I like the narration-style of this video. Plus, I know it takes a lot of hard work and time to put something like this together, so well done. Hope you and the family had a great time in Japan. I'm looking forward to more of those videos.
Thank you for watching and appreciating! This did take me a long time but, I also know I could have done better. I was really excited to work on this one for everyone and had fun trying to figure out how to show it. I'll do another one later on! Hopefully it won't rain next time lol! We did have a great time in Japan and can't wait for our next trip! We will be putting out those Japan videos here and there, thank you Storied Worlds! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Thank you so much for the complement and for watching! I really enjoyed making this video and hope it can be useful! We really appreciate you and your support Wesly! Have a great day! Aloha =)
TOM SANDERS oh yeah there's been some changes since then. Thank you for your service! I'll do any update to this video in the future. Thanks for watching Tom! Aloha =)
I believe at one time Ala Moana was the largest shopping center in the US. It was fun watching that place grow as we did. One of the funniest things about the old-time Ala Moana was, if went into the bathroom, and went out the wrong door, you'd end up on the stage!
I think, when it was built, Ala Moana was considered the largest open-air shopping mall in the U.S. But w/all the development(s) in Dubai, Bahrain & the rest of the Middle East, not to forget Minn. Mall of America, dunno if that still holds true!
kikiinwaikiki kiki WOW! Thank you for the nice comment! I was so tired sometimes making this video that I thought I was not sounding very clear but, if you say I was thank you! We really appreciate you! Aloha =)
Beautiful drive especially the narration by Luke. Miss my island so much, been on the mainland too long! Had a few tears watching this video, especially Makaha and Brudda Iz, my mom had the honor of hearing him sing. Last time I was on the island, was to say goodbye to my beloved Tutu who made Oahu the happiest place on Earth. Have to get back to my island soon. Aloha, until we meet again!!!!!
Leno Vincent aw thank you! Aw sorry about your Tutu... Mine used to live in Nanakuli. You are very welcome for the drive. We live here all our lives but, until we started to do this youtube channel to show Hawaii more we have been finding so many things and learning more about things here. We like to show this to visitors but, it makes us more happy to be able to bring Hawaii to all of you who miss your home and can't be here now. Keep watching we do a new video everyday! Take it easy Leno! Have a great week! Aloha =)
@@PhotoLukeHawaii Thanks again, Photo Luke! I especially loved your video called, Waikiki Looking For Lunch 3/7/2019. Only because you filmed my building across the street, The Royal Grove Hotel, only its not really a hotel, its more of an apartment building, with some residents like my family, who have been returning there for 40 years, some RG residents about 50 years or more. Run by the Fong family. It has a richly diverse history. And it's home in Hawaii, its "real Hawaii!" Way too long to explain my history there in a reply, but it's my extended Hawaiian family. but you may be interested in filming Royal Grove Hotel Monday Night Music and Dance, an RG tradition. My dearest friend Donna runs the hotel. You definitely capture the real sense of Oahu in your videos, I have watched every one of them, fabulous job!!!! Here is a video of RG. Sincerely, Lee Vincent. th-cam.com/video/HoJzv5swWOk/w-d-xo.html
Leno Vincent wow! I loved that! Like family style entertainment! Monday nights huh? Do you know what time they start? Awesome I really enjoyed that and will try to make it down there to get some footage soon! I'm watching that video and had to watch some other ones too of that Monday night and it reminded me of a big living room with the ohana and aunties, uncles, cousins, grandpa, grandma, dad, mom playing music, and a couple aunties and cousins come up to hula. Wow that's awesome! Thanks for that info and your nice complements! This kind of content digs down deeper and kinda special secret... do I want to share this with everyone? YES!!! LOL! Thanks again Leno! Aloha =)
@@PhotoLukeHawaii Well, Luke, all I would say is to check out RG for yourself, its many friends of the owner and the regular guest of the hotel, but some of the musicians go up to Kalakaua, and perform, and sometimes invite other musicians they meet back to join. And many people pop in that are just walking by on Uluniu, and stand in the family room by the pool and listen. They never turn anyone away, its true Aloha Spirit. It's like our living room where my mom and my Tutu used to play cards every night, both passed away recently. Tutu used to enjoy the guests and friends. Many people do drop in occasionally by word of mouth, or friends of friends, from Hawaii, or the rest of the planet, to see the RG charm. And also guests at the, Me Bar-B-Que, in our building will stay and listen to the group because they use the restroom by the piano in the laundry area. And yes it's very family oriented, that's why my parents started staying there in the early 1980s from the mainland, three months at a time, some guests stay much longer. I would just suggest going there around after dinner time, like your walking by, like you did at the restaurant you went to across the street, hang out, check it out, chat with some of the folks, see what they have to say about sharing the video if you do record, but its really enjoyable experience, and its real Hawaii, unlike the other hotels on Waikiki. Or just go yourself to have a nice listen, make friends, and hear stories of old Hawaii. The people there are so old school Hawaii, very charming people, It is just a suggestion that you may like from what I have experienced over the years. But they are very friendly and might like you to add them to your collection of videos. Feel out the situation, you're a great videographer, so that's why I suggested it. I have a bachelors degree in film and photography, I think you're talented. But it's worth checking it out, use your own judgment on it, but have met so many life, long friends there. Thanks again Luke, you have brought back so many Aloha memories for me. Be well buddy, Leno, Aloha!
Leno Vincent thanks for the advice and all the info! Yeah don't worry, I'm cautious and like to feel out the situation before whipping out my camera, lol =). wow cool you have a degree in film and photography and you're paying me complements, thank you! Really appreciate that! I love photography too but, I don't like to edit and what good is your photos if you're just snapping away lol! I'm the worse judge of myself and I'm very critical on myself and never happy so I stress myself out lol! I used to do weddings and did a couple years of events for a lifestyle magazine but, somehow it always stetted me out when I was working for some whether it was a boss or a client. For some reason I love video and TH-cam gives me this freedom to do this types of videos. If you want to check out my photos you can go to photoluke.net. Someday I'm going to show it on this youtube channel for people to check out if they'd like to help me out and buy some of my photos as artwork. We will see. Thank you again for your suggestions and input I really appreciate it! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Cindy Rankine oh so sorry you're homesick, I'm glad the videos help and still feel connected. Yes please watch all you want! Here's most of our Hawaii videos th-cam.com/play/PLxfXsQszwAJQU5bT5MgrQxhEVuZXjIEAU.html. This playlist is everywhere except Waikiki th-cam.com/play/PLxfXsQszwAJRWitiV4QR3ngXT_rfnEU30.html. Thanks for watching and appreciating! Aloha =)
Thanks for posting this. I lived on Oahu for three years and this brings back great memories (except for the traffic jams). Going back there for a visit next summer.
Can you put the turn by turn streets that you took going around the island? This is really good for people who have not done this around the island tour.
We lived in Hawaii in the 70s for 8 years and watching this drive is supercool! We made the drive from Laie to town and back pretty much once a week back then and it's wonderful to experience the drive again through your lens. Only thing I missed was driving from town through the Wilson Tunnel and from there on to Kahekili. But mahalo nui for a great nostalgia trip anyway!
Philip thanks so much for watching and appreciating this video! Guess what I found a drive I did recently from town to PCC. Hope you enjoy it! th-cam.com/video/OfeI6k3Ww-w/w-d-xo.html Thanks again! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Jacob R thank you very much for your awesome comment! I will get doing another one in the future. I had a great time with this episode but, anxious to add more stuff in there lol! Thanks for your support! Aloha =)
@PhotoLukeHawaii, I have watched hundreds of videos about Hawaii. But hands down, this is the best video I have seen in 15 years. Nice job my friend. Subscribed. I love how you, in your videos, take your time to show things and don't "Rush" through everything and in turn we really have time to see what you are showing us. Wonderful job. Thanks for doing this for us and keep em coming :)
EvilGamezTV wow thank you so much and thank you for watching! You know when making this I kept wanted to change things or add things and I decided just to put it out. After watching it again I realized I made some mistakes and forgot to mention some places so when I make the next one I will do it better and I plan to maybe by the end of the year or early next year. It will be with newer footage, added places of interest, hopefully with a newer computer so I can do more stuff with it. Thank you so much for the awesome comment and your support! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Franc Walt thank you so much for the kind words! We do our best and we are still learning. We hope to always improve! Thanks for watching! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Thank you for sharing ,, i lived there for 2 years, i think i only went around the island about 4 times the whole time i lived there, brings me to many memories
Another great video of yours Luke it was awesome all the work you did was fantastico!!! My family and i will be going back once again to Oahu for two weeks and i will be using your videos as our tour guide from driving to walking.. Thank you for all the uploads. Very informative.
jettjett mar thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so glad the videos help! That makes up very happy!!! Thank you =). Yay for you in two weeks! Have a good week and you will be here in no time! Aloha =)
Great video. I've gone to Hawaii several times, but found this video very helpful......just made a list of places I want to go to when I go back to visit in August after watching this. Thank you.
Glen Cunningham oh thank you for watching and glad it will help you to remember roads and places for your next trip! Probably a long over due trip! Excited for you on your upcoming vacation! Have a great day! Aloha =)
I love this video! I'm going to Oahu in December and want to rent a car to explore the island exactly like this! I'm glad I found the video, and thanks for making it!
Lisa Bowman thank you so much for appreciating the video! I hope it gives you some ideas. There's so many other things to do here and I don't know them all but, if you have questions just let me know. Aloha =)
Kip Max 65 yay glad the video helped! I'll do an update on this video eventually but it's more likely to be done at the end of this year. Thanks for watching and excited for your up coming trip here, yay! Have great day! Aloha =)
Wonderful video! I am so glad I found your channel for my up coming trip to Oahu in a couple weeks. One question, what is your favorite/highly recommend shrimp truck on the North Shore? Thank you 🤙🏻
Jess King hi aloha =). Thanks for watching and supporting our channel we really appreciate that! Okay so our favorite shrimp truck is in Haleiwa called Big Wave Shrimp. In that lot it's the 1st one on the right and it's first in this video ttps://th-cam.com/video/r73-D0ifFbA/w-d-xo.html. The parking lot for this area usually has attest one or two stalls available. Thanks for the question! Have a great weekend! Aloha =)
Maria Pisa on yay! Glad you enjoyed this one! I'm planning on making an updated one but, this one pretty much covers it a lot of things! Thanks for watching and appreciating Maria! Aloha =)
Blake Sanden sorry on a trip so its taking me longer to respond. When I get home after I edit my video I add in clips from my iphone or i use the audio record function in imovie. And just place it where I want it. If its video that I imported from my iphone then I just do a picture in picture which is an option in imovie. Im sure you have a program with a similar function. Hope that helps. Aloha 😁🤙🏽
Blake Sanden no, Iʻm not even sure what that is. Is it special video card to help with video production? I use a iMac and I heard of a video card for the graphics but, thatʻs about it. Let me know what that is, Iʻm curious now lol
We are heading back in june and we can't wait !!!! We have a big chalkboard in the kitchen with a countdown on it and the kids fight over who gets to change it every day. This time we are gonna stay in the northshore area in hopes of it being a little slower pace and less people. I have a question for you where would one find the biggest banyan tree on the island ?
Yay June will be here in no time! That's awesome about the chalkboard!!! I'm not sure where on Oahu has the biggest banyon tree. I know on Maui we have the biggest on in Lahaina and they have a craft fair there under the tree. I'll do a walk next time I'm there. Okay for Oahu the one closest to north shore would be Kawela Bay there's suppose to be one. All the other ones are in Waikiki at the Moana Surfrider, International Market Place (this one is cool cause you can walk into the treehouse in the 2nd floor), Iolani Palace has one too and Manoa Falls Hiking Trail has one also but, it's a bit up the trail. Since you're going to be on the north shore make sure to spend sometime in Haleiwa town at least for food and treats. Also, Waimea Valley is worth walking around, going to the falls, maybe book the Toa Luau and they have a farmers market on the weekends I believe. Consider booking a day at the Polynesian Cultural Center, if you do you don't have to buy the most expensive package, consider getting the more budget minded luau package or just get entry to the village and if you haven't seen the night show Ha it's a really good show. You can always eat at the Hukilau Marketplace or go outside to eat McDonalds and come back for the Ha. Just make sure at least to get village tickets. Also, if you're going snorkeling Sharks Cove is awesome. We usually stay inside on the left where it's not deep and it's mostly enclosed. The right side of Sharks Cove is deep and can get rough and there's not lifeguards so only if you folk are good swimmers and the conditions are good. Consider hanging out at Ehukai Beach where Banzai Pipeline is and if you can't get parking inside the street parking there is confusing. You have to really look at the signs on the side of the road. We got our car towed away from there before. We parked where a bunch of other people parked and didn't look at the signs and we all got towed away. Piece of advice never leave anything in your car visible that looks valuable. Even if it's a nice tissue holder that could be mistaken for a little purse hide it or take it with you. Sorry people will break in to your car if something looks worth stealing and they will just break your window and quickly take it. Otherwise yay for your upcoming trip! Sorry if I made you paranoid just want you to have a good trip without incident! Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any questions! Aloha =)
Oh like picture in picture? Depends on the program. i use Final Cut Pro and can do it with this program but it doesnt have borders on it unless you install a plug in. I like iMoive for this cause they have borders for the video you are adding on top the main video. Thanks for watching! Have a great day! Aloha 😁🤙🏽
Aww this video brings back a lot of memories for me. I remember Honolulu airport I remember those days. What was nice about Honolulu Airport was that I didn’t need a layover to go to California to see my grandparents. Aww yes I remember Ala mona center in this video and the street that is in this video. I remember going to ala mona center. I remember I went there a couple of times with my grandparents. Then I went one time with my mothers friend Kim. Then one time with my one my dad friends name Justin and his wife Janelle with their two daughter Annika and Nadia and their son Leam who was a toddler at the time. I also remember going to the Macaroni Grill. I went there because my dad was having a goodbye party for some one at his work at that time because he had someone moving to Texas at that time. Yes I also remember the duke lagoon in this video I went swimming there when I was in my final days of living in Hawaii. In fact it was close to the Hawaiian Hilton where I stayed in my final days of Hawaii. Yes I also I remember the Honolulu Hilton Village when I was in my final days of Hawaii me and my mother did a lot of walking. Yes I remember Duty free shops when I was living in Hawaii I walk by those shops often when we walked in Waikiki because they were so close to the original International marketplace. Yes I remember the royal Hawaiian center in Hawaii. I went there twice one time with my mother and grandparents and other time was when me and my parents walked there together during our final days in Hawaii. Yes I remember the original international marketplace me and my mother and grandparents would go there and walked around there too sometimes. I used to not like there when I was younger but now it seemed like a blessing to go there. I also think that my mothers friend also went to the international marketplace I am not sure if I remember that. I also remember the beaches at Waikiki and I would go there every year for the Fourth of July with my parents and Friday nights because the Hale Koa would do fireworks downtown Friday nights. I might have been to the Waikiki aquarium but I am not sure If I have been there. I definitely did not see the war memorial when I was in Hawaii or the kaimana beach when I was in Hawaii. Yes I remember diamond head road and I did the diamond head lookout point when I was living in Hawaii. Yes I remember the Diamond head hike that I did when I was in Hawaii. Yes I also went to Kahala mall when I was in Hawaii. I would walk there with my parents sometimes and we would go there for the Whole Foods there because we didn’t have the Whole Foods at the ward center at the time we lived in Hawaii. I did not see Ainsley Haina shopping center when I was in Hawaii. I have never been to Uncle clays because they didn’t have that company at that time when I was in Hawaii. I didn’t see the koko marinea or the Leonard’s truck or bakery when I was in Hawaii. Yes I remember hanauma bay in Hawaii I would go to the look out sometimes. Yes I also did the lanai lookout in Hawaii. It was cool seeing the other island. I remember supposed to go to Maui for Labor Day weekend one year but I didn’t the super ferry was bankrupt which my parents were planning to do to go to Maui. But I also have been to Kauai as well when I was living in Hawaii. Yes I think have Halona lookout and the cove in Hawaii but I am not sure. Yes I remember seeing sandy beach one with the high waves when I was in Hawaii. Yes I remember doing the the lighthouse trail when I was in Hawaii I went there a couple of times with my parents. Yes I also think I saw the look out close to that but I’m not sure. I definitely did not see the sea park when I was there in Hawaii. I don’t think I did the beach close to it when I was in Hawaii. I also didn’t do the beach park I don’t think again these two this I am not sure. Yes I went to the windward mall once with my parents when I was in Hawaii. Yes I went to the valley of temple when I was in Hawaii I went there my mother sometimes and one time my mother friend did this with us and we also did this with my grandparents I think but I don’t remember. Yes I definitely did the culture center when I was in Hawaii with my parents. Yes I did the botanical garden once in Hawaii with my grandparents when I was in my last months there in Hawaii. I definitely did the dole plantation when I was in Hawaii. Yes I have been to the aloha stadium in Hawaii I went there for the flea market in Hawaii. Yes I also went to pearlridge mall in Hawaii I would go there for my dentist appointments. I also remember seeing Hotel for dogs with my mother and Horton head a who in that mall with Janelle and Annika and Nadia and Leam too. I also saw Pearl Harbor too when I was in Hawaii in fact I lived in the Air Force base that was next to it when I was living Hawaii. I would see both entrance on the road. One Halloween in 2008 I tricked or treat on a boat with family. All in all this video brings so much more memories of good old childhood days for me such good old days.
Thank you for watching and appreciating samba! I'm glad it will be helpful for you! I'm hoping people can use this video for ideas and locations of places and things to do. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm not an expert but, if I know something or can find out something for you or video something, I will. Have a great day! Aloha =)
Thank you so much! Honestly made my move May 1st seem overwhelming at first. Once I got past that I imagined how simple and satisfying life could be. Very exciting video!
Oh sorry I made you stress. If there something I can video for you to make your arrival or move easier let me know and if it's something I can do I will. Thanks for watching! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Noooo! That's not it at all, you are doing great! Keep it up! Hahaha I just feel overwhelmed because of all the what ifs. It is just something that comes and goes!
@Ze Wize CaucAsian, I totally understand I'm like that too. Mine is anxiety when I have too much things going on all at once or there's a crowded situation sometimes that anxiety just hits me. Have a great weekend! Aloha =)
I loved the video!! Brought back many great memories!! It's been years since I've been there, 1981 - 1985 Schofield Barracks. Oahu has become more populated. Thank you!!! 👍
Tom S yay! Glad to bring back some memories for you! Oh cool you were stationed at Schofield Barracks! I think about that time I used to work backstage at Fort Shafter and we did some set construction at Schofield Barracks in one of the buildings which we would eventually transport to Fort Shafter and set it up for whatever play we were doing at the time. I remember having a hard time driving around in there sometimes, seemed like they changed the roads sometimes haha or I just kept getting lost. Anyways, thanks so much for finding us and watching! If you want to see more here's a link to our Hawaii Walks and Places. th-cam.com/play/PLxfXsQszwAJQU5bT5MgrQxhEVuZXjIEAU.html. Have a great day! Aloha =)
viewers: right after he mentioned where Kaneohe Bay was located right after the bridge, was the plot of land where the Karate Kid 2's Okinawan Village set was. If you see the movie, you'll see Chinaman's Hat in the background.
Yeah! I remember that! Funny how they make it look like an old style village for the movie. Thanks for mentioning that hawaiiguy1 =). I have to watch the movie again just for that lol! Aw miss Pat Morita! Have a great day! Aloha =)
I lived on Oahu (Kalihi Kai) all of my childhood life, when Salt Lake was really a crater lake and Moanalua Garden consisted of a few dozen acres with taro patches.
A lot of fun viewing the drive- mahalo! Wish you had gone on to Makaha and Yokohama in west Oahu, however. One thing I don't miss on Oahu is the traffic! Aloha!
Wife and I did same drive in Jan in mustang convert , very nice sunny day we had. Usually do same drive every yr we come to island from Canada. Keep up the good vids!
Oh yay! Glad to bring back some good memories! Sorry I was lacking the rumbling engine of the mustang! I'm sure it was a fun drive for you folks! I plan on doing this again in the future but, I'll do things differently and make it better! Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
Thank you so much for this. Me and my family is coming down in feb 2021 just to see family and just be home and knowing the whole covid situation driving around the island is more likely to be our only activity we’ll be doing but just being HOME and catching up with family is all we want ❤️ This video brings so much memories. Much love from the 702!
Heaven Leigh Maiava thanks for watching from Las Vegas! Excited for you on your up coming trip home, yeah especially to visit family! Thanks for watching and glad it brings back memories! Yay! Thank you again Luke for your videos, they are awesome... at times it feels like I’m back in Oahu ... and the dole whip is to die fir .. it’s so yummm... wish we could het here in Melbourne Australia ....
Raelene Farnell aw I wish they would have dole whip for you in Australia! Wow thank you so much for watching from Australia! What was your favorite thing you did while on your trip here? Thank you for the complements and for watching! You are awesome! Have a great week Raelene! Aloha =)
My favourite thing over there was going to Pearl Harbour, seeing the Island and just being there in Oahu .. love being there.. keep up the great videos. love watching them... you have a great week to Luke 😀
Michelle Malvar thank you so much for finding us! I'm currently working on updated drive around the island but, it will take me 2-3 months to finish. Thanks for watching and enjoying this episode! Mahalo! Aloha =)
Great video. I loved the narration/commentary as it really explained things well. Those speed humps in the middle of the roads are a bit of a pain though right!? hah! Thanks again for sharing.
Patrick Barks thank you so much for appreciating this video! Yes agreed those bumps were awful =(. Thank you for watching and supporting us! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Isom Adonis yes it is still closed although they open up one tunnel for going to work and coming home traffic. I heard sometime in August they will be done and reopen it but, I'm not sure. We were considering doing a drive though there but, then we are on the wrong side of the tunnel for going to work traffic. Maybe going home traffic would could do it. We will see. Thanks for watching and for you good question! Aloha =)
Tyler Eck thank you so much for watching and appreciating! We really appreciate your too! I'll make another one in the future but, I really enjoyed the challenge of making this one! Really appreciate your support and kind words Tyler! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Great video. I used to live in Aiea. I had a thrill when you went underneath the overpass by the highrise. I miss living there. I've been planning a return visit for years, but my kids are young and to them Orlando is still the coolest place. I love how the sky and the greenery changes as you drive around.
illinest no worries, that's great that your kids think home is the greatest place! Yay, that's always good! Yeah I guess when you bring them back home to Hawaii for a visit make sure you plan some fun things for them so they have a good time too especially since they might be grumbling why they have to take a trip away from there happy place. lol =). Maybe the Wet N Wild Water Park, Waikiki Aquarium or Sea Life Park, or Honolulu Zoo, or going to the beach. Polynesian Cultural Center can be fun for everyone, there's games in the different villages, temporary tattoo stations, stamp booklets for the kids to get a stamp at every village and a prize at the end of the day, fishing at the Tahitian Village, village shows, the Huki canoe show, different dinner buffet, and the show Ha at night. Sorry if you knew all this. Just throwing in suggestions. Let me know if you want videos of anything I suggested or information. I'll send you the links here's one of Polynesian Cultural Center th-cam.com/video/1c65-l_oiTQ/w-d-xo.html and here's the Huki show th-cam.com/video/Dpg8m5p_Cxc/w-d-xo.html. Aloha =)
Steve Williams thank you for enjoying this episode! I'm working on a newer version of this but it's going to take a couple months to work on. Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
Vídeo muito bem feito, muita gente não tem noção de como a ilha de Oahu é grande, deve ter dado trabalho para editar, eu notei que choveu na câmera de filmar em alguns pontos, ela não estava dentro do carro? , onde estava posicionada? As imagens ficaram ótimas. Obrigado .
Oi! Obrigado por assistir! Sim, foi muito trabalho. Eu ficava arrumando alguma coisa ou adicionando alguma coisa porque eu esqueci alguma coisa, mas eu finalmente disse a mim mesmo para apagar. Eu o tinha fora do carro montado no topo acima do pára-brisa. Eu quero fazer isso de novo e fazer melhor! Espero que da próxima vez não chova. Tenha um ótimo dia! Aloha =)
BringN DaRuckus thank you for enjoying this video! Wow you will be here soon! Excited for your 1st trip here! Also, thank you for subscribing to us! Mahalo! Aloha =)
Great video. I’m hoping to get there when this crazy pandemic is over. I like traveling with you, I feel like I’m there. I’ll definitely watch this video several times.
Dianne Furue if you were to drive from the airport to Waikiki it would take about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. If you are going on shuttle or bus it would take longer with all the stops. I just saw that a taxi might cost about $35 from the airport to to Waikiki, it's probably the easiest and fastest way to get to Waikiki. Don't forget I know in Japan we don't tip but, in Hawaii it's good to tip especially when dinning in restaurants and giving the taxi driver a little more to show appreciation. We love Japan for not having to tip. Wow so how long are you folks going to stay in Hawaii? Do you have plans already or do you need suggestions? Let me know. Aloha =)
Mahalo fo another great video! Quite a bit has changed, we lived on Kahuhipa Street in Kaneohe 1980-1983…Our last trip around da island wit da keikis was back in 1983 before returning to da mainland on orders to my new duty station in San Diego. Wonderful videos braddah! Sure miss da islands 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Mary Raines there are ways you can go through the towns so you don't have to get on the freeway but, it will probably take you all day if not longer and I don't know the routes personally. Also there are parts of the island that you cannot go around because there's no road connecting the areas so you might have to back track in some areas. Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
Aloha. I wanted to see your circle drive to relive fond memories of Oahu. Unfortunately, as you said in one of your comments, this is not the video for me or someone who wants to savor the scenery. Actually, it reminded me of the Daytona 500. On the positive side I liked your commentary and the freeze frames with photo inserts. It added a lot to the enjoyment of the video. I think I got spoiled by first watching your walking tours of Kuhio Beach and Hanauma. Those I loved for the cinema verite and relaxed pace. I perused your comment section and noticed many were planning a trip and were inspired by your video. Good for you. Except, I hope they are not all in their rental cars on H1 at around 5:00 pm when I'm trying to get back to my hotel in Waikiki. My wife and I, as visitors from Canada, have spent about 15 weeks in all over 6 visits and love your island of Oahu. I probably have driven that route at least 40 times and each time we see something new and interesting. How lucky you are to live there. I too, shoot a lot of video walking and driving but your shots are so smooth. I'm very jealous. Mahalo! If you run into my friend from the Montreal Alouettes , Junior Ah You at the Hukilau Market, say hello. He was not doing too well when I saw him in December.
TolKOZAK lol, yeah this drive was done quickly. I was going to post a long version and a short one but, at the time my it would have taken too much memory on my old computer for a 4 hour video but, now that I have a newer computer I think I could do that. So next time I redo this drive and I'm going to... I'll make sure to do both long and short versions. Thanks for the input! Sorry your friend is not doing so good. Why does his name sound so familiar. Thanks for watching and we really appreciate your support and kind words! Have a great day TolKOZAK! Aloha =)

shon ancheta oh do you just apply the rain x like you would on a car? If you use ceramic coating on the front of the lens casing would it still see clear? Thanks for watching Shon-san! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Luv ALL of your videos! And Loving the music! Especially the first few minutes! Reminds me of a Bruno Mars groove lol! Who does it? I'm jamming in my living room while looking at the video at the same time! 😊
Hey Cari Annette! Thank you so much! OMG I'm not sure where I got that song from lol! I'm sorry. Oh wait try look at the youtube free songs I might have used some on there... maybe... th-cam.com/users/audiolibrarymusic?nv=1. when you go to TH-cam on your page click on the CREATOR STUDIO button close to the right than click on the AUDIO LIBRARY button on the left side. If not from there than I got it off of www.epidemicsound.com/ which is a paid set to get music to use for videos. Sorry I know that's not much help. Aloha =)

We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village 2 weeks ago. It was amazing to see the same sidewalks we walked on especially from the Hilton to the Ala Moana shopping center. We fell in love with Hawaii before we even landed there and are already planning our next trip there. Thank you for taking us back there through your videos :)
Hey Cody! Oh cool! Glad to bring those memories back to you! It makes us happy to make you happy and even better if you fall in love with Hawaii! You folks make me appreciate Hawaii more! Have a great day Cody and family! Aloha =)
so i am going in a few weeks near the hilton hotel. i am curious about the diamond head, north shore and PCC. also where to see the best luau. can you help with that? any must see places my 11 yr old daughter has to see?
Angela Sanchez Hi =). I have some videos of those places. So for Diamond Head it's a great hike with a nice view. It will be hot so make sure to bring water, put on sunscreen and maybe wear a hat, I also suggest to go really early or later in the afternoon for parking reason. We have to park outside sometimes in the neighborhood. There's two Diamond Head videos the first one is what to expect driving there th-cam.com/video/gIKpacGEsZo/w-d-xo.html. There is a parking fee of $5 per car I think or if you walk in $1 per person. Here is the Diamond Head hike th-cam.com/video/q08zpIlR4do/w-d-xo.html, oh I saw you've seen that video already. I'll leave it here anyways. North Shore I mainly have a Haleiwa Walk and the rest is beaches. Here's the Haleiwa videos. Part 1 th-cam.com/video/JsNqIA6Y_k4/w-d-xo.html part 2 th-cam.com/video/gztj5L2wpHY/w-d-xo.html. Here's Sharks Cove if you like snorkeling th-cam.com/video/zyl8nhNiT1Y/w-d-xo.html. Here's Ehukai Beach if you want to see Banzai Pipeline th-cam.com/video/TQAnBLnLP2k/w-d-xo.html. Polynesian Cultural Center & Hukilau Marketplace I have a lot of videos but, here at the main ones. Here's the Hukilau Marketplace where you can eat, shop, and get your PCC tickets th-cam.com/video/Zpr3EkWCbA0/w-d-xo.html Although you should get them in advance but if you're not sure about when you want to go you can always walk in and buy them that day. Just go early about 11:30 to buy your tickets because it's an all day thing. Walking Polynesian Cultural Center th-cam.com/video/1c65-l_oiTQ/w-d-xo.html. Since you were asking about a luau, you might as well go the this one for dinner. You'll have to get a package with a luau and not just the buffet. The buffet is just food and not much authentic Hawaiian food no real entertainment. I would watch the night show Ha if you can. It's like a Vegas type of show and good to see at least once. We have seen it more that 15 times lol! Oh just a quick note we haven't been to many different luau's only PCC. If you goggle luau's for Oahu you will see a lot maybe decide if you want to different type or go to two. As for your 11 year old daughter. I'm not sure what her interests are. Our 10 year old son likes PCC, snorkeling inside the enclosed area in Sharks Cove when it's calm (no sharks in there), or snorkeling at Hanauma Bay but the water is deeper there and can get a little rough at high tide. He also likes Sea Life Park th-cam.com/video/vBg6FGykom0/w-d-xo.html but loves the bird cage they have there but, I'm pretty sure you folks have been too better places like Sea World or other huge aquariums. We also have the Waikiki Aquarium which is nice but small th-cam.com/video/RPehyf7vcIw/w-d-xo.html. I don't know what else to suggest as a must do. We have a Wet N Wild water park which is fun but can be pricey sorry I don't have video for that. I hoping your daughter will have fun at PCC with the hula and Tahitian dancing, canoe paddling, watching the shows, trying some Polynesian food samples, making a fish out of leaves, playing different Polynesian games, spear throwing and so much more. The beach is always good just be safe. Oh never leave anything that looks valuable visible in the car. Even if it's a fancy looking tissue holder that could be mistake as a small coin purse. Sorry we have people that will take advantage and break in to cars especially in the country. Just keep it with you or hide it out of sight. Let me know if you have more questions. Hope some of this helps. Aloha =)
@@PhotoLukeHawaii YOU ARE SO AWESOME!thank you so much for your time PCC will be what we do. i am excited, as our trip is pretty short so walking around the stores and resturants and PCC will be the two main things we do besides relaxing at the hotel pool and beaches. again thank you so much! aloha
Cindy Trujillo lol thank you for enjoying that. It's hard to show Hawaii with homeless like that and I try not to but, it's a reality. Thank you for watching! Aloha =)
Kathy D ah I'm so sorry I honestly don't remember which day and it actually took 2 days. I'm almost sure it was Saturdays because the whole drive all together took about 5 1/2 hours to do. I remember starting about 11am which was kinda late and we did stop to eat couple times which I didn't show in the video. Oh I remember the bulk of the drive was done on Christmas Day which is why there wasn't much traffic. The 2nd day I had to do because by the time we got to the other side of the island the sun started to go down. Thank you for watching and for the great question! I will be making an updated version of this video in the future. Have a great day! Aloha =)
Yes Waimanalo is awesome too! Cheryl likes to go to Once Again Succulents in the back in the farms in Waimanalo. Have you been there? Of course only if you're into succulents lol! The Waimanalo Market Co-Op has some good food there, have you gone there?
russ gouge oh cool and thank you for watching! What was your favorite thing to do in Kailua or on Oahu? I enjoyed making this video and will make another in the future. Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
Why didn't you go into Mililani?, sooo much to see there🤣😂😭 But seriously I love your channel, it's been 2 years and I'm missing Oahu so much and your video's make feel like I'm back there.
I will totally do Mililani one day =) My plan was to drive through every town but, as we were doing this drive it just got later and later. It was actually filmed over two days. I want to redo this video and add Waialua, Kaena Point, Wahiawa, Mililani, Waipio, Waipahu, Ewa, Kapolei, Koolina, Aiea, Pearl City, and Makua. We will see. This might be a good time to actually work on this video. It's hard with school being out and my son wouldn't want to spend all day riding especially when he has so much homework and my wife still has to work. I want to do this though, it will be done =). Thanks for watching and for the suggestion =). Aloha =)
Great video..thank you. I dream of one day moving to Hawaii. At roughly 15;14 it looks like you drove by Island hoppers headquarters from magnum pi. Surprised it wasn’t mentioned..unless that wasn’t it lol.
LibsRcrazy ah you are so on it! I totally forgot about that! Thank you for reminding me about that. I'm working on an updated version of that one. It's going to take months to work on though. I'm still working on the drive that I've had to redo because of rain lol! I'll make sure to mention about TC and Island Hoppers as I'm going by there, thank you! Thank for watching and for the info! Aloha =)
I love it ! I am going to take your route to Waikiki from the airport... I also noticed you shaved and had a haircut :-) ... Mahalo again Luke... - Rommel
RLSJC28 lol yeah my hair is normally really short almost bald but, lately I've been too lazy to cut it so often so I let if grow out lol! It's a good route to Waikiki especially if that traffic is bad on the freeway although it might bad on Nimitz too but, it can be a nice drive. Thanks for watching! We really appreciate your support! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Blake Sanden yes it is effecting Oahu too. They walked through Waikiki, I saw some guys blocking the freeway with a row of cars upfront. I do not agree with some of the forms of protest when it affects peoples lives like work, trying to get to appointments or flights. I understand the reason to protect sacred areas just the protest looses its effect when it messes with people daily lifes and special vacations or trips. Awesome youre keeping up with our news! Have a great week Blake! Aloha 😁🤙🏽
Jose Camacho right now it's cooler but sometimes it's rainy... the summer can get hot and humid. Maybe right about now it good! If you like it hot the summer time. Winter is more rainy but, usually if it's raining on one side of the island the other side is sunny... Sometimes it does rain over the whole island though. Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
I'm really watching this bc I miss this place. Driving around the island is literally my favorite thing to do, idk why.
Aloha =)

Props my brother... That is a lot of work and you did it with Love. Thank you! Mahalo!
Thank you so much for the complement and for watching! I really enjoyed making this video and hope it can be useful! We really appreciate you and your support Wesly! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Thank you. The island has changed so much since I was stationed at KMCAS in 1981--1983
TOM SANDERS oh yeah there's been some changes since then. Thank you for your service! I'll do any update to this video in the future. Thanks for watching Tom! Aloha =)
Thanks so much for your video! Easy to understand and love the side pop up pics of places.
Thank you so much I plan to do updated version of this in the future! Thanks for watching and for your support! Aloha 😁🤙🏽
That brought back so many great memories. Thanks for the video!
ScottDLR thank you so much for watching! Glad this brought back some memories! Hope to keep bring back more! Have a great day! Aloha =)
I believe at one time Ala Moana was the largest shopping center in the US. It was fun watching that place grow as we did.
One of the funniest things about the old-time Ala Moana was, if went into the bathroom, and went out the wrong door, you'd end up on the stage!
OMG glad they moved the bathroom entrances and exits lol! Funny! Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
I think, when it was built, Ala Moana was considered the largest open-air shopping mall in the U.S. But w/all the development(s) in Dubai, Bahrain & the rest of the Middle East, not to forget Minn. Mall of America, dunno if that still holds true!
Aloha.~
Beautiful 😻
Thank you so much 😊
You have a great day.
I love 💕 Hawaii.

Peter thank you for watching! Is that a new avatar picture! Cool! Aloha =)
it’s the best video of Oahu I’ve ever seen 😊🤓👏 your narration was easy to understand. I can’t wait to get there!
kikiinwaikiki kiki WOW! Thank you for the nice comment! I was so tired sometimes making this video that I thought I was not sounding very clear but, if you say I was thank you! We really appreciate you! Aloha =)
I enjoyed watching your video around Oahu in 50 minutes. I saw new places I want to visit. Thank you!
Aloha =)

Thanks again, Photo Luke!
Aloha =)
@@PhotoLukeHawaii
Well, Luke, all I would say is to check out RG for yourself, its many friends of the owner and the regular guest of the hotel, but some of the musicians go up to Kalakaua, and perform, and sometimes invite other musicians they meet back to join.
Aloha =)

Many memories this video bought back! As soon as I saw Haleiwa Bridge I felt at home!

Yay SUGE WHITE Jacoby thank you! Aloha =)
Aloha =)

thank you for this video bro!! it helped me a lot in making the itinerary for our trip. Can't wait!!!!
Yay! Glad this helped! Be safe and healthy!

Aloha =)
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS VID!! CANT WAIT TO GO THERE IN MARCH!!!!
Maria Pisa on yay! Glad you enjoyed this one! I'm planning on making an updated one but, this one pretty much covers it a lot of things! Thanks for watching and appreciating Maria! Aloha =)
Mahalos for this fast-forward scenic view dakine!
Thank you! Aloha =)
Thanks again. I love Hawaii and miss coming over there. So took your trip around the island. Been to all those areas so great to see them fly by.
Ted Ring yay, thank you for watching this episode! I'll do another one eventually =)
Hey quick question how do you video narrate your episode? Is a capture card needed ? Or you just direct streaming from your camera ? Thanks man
Blake Sanden sorry on a trip so its taking me longer to respond. When I get home after I edit my video I add in clips from my iphone or i use the audio record function in imovie. And just place it where I want it. If its video that I imported from my iphone then I just do a picture in picture which is an option in imovie. Im sure you have a program with a similar function. Hope that helps. Aloha 😁🤙🏽
@@PhotoLukeHawaii thx brother. No capture card ?
Aloha =)
Lived in Oahu from 2010 - 2016, missed this place like crazy. This video is a great stroll of memory lane 👍👍👍
Yay I'm glad to bring back good memories Narada Perkasa! Thank you! Aloha =)
As a first timer to Oahu, this is very helpful!
Great video ! Question, how do you insert video on video? Any app recommendations ?
Oh like picture in picture? Depends on the program. i use Final Cut Pro and can do it with this program but it doesnt have borders on it unless you install a plug in. I like iMoive for this cause they have borders for the video you are adding on top the main video. Thanks for watching! Have a great day! Aloha 😁🤙🏽
Thank for sharing some knowledge with us sir. Aloha ! I will subscribe now
Aww this video brings back a lot of memories for me.
Wow you did a lot while you lived here! Thank you very much for always watching and for your support! Have a great day Envision! Aloha =)
Thanks! Luke. This is what I need for my trip in May.
Thank you for watching and appreciating samba! I'm glad it will be helpful for you! I'm hoping people can use this video for ideas and locations of places and things to do. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm not an expert but, if I know something or can find out something for you or video something, I will. Have a great day! Aloha =)
Dude i love this video thank you for doing this for me
You are welcome Lloyd! Thanks for suggesting and for watching! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Great tour very informative.
Thank you for making this super informative vidoe. We will use your this video as a guide when we go around the island next month. Thank you so much 🤙
Thank you so much!
Keep it up! Hahaha
I just feel overwhelmed because of all the what ifs.
Aloha =)
I lived on Oahu (Kalihi Kai) all of my childhood life, when Salt Lake was really a crater lake and Moanalua Garden consisted of a few dozen acres with taro patches.
owleyes 11 oh awesome, thank you for taking me back =). Thanks for watching =)
A lot of fun viewing the drive- mahalo! Wish you had gone on to Makaha and Yokohama in west Oahu, however. One thing I don't miss on Oahu is the traffic! Aloha!
Thanks!
Yay! Check out any of our other videos anytime you like th-cam.com/play/PLxfXsQszwAJQU5bT5MgrQxhEVuZXjIEAU.html Mahalo =)
Thank you, this is such a great way to get your bearings. I have loved all your videos. Your narration is great. Did you film this in hype smooth, 2X?
Thanks for all the tips. A living and talking "map" really helps visitors.
IslandBreeze thank you! I want to work on another version of this... eventually =)
Very cool!!! I love the narration as well. Do you have footage near MCBH? Thanks!
Great! Just subscribed! It's so fun to watch and very informative. I'm so excited for our trip!
Aloha =)
Mahalo for the video. Is Pali Lookout still closed from the hill collapse?
Isom Adonis yes it is still closed although they open up one tunnel for going to work and coming home traffic. I heard sometime in August they will be done and reopen it but, I'm not sure. We were considering doing a drive though there but, then we are on the wrong side of the tunnel for going to work traffic. Maybe going home traffic would could do it. We will see. Thanks for watching and for you good question! Aloha =)
It's been a while. Saw this on my feed and watched and shared it on social media. Cool ride along narration. Aloha from Chadsshow.
I wish I had seen this before our trip there in 2017!
angelabutful1 sorry maybe helpful for your next trip? I'll do another one in the future. Thank you so much for watching! Aloha =)
@@PhotoLukeHawaii yes for our next visit!

Awesome video and appreciate all the time and effort it took to make!
Tyler Eck thank you so much for watching and appreciating! We really appreciate your too! I'll make another one in the future but, I really enjoyed the challenge of making this one! Really appreciate your support and kind words Tyler! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Great video of beautiful Hawaii.
Aloha =)

Very helpful. This really helps me to see what I have been reading about. Mahalo.
Steve Williams thank you for enjoying this episode! I'm working on a newer version of this but it's going to take a couple months to work on. Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
Love your driving videos with music Luke!
cukt_3 thank you for enjoying the driving videos! Don't worry i'll make more. Mahalo =)
I love this video......great tutorial........puts various locations in perspective.......thankyou
Vídeo muito bem feito, muita gente não tem noção de como a ilha de Oahu é grande, deve ter dado trabalho para editar, eu notei que choveu na câmera de filmar em alguns pontos, ela não estava dentro do carro? , onde estava posicionada? As imagens ficaram ótimas. Obrigado .
Oi! Obrigado por assistir! Sim, foi muito trabalho. Eu ficava arrumando alguma coisa ou adicionando alguma coisa porque eu esqueci alguma coisa, mas eu finalmente disse a mim mesmo para apagar. Eu o tinha fora do carro montado no topo acima do pára-brisa. Eu quero fazer isso de novo e fazer melhor! Espero que da próxima vez não chova. Tenha um ótimo dia! Aloha =)
Awesome video! Great edits. Going to Oahu in 2 weeks. First time. The food trucks are my kryptonite. Subscribed.
Kyle505 thank you! I want to do an update this video eventually! =)
Sir how long it takes time from airport to Waikiki hotel? We will came from japan and it’s our 1st time to go to Hawaii.....
THIS IS PERFECT
Em G thank you for watching this one! Aloha =)
Very well edited!!! :) Your best video!
E. Nathan Glass thank you very much for the complement and for watching! You are too kind! Have a good week! Aloha =)
Is it possible to get around the entire island with an electric bike or scooter?
Mary Raines there are ways you can go through the towns so you don't have to get on the freeway but, it will probably take you all day if not longer and I don't know the routes personally. Also there are parts of the island that you cannot go around because there's no road connecting the areas so you might have to back track in some areas. Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
@@PhotoLukeHawaii
I'm thinking of moving there in a couple yrs
Nice work Braddah. Super smooth. Thank you for sharing✨🤙😃
SmileBoy G333 thank you, I appreciate that! Thank you for watching and enjoying the video! Have a great day! Aloha =)
Aloha =)
@@PhotoLukeHawaii Aloha. Junior Ah You is a professional football player who played in Canada. He is in your Hall of Fame at the Polynesian Cultural Centre.
TolKOZAK ah yes that's why his name sounds familiar! Thanks =)

oh I forgot to mention maybe using a ceramic coating or even just rain x for your camera case to eliminate water droplets
shon ancheta oh do you just apply the rain x like you would on a car?
Aloha =)
Mahalo! I'm watching this video from Sydney, missing Oahu so much! Can't wait to return when this pandemic clears up! Xo
Merci pour cette vidéo. Thank you.
Micheline Thomas merci d'avoir regardé nos vidéos! Nous vous apprécions vraiment!

Aloha =)
I loved this video! Thanks for the tour!
so i am going in a few weeks near the hilton hotel. i am curious about the diamond head, north shore and PCC. also where to see the best luau. can you help with that? any must see places my 11 yr old daughter has to see?
Aloha =)
@@PhotoLukeHawaii YOU ARE SO AWESOME!thank you so much for your time PCC will be what we do. i am excited, as our trip is pretty short so walking around the stores and resturants and PCC will be the two main things we do besides relaxing at the hotel pool and beaches. again thank you so much! aloha
Angela Sanchez of course glad to be of help! =)
This is great! I lived here for 6 years and always wanted to do a time lapse like this, be back this summer! 🤙
Leland Rasor hey then you can do a time lapse too! Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
The tents are people waiting for a concert😂😂😂 clever clever😉
Cindy Trujillo lol thank you for enjoying that. It's hard to show Hawaii with homeless like that and I try not to but, it's a reality. Thank you for watching! Aloha =)
Just curious...what day of the week and what time of day did you shoot this video? Thanks for making this!
Aloha =)
This is makes me more homesick😭 Mahalo❤
Rina Bima sorry for making you homesick =(. Hope you can come back home soon! Hang in there! Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
You all good. Felt like i went on a circle island. Mahalo. One day will do. Malama pono!
Rina Bima yay! Mahalo, malama pono, a hui hou =)
Waimanalo is also a favorite of ours!
Yes Waimanalo is awesome too! Cheryl likes to go to Once Again Succulents in the back in the farms in Waimanalo. Have you been there? Of course only if you're into succulents lol! The Waimanalo Market Co-Op has some good food there, have you gone there?
The best years of my life 1986 to 2000 really miss Hawaii lived in Kailua
russ gouge oh cool and thank you for watching! What was your favorite thing to do in Kailua or on Oahu? I enjoyed making this video and will make another in the future. Thanks for watching! Aloha =)
Awesome!!
Thanks for watching and appreciating! Aloha =)
Why didn't you go into Mililani?, sooo much to see there🤣😂😭
But seriously I love your channel, it's been 2 years and I'm missing
Oahu so much and your video's make feel like I'm back there.
Aloha =)
Love going driving😁🤙
Aloha =)
Great video very informative for my trip tomm thx
KibaJovanni thank you for watching this one! Aloha =)
Are the protests going on in the big island effecting Oahu ? I watch Hawaii news every night

Aloha =)
