Wow I had forgotten just how good and versatile Sha Na Na was. What a great group, they were keeping a great genre of music alive and introducing it to new generations.
Jan still sings pretty good here even after the accident nearly took his life. I always confused Jan and Dean with The Beach Boys until my Dad bought me a cassette of theirs. Funny how 2 guys can sound like four. They were really brilliant and Surfing Music would not have been the same without them.😎
This show was so cheesy, but oh so good. I have one of their records. I was just a little kid when this show was on. I think the show came on tv on either Saturday afternoons or Sundays.
For those who don't know, Jan Berry was nearly killed in a car crash in 1966 and had to learn to write with his left hand. Before that, he was an unbearable control freak that was generally hated in the industry. Dean helped Jan recover and do stuff like this appearance. They're probably both pretty high here.
It's always funny to me who some of these guys remind me of. One of the Gold Guys looks like Billy Crystal... and the guy in the Striped Black and Red shirt and sunglasses looks like Robert Culp...
$4.95 for surf and turf. Now you'd be lucky to get an order of fries for that.

Screamin' Scott Simon was great. Loved Sha Na Na as a kid, watching them on tv.
These guys met in Columbia University so the opening skit isn't actually out of character.
@Tysto I believe you really need to do some fact checking!
Grew up watching this lighthearted, family friendly show. Fun entertainment and Incredible singers. We came from a better place than today.
Santini has a great voice, and, truth be told, he's the most charming one!
Great voices,great songs,great guys,great Times
Shout out to Bobby D for his historical version of “Mack the Knife”, who sadly passed away as a Legend in 1973 at only 37.
I'm glad the intro of the guys in the beginning.
I wonder if the cast of WKRP in Cincinnati ever stop by the studio to see Sha-Na-Na. They were taping their shows at the same studio facilities.
Sha Na Na was a better show!
They tried to get on the Sha-na-na stage but slipped on the grease

Johnny and Donnie
Thanx< Is this a Screen Capture?
No, it was taken of VHS tapes, which is why the quality is bad in places where the tapes degraded
