Dr Berg promotes healthy keto version which is lots of vegetables, moderate amount of protein and fat.
It depends on how you define vegetarian. Dr Berg seems to be talking about vegans. If you're a regular "lacto-ovo-vegetarian", you get all the proteins and stuff from dairy.

Absolutely true. I am an occasional chicken and fish eater but I haven't eaten red meat in 28 years. I do like veges and eggs but I had ALOT of rice, pasta, bread, and legumes. Ive not suffered with much weight gain but many dental problems 😬
As we say in Russian, white meat-white death, red meat - red death, salt and pepper -white-black death.
You're a flexatarian for the term, congrats it's working for you.
Eat some CARBS for christ sake. You're tired because you don't have any carbs. That's your fuel.
I find that when I eat a plant based meal, I need to add a good lump of butter or coconut oil to feel satiated. Still an omnivore but adding in more plant based meals. Diversity is the key
Eat butter, eggs, cheese, yogurt and healthy carbs
If you think being vegan means eating lettuce you'll be severely nutrient deficient
I am a vegan, i eat little fruit lots of vegetables and greens, a few beans for protein and I have never been in a better shape in my whole life
are you still a vegan?
That’s because being vegan is better than the S.A.D. diet...but still not good enough for many bodies.

Maybe that's cause most people are meat eaters. Meat can be healthy if you don't just eat too much red meat and make sure that you watch your nutrition. Same goes with veganism/vegetairian.

A proper vegan diet helped me loose weight by almost 10kgs over a 1 year period. I feel so much better.
At the end of the day, you have to listen to your body, glad you're better.
You have to do low carb vegan to reap the health benefits.. or vegan Atkins or vegan Keto. Whatever you want to call it but it still must be low carb.

Problems Being A Non-Vegetarian: the downsides of causing suffering to animals.

Stephens whose university is a specialist on the subject matter.

i just have to say that some days i eat only veggies/fruits and some days i eat meat added to my veggies and whatever i feel like eating, this has been working out well for me. @@MrStefano79 how can you feel better being malnutritioned?

Being vegan short term is actually good for you because it can be a great way to detoxify, but long term it is actually pretty detrimental to your body. Going vegan for many years is pretty much putting your body through an endurance test of how much damage it can take while parts of you are slowly breaking down.
Being vegan is fantastic!

@@chitpat I don’t disagree. In fact, I grew up in a vegetarian household, and the people in my household before me.
@@chitpatThe vegetarians in India eat a lot of dairy so they won’t be reducing the carbon footprint.
So i went on atkins with protein high fat and felt heaps better immediately....I knew i had adrenal exhaustion from stress years ago and was looking at healing them...Going vegan was definitely not for me...Thanks for this it just re affirms what i thought..
the point with juice fasts is to get over that point.
I stuck with it fully for 8 weeks straight at a time every 3 months over 16 months...Unfortunately as this video proves its not for people with adrenal problems as i have...
a juice fast does not equal a vegan diet
I was eating vegan diet in between fasts
Well done! NB: Remember as you lose weight you need less energy intake pro-rata to the weight lost
No soy, pure vegetable ,brown rice ,seeds. Beans, Good oils. Everyone must do research before going vegetarian, it’s important that you understand your body responds, how you feel.... thank you for this Video... DR.🙏❤️🙏
Sorry, what do you mean by good oils?
The FACT that our stomach PH is at around a 2 SAYS IT ALL! We were simply meant to eat animal protein... or evolved to... or whatever you want to make of it!
Ph of humans is around 7.4 and of carnivours between 1.5 and 3.5. Get your FACTS right. Humans are 100% herbavours who got used eating meat.
chudni Its a simple fact of human biology that stomach acid is hydrochloric acid secreted by the parietal cells within the stomach lining. The pH of this stomach acid is between 1.5 and 3.5, or, an average of 2. In microbiology class I was taught that one purpose of this highly acidic environment is to kill many harmful pathogens in the food we eat.
Um...wut
We don't need animal protein. We can eat it, but we don't have to.
This should really be the problems with becoming a VEGAN.
Just stop
laws against eating meat come from doctrines of demons - Jesus Christ through Paul the apostle.
Vegans are also at greater risk of strokes.
so many idiots trying claim vegetables have more protein, iron or acids than meat... wtf do u think meat is made of?!
The honeymoon period lasts longer for vegetarians than for vegans, to the point where most vegetarians mistake malnutrition for 'ageing'.
You don't need to eat high carb as a vegetarian though
I love the way this video starts. like listening to a casual documentary.
You can get DHA and EPA omega 3s from kelp and spirulina.
I was hoping to hear Dr Berg talk about beans and sprouted lentils for proteins for vegetarians. And I want to know how it affects the ketodiet
Fermented soy is actually great food. Plant food can have a lot of protein and fat too.
all soy is bad even fermented
Gediminas Jesinas yeah if males want to kill their testicles
Gediminas Jesinas soya has pyto estrogen that increase estroen levels went consumed in excess. it also had anti-nutrients, drawing all nutrients from your body. so site is the worst thing you could eat.
I wonder how many ppl disliked this before listening any of it.
Im vegetarian and honestly i dont like it

Plenty of veggies, beans, and fruits.
did you end up going vegetarian?
You need to check out the blood-type diet! Each blood-type the blood & body systems function differently!
RonSafreed blood type is just correlation to macronutrients personal needs... Make the same study about that and ill u see.
Could you not integrate with supplements, apparently at a certain age everyone need to supplement b12 even carnivore
why do you people promote such unhealthy and irrational diet if leads to such problems.
I shall continue on eating meat and plants thanks for the advice!
you shouldn't need advice
If u are eating lot of veggies u are increasing ur retained cellulose content . We humans are not ruminants to digest cellulose. Our digestive is designed to digest vegetables and meat both but in balanced amount
Thank you so much for this video. I had made the decision to become a vegetarian. As soon as I made this decision I started seeing all these videos for and against veganism / vegetarian. And I really didn't know what to believe. I trust you 100%. And I do have adrenal issues. Although they're starting to get better. How much meat would you suggest a person needs to eat per week to keep their adrenals good?
I would also like to know what you suggest for this Dr. Berg. I have adrenal issues as well
i know im commenting 3 years late but.. i dont think meat is okay on a vegetarian diet. maybe fish meat in very rare occasions? idk.
If you eat meat that’s not vegetarian even if it’s occasionally
You don’t need meat in your diet, meat stay in your digestive system long time causing health problems

You are good. Please don't lose yourself. You know this world will try you. My very best.
This is where the Human Supremacist says "Either we are morally superior to animals, in which case exploiting them is fine, or we aren't morally superior to them, in which case we can kill them merely because we want to consume them, just like any other animal does."
However, this completely fails to recognize that claiming one is "morally superior" means that one adheres to a code of fairness and justice more than the other does, not that one can merely understand human concepts of morality.

Well said!
I'm doing strict vegetables and worried about gall stones. Advice? Is pumpkin seeds, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, hemp seeds, ev olive oil enough... to add protein and some cholesterol?
There's no problems with a vegetarians although.they might not get the protein I was a meat eater and now a vegetarian and it's the best thing I've ever done
where does protein come from DR. Berg ??? certainly not from animals
I have no idea what's he talking about I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and morning star.
i guess you got finally accepted in art school and became a vegan isn't it?

I used to do the keto low carb diet…then after some years I went to a doctor to get a checkup and some blood work. My cholesterol was high due to this diet. I’ve changed to vegan….was the best thing a have done to my life.
Is he aware that lentils, peas, beans, nuts/seeds contain vegan protein? And vegetarians even have eggs and dairy protein. What's so special about meat protein that makes it superior? If your adrenals are shot, protein deficency is not the first thing that comes to mind.
Different amino profile
He must be because he said "You may have to add beans to your diet".
Lmao
Different amino acids, vitamins and less carbs.
Even oatmeal has protein, peanut butter has even more.
Thank you for this video. I’m not a big meat eater and I know I don’t get enough protein. Had to make an effort to include more protein in my diet and it has made a big difference. I was going to become a vegetarian but I don’t think my body could handle it. Can you make more videos in this topic.
why is being a vegetarian too hard when you said you don’t even eat much meat anyways?

What would you recommend for people who are in a catabolic state - whereby their muscle protein is being used for fuel?
