Fantastic drive mate, I've always wanted to see someone drive the H-1 in full. That stretch through downtown Honolulu was awesome and not quite like most American interstates I've seen, there's a bit of an European/Asian flavour to it lol
Why are there Speed Limit 25 signs at 0:31? Is that some kind of joke? It's the entrance to the freeway (and not one of those tight loop ramps), so there aren't any at-grade intersections, sharp curves, pedestrians, bicyclists, or parking spaces to warrant such a slow speed. Anyone who complies with the 25 mph speed limit on this stretch of road would be blocking traffic.
I wonder what it's like to pursue higher education in Hawaii. On the one hand, it sounds like a dream. On the other hand, that could be its own undoing. It would always feel like summer vacation, and the beach would be quite a distraction. Good luck making it through engineering or pre-med.
I just found it interesting to see it so busy. The news stations were all on it warning drivers. But given Oahu is reachable, it's not like driving 5 hours or something, I would figure I could move in whenever. But also you have to realize that to someone who lives there, this is everyday. You don't think much of it. But it sure is nice.

Very enjoyable ride. Going to miss Hawaii when you videos from this trip are done.
Thanks. It was great out there. I spent 6 hours in Oahu filming these videos and that was enough for me. I just wanted to get back to the Big Island.
I've really been enjoying this series, bein's my days of long distance air travel are likely over. This more than makes up for all of that!
Thanks. As much as I liked Oahu, I enjoyed driving the Big Island roads better. Hopefully next time I can get over to Maui or Kauai. We'll see.

Thanks. It is a different feel compared to the mainland roads.

Will there be a Hawaii 5-0 video? :)
Maybe.
