I was living in New York in the same apartment building as 3 members of the band did. We use to party in my apartment because we had a baby grand piano in the living room. Shanana is a Icon from the 60's. Remember Woodstock!!!!! I love to watch all the film clips over and over again. This is Cadillac Man. Keep it rockin !!!
When I was 8 I didn't care for Santini that much. Now I'm 45 and I can appreciate what a lovely voice and handsome face he had. Forgive me Santini, I was only a kid.
***** Oh no not at all; I was eight, I had a crush on Chico LOL. I just thought that Santini looked older than the other guys and he sang a lot of Elvis songs and I’ve never been THAT much into Elvis that’s all.
I wish they would have Johnny Contardo be the "mentor" on American Idol for many reasons. (1) To show the youth what REAL singing is, (2) to remind America of Sha Na Na and (3) What better person to mentor young singers?
@sshelget That is brilliant !!!! Johnny who has one of the best voices of my lifetime would be a wonderful mentor. He gives voice lessons so he would be able to help the contestants bring about a better performance. No one delivers a song quite like Johnny so he could also help them on technique and stage presence. Great suggestion.
@@cjinasia9266 A number of founding members who left the band before the TV show started are also highly qualified academics. Rob Leonard became a professor of linguistics, Joe Witkin became a doctor, Rich Joffe became a lawyer and Alan Cooper became a professor of religious studies. Also drummer Jocko Marcellino who stayed with the band from start to finish has a masters degree in drama. Not bad for a bunch of greasers!
You make some very good points. I can't stand rap, either. You should check out the rest of Sha Na Na's videos and see just how much talent that guy, Johnny Contardo, really is. :)
@cevc918 - I totally agree with you. I haven't heard an "original" sounding voice for over a decade. Everybody sounds the same! You described it perfectly: "too breathy or shouty" - in addition, all those annoying "runs" (where they hold a note forever and go up and down with their voice).
To date we have lost the talent and Charisma of four members of Sha Na Na their names are Lenny Baker Dirty Dan Chico and Dennis Green better known as Denny rest in peace guys I bet there's some nice Harmony going on up there thank you for all your music your fan forever and ever grease for peace Joann Trinidad
This is the first time I totally understood the words. For about a million years I thought the second line was "Please, please, please, please tell your daddy you're gonna!" Yikes!
Johnny Contardo is a high tenor, Santini a mid-low tenor. He sounds a bit like Elvis. 2 different vocal ranges, just part of a multi-voice harmony group that must work together to create that blend. Great stuff that takes a lot of rehearsal time.
Hi msdemme - I lurve SNN too but be careful about drawing too much attention to all of us enjoying copyrighted SNN on TH-cam as these clips may be pulled; and we may not get the SNN DVD set at all; then where would I get my daily fix of SNN...? Best cheers to you.
LOL, I always thought Jackson Browne made this song famous. Who the hell is the original artist? Not Sha Na Na, right? Sha Na Na only did covers I thought. Hmmmmm. Now I have to look this up!
Santini Rocks!!!!!
More talent here than even exists today.
Sha Na Na rules...that must have been such a fun gig!

Are you serious? That is absolutely badass. I’m sure those memories will always be cherished and never be forgotten
Damn, I miss this music. Great songs, great voices. And that Johnny hitting those high notes so effortlessly and clearly. No auto tune. Pure talent.
When I was 8 I didn't care for Santini that much. Now I'm 45 and I can appreciate what a lovely voice and handsome face he had. Forgive me Santini, I was only a kid.

Me too!
Santini was my first crush - I think I was 4 years old, possibly 5.
Johnny Contardo : the magic voice
Nice job Dr. Powell!
Johnny's voice range is amazing! ❤❤❤
Johnny give me goose bumps when he sings
Yes! I'll stay with you Santini
I’m 26 and I barely discovered them this year. I would strangle a bad omen to see them live once.
Sha Na Na is the best ever!!!
Santini was one of my fave Sha Na Na'ers.
in the 70s when we had this show , my mother was always taken with santini. she loved his moves.
I was howling, I remember watchin sha na na in the 70's takes me back.
I used to watch this back in the 70;s brings back memories
Gotta have that "Whoops, la de dah!" at the end. They done good on this song.
Thank you so much for posting this Johnnie and santini are my favorites I love the way they sing this song
Great song!
Wish they'd stayed on the air a little bit longer
i was just thinking the same exact thing. This guy can sing anything they sang if not better
wow.....what fantastic vocals...love Sha Na Na
Great to watch and see. Top marks. Good Entertainment, Fantastic voices. Just wish i'd been around at the time. Thanks to TH-cam and the uploader.
I LOVE THIS IS MUSIC'
Same here...... well, and talking with him is great, too. What a sweet guy!

ANOTHER GREAT VERSION TYVM

I agree with you totally.
Santini's voice is great but once again Johnny steals the show with his amazing voice.
great mix...my brothers and sisters watched and sang along with sha na na all the time
thank thank you for posting!!! reliving my adolescent years!! man i grew up watching this cheesy show and loved every minute!!
I really do miss this I used to watch this all the time love love it back when music was real
Like Frankie Valle is the voice of the 4 Seasons, Johnny Contardo is the voice of Sha Na Na. The very distinctive sound.
SUPREME!
Love Sha Na Na.....like almost every song. But where can I get their tv-performances??
@sshelget That is brilliant !!!! Johnny who has one of the best voices of my lifetime would be a wonderful mentor. He is..
Johnny Angel...you're an angel to us
Santini Powell has the greatest voice ever
Jesus murphy havn't seen this since the 70's the good old days rock on
I forgot just how funny these guys were!
Probably the most talented musicians in the business -- and the best educated. Bowser is a Julliard graduate.
Denny became a lawyer and Santini an orthopedic surgeon. Shame they didn't hire Brian May.

love it.
I WILL, JOHNNY!!! I ABSOLUTELY WILL!!!!!

Santini is underrated
And a world class orthopedic surgeon in real life. These guys overachieved in life as well as an oldies revival.
yeah they are all successful outside of their showbiz careers...admirable
He was always [and still is] my favourite in this group that I really enjoyed a lot [and still do].
You make some very good points. I can't stand rap, either. You should check out the rest of Sha Na Na's videos and see just how much talent that guy, Johnny Contardo, really is. :)
Not only johnny contardo, all of the guys! Both the originals and the replacements like Johnny contardo and Jon bowzer bauman
theyre all great but i love wtching bowzer and jocko move. jocko is so soft and smooth ..Bowzer is in a league of his own
Эти божественные постановки сводят с ума!)) Какое время было!

Happy Thanksgiving to you guys
Where are the dvds? I’d gladly pay to have the complete set.
OMG Johnny's falsetto!Like buttah!
Awesome song. Love them to death. Johnny and Bowzer are my favorite. But I love them all.
Ah takes me back to my childhood memories, in the 70s better 70s where a better time then today shit of a generation

Santini!
Written and originally done by Maurice Williams with The Zodiacs.
Hi guys I miss you all Sally
frankie valli & the 4 seasons may have done this song, but it was first recorded by maurice williams & the zodiacs in 1960.
Santini Is So Cute!!!!!!!!!
Hi guys I miss you guys
Santini is now an orthopedic surgeon in Beverly Hills. And Denny is a law professor. Pretty cool
You are looking forward to seeing you last time I see you on my heart
GOOD StuFF . Good job. If everyone, like, my Boss...
Yep! And if any of you has ever watched "Dirty Dancing," the song was played in its entirety.
Hmmm... Think I'd like to see that movie again....

I always sing along loud with contardos parts lol
Me just love you baby
@rollo131 Scott Powell has offices in Burbank and Santa Monica. He may have been in Beverly Hills, but certainly is not there now.
Did you know that Santini is an orthopedic surgeon?
my wife worked with him at kaiser hospital in panorama city calif
No way! That’s amazing!!
Yes I did. I wonder how he had time for all of the education when they toured 150 days a year!

@melanie8771 you just have excellent taste in music that's not insanity lol
johnnnnny contardo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the first time I totally understood the words. For about a million years I thought the second line was "Please, please, please, please tell your daddy you're gonna!" Yikes!
I wonder how they picked who did which songs with a group this large...
Johnny Contardo is a high tenor, Santini a mid-low tenor. He sounds a bit like Elvis. 2 different vocal ranges, just part of a multi-voice harmony group that must work together to create that blend. Great stuff that takes a lot of rehearsal time.
Don't go away from me please say talk to me please I fall in love with you guys
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons also sang it, in the '60s.

johnny contardo
Oh man,
those guys could have given Frankie Valle and the 4 Seasons a run for their money.
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons also sang it in the '60s.
Dude ~ This guy is now an orthopedic surgeon.
The guy in the red shirt, looks like a cross between Billy Crystal and John Leghusiamo. (Can't spell his last name)
:-O
Me bad girl that you don't understand me 😜🤣🤣
Just to let u know, im married with 2 gorgeous kids, a job, a houseful of pets, friends in plenty, so no not lonely but loving Johnny xx
Hi Stacey
LOL, I always thought Jackson Browne made this song famous. Who the hell is the original artist? Not Sha Na Na, right? Sha Na Na only did covers I thought.
Hmmmmm. Now I have to look this up!
