- Paul warned the Thessalonian church of “the apostasy!” What is it? Will the church experience it? Is it the same as the Tribulation? These and many other questions will be addressed by Pastor Mike Golay in his new teaching, “The Great Apostasy.”

Excellent study! I totally agree with you and thank god for blessing me with some pretty good dissemination of those claiming to preach the word of Jesus. I have been caught up with a few of them but in time the lord put it on my heart that it’s time to run from this guy! The silver lining every time I left a false teacher the lord lead me to one or two more teachers that were spot on with their teachings and making Jesus the focus of everything. I hope we are removed from this world very very soon. Watching and praying🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I have seen the apostasy in the church I used to attend. I tried desperately to warn them. I was even a leader in that church. I stood in front of the congregation and tried to explain it to them and the hatred in the eyes of many of those listening was bone chilling. Bad scene, Satan had infiltrated that church while I was sick and couldn't attend for several years. I left and went to the back of the church and prayed in a cloak room, weeping. They have since, in the last four years, fallen even further. They are now barely a social gathering and I still mourn for those that remained. The birth pains are nearly at an end.
David A. Dennis I have had a similar experience and it’s very disheartening to see what is truly happened to the church it is no more than a country club boys and girls club and a place to gather to socialize and to eat

I don't understand how the great FALLEN AWAY would occur AFTER the rapture of the Church.
What would they be fallen away from if the Spirit of Truth and the Church is no longer on earth?
When the Light of the world is removed, what's left is DARKNESS. And so, there would be nothing to fall away from.
Since we agreed some fallen away is occurring now, a more plausible explanation would seem to be that The GREAT Fallen Away also will occur when the "Salt of the earth", the light of the world", the Church and The Spirit of Truth is on earth.
It proves they're fallen away from something.
Please correct me if I'm not understanding this correctly.

@@theloveofthetruth5984 Actually the rapture will only take place just before the revealing of the Lawless one. I think we are already seeing the Apostasy and the eventual rise of the lawless one. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. I think your logic is correct but what if it does mean departure and the focus is then placed upon Israel after the rapture? Then the rebellion could take place which would be the rebellion against God's Law. Would the Jews still be considered the light of the world once the church is removed? This is a very interesting topic for sure.

You gave some good reasons to consider the apostasy to mean a rebellious departure from the faith. The other meaning, that it’s a physical departure, has some valid points as well, even though it is a fairly new interpretation of the passage. But you made an excellent defense of the original reading which I greatly appreciate! 👏👏 With a Protestant “reformed” church and a Pope that thinks we all worship the same God, it looks like the falling away from the truth has already begun. I can attest that Bible believing Christians face mocking and scorn already from these elements... I suppose in my mind, either way of looking at it - we are out of here soon!
Reformed church?? Reformed churches are very close to the sound doctrine of the Bible eg: John MacArthur, John Piper et al. The troubling ones are the word of faith movement churches and prosperity gospel.
Almona Prisca It’s sad the Body of Christ eating its own. Now , there are cults that are obviously just that and the Catholic Church is going past it’’s time to get it’s doctrine from the Bible instead of following priests, popes, and rituals traditions.

Exactly, it's already been written in the new testament gospel many false teachers and prophets will arise. Lawlessness comes first before anything will takes place. Everything you have shared is written in the bible.

The Lord gave me the number 777 and then right after that the number 646. Whenever I see the number 777 I think of completion and rapture. Many Christians have been saying flight 777 is ready for departure. But when God gave me the number 646 meaning

I was a bit confused . But now I believe the Lord was saying flight 777 is ready for departure 😊 well anyways thank you for sharing that.

The Love of The Truth I’m not completely sure myself. But I think God is showing me that the apostasia the falling away used in 2 thes 2:3 is departure. The rapture of the church.

The Holy Spirit is the Restrainer. The Holy Spirit lives in the hearts of believers. The believers will be caught up, but there will be many who come to faith in the tribulation.
The archangel Michael is the Restrainer. Daniel 12:1, Rev. 12.
Peter Terrell.. The Holy Ghost is given to the heart of the believer...The Holy Spirit delivers....Most teach they are one and the same. Words not spelled the same do not mean the same. Can be similar but not the same. Basic etymology!

The falling away is already here. It breaks my heart to see but so many pick and choose what Scripture to believe rather than loving Him enough to obey his Word.

The issue is if we look at 2 Thess 2:8... Then shall the Wicked one be revealed. So ask WHEN? You have to go back to verse 6. It’s when the “what withholdeth be taken out of the way” So now you got to back track some more because he just said and NOW YOU KNOW? Know what? You have to back track some more and it takes you back to the Greek word APOSTASIA. There is where the 3 camps go in 3 directions: is it rebellion, falling away or departure? Paul is saying NOW! YOU KNOW! He just said now you know that what withholdeth will be taken out of the way. To me that’s another way of saying they depart.

I loved your story about talking with the rabbis. I just had a “discussion” with a family member and feel they are deceived. I was sitting here discouraged at my failure to adequately express myself and do it with love.

Good morning here from the Philippines, Pastor Mike! I'm so grateful to the Holy Spirit guiding and helping me to understand the true gospel of God. It's discerrning power is so evident and solidly instilled in my heart and mind that aside from the teachings I received directly from the Words of Him in the Bible and hearing from my own Pastor and Pastors like you, Jeff, Barry and Amir. They are sound doctrines. My restless spirit searching for truth and sound doctrines teaching had finally found it's rest. Any other doctrines taught differently/falsely or interpreted adversely, is now easily and quickly discerned by the true wisdom and knowledge of my God, my Lord and only Saviour, Jesus Christ.

We can depart from the faith, we can also depart to be with Christ. Context seems to indicate that this is speaking of our gathering together unto Him. "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a FALLING AWAY *FIRST* , and that man of sin be REVEALED, the son of perdition" (v. 3) Something had to happen FIRST, before the man of sin could be revealed. In verse 6 Paul says, "NOW YE KNOW what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time", and that is obviously the "falling away", *the departure* . Paul then clarifies this saying, "he who now letteth [same as withholdeth] will let [withholdeth], until he be TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY. And *then* shall that Wicked be REVEALED" (v. 7-8) Before the "man of sin" or "that Wicked" could be revealed, the "falling away" or the church being "taken out of the way" had to happen first. I totally agree and heard pastor JD Farag just did the study on 2 these 1-12. you have to go to earlier bibles. once again the passage was translated wrong. it is departed not falling away

kim madonna Andy Woods has a good booklet on it ,you can download it as a kindle book it’s cheap and doesn’t take long to read but lays out a very convincing case for it to mean departure .
I was surprised they took this stance. JD, Jack and many others teach the departure. Their teachings do a great job of proving it. So, I don't agree with the falling away teaching.

@@gnc1962 thank you! I've actually been reading up on this/ watched some videos after I watched the above video. I'm quite confused now, because one says this and the other one says that. And all good teachers and the both explanations make sense !! I just want to know the truth of course of what it really means.
What do you think of this: Verse one in 2Thess2 says: "Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers..."
and verse 2: "not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come."
then in verse 3: "Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the 'apostasia' comes first," ...
So my question: "the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him" >>> is that what's meant with the day of the Lord? I don't think so, right? The day of the Lord: would that be when the 7 year tribulation starts? Some time after the rapture, or maybe right away?
And in verse 3, the 'apostasia' FIRST, well yes, it could very well mean departure.

Right now, I definitely lean more towards the explanation of 'departure'. It sure would have been simpler though if it would have said in that verse that "that day will not come, unless the gathering together to Him comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed" (lol). As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I know the Great Apostasy did occur. I know the Church is true and I know God the Father lives plus His Son Jesus Christ, who died for the sins of the world. I testify that continuing revelation is true and that the Restoration is true. There have already been many apostasies and it's still happening. God's words through His Son Jesus Christ are still forever.

Pastor Mike, you certainly have your own way of saying things. "The anti-Christ. Now he's a piece of work!" I actually laughed out loud at that. I must remember NOT to be drinking something while listening to you lest I start laughing and it comes shooting out of my nose.
