I tie hundreds of jigs mostly for Crappie and Bream.. I tie some larger ones for my friend who fish for Bass or Stripers. I don’t bother with a heat gun, I just use a candle. The only thing is you can’t get your head too close to the flame or you will get soot on your head. Like you said there is not much better than landing a big fat slab on a jig you made. As for whip finishing, you will get the hang of it.. it just takes a little practice. I paint a thin coat of Resin over my thread, head and eyes to prevent chipping. You will DEFINITELY lose it before it chips. Was great watching your style and I appreciate your tip on TJ’s Tackle I will definitely have to order some new paints from them, they have a lot of cool custom colors! Thanks and keep tying

a tip i picked up from my tying mentor is that you double the flash around your thread so you use half as much thread and loop it around to the other side. most efficient way to use it. great video

Only thing I want to change on there is the fancy upgrade handle and the brass set screw to replace the plastic one that came factory. Thanks for watching 🤩

Great video…I had problems with my 1st whip finisher from Umpqua so purchased a 2nd from Loon and the difference was night & day…after comparing, the Loon had much sharper angles while the Umpqua was more square. After bending the Umpqua angles more aggressively to match those of the Loon, they both work very well.
