1124 has a gap, but you don't actually have to use the "2" part of it. 114 alone is the same thing, ends in a hard knockdown, prevents wakeups, and is completely safe, gapless. If I can condition my opponent to try to duck, I then just casually throw out his lightning fast shoulder charge here and there and bag a tidy baker's dozen percent of damage raw 114, 11, b4, and his pokes are all completely safe, if not 0 on block, and can be mixed in with a charge to catch the duckers. Basically what I do is this: whiff punish with a safe 114, then use the resulting HKD pressure to try for a roll uppercut or a charge or a partially-whiffed b4 or something
Taven and daegon as brothers look like Twins,if you were to flip their roles,if taven was the corrupt brother who aged and Daegon was the good guy,the story of MK armageddon would be the same.
Taven and Daegon do exist within the modern era be it via lore in the ending for Rain in MK11. With all the rumours about Onaga being the next big bad in MK12 there might be a chance of bringing them back either as playable characters or NPCs.
They're definitely underrated especially Taven, I found his character better than Shujinko who was an idiot lol 😆 Daegon is one dimensional typical bad guy wants power etc but Taven was far more interesting and I feel has parallels with Sub-Zero/Kuai Liang with his battle with Bi Han etc
If MK12 is a reboot and takes place in the past as hinted, we could, and SHOULD, get Daegon as a character. Buuuut, NRS doesn't like to veer to far off the MK2 character structure, or use the 3D era characters much, so we probably wont...
Young Shujinko is a badass hero design. Also Bruce Lee inspired like Liu Kang but different. I would love if they brought him back with an expanded move set.
shujinko as the archetypal wizened old martial arts master was a really good design, easily my favorite new addition to deceptions roster, even if he basically played like a reskin of kung lao from deadly alliance with a bunch of other characters special moves. taven and dagon on the other hand had the same problem as a lot of the characters they added in mk 4 and deception, aka just being way too generic looking
Taven and Daegon are funny in that Taven proves the more mature fighter than his younger brother, even though Daegon is technically older during the events of Armageddon. That, I think, is why Taven is so much more balanced than Daegon.
I always liked how Taven played more, but I think that just boils down to I had to play as him through all of konquest. outside of Konquest I'd rather be anyone else then these two.
I agree that their designs are pretty generic. As were their moves. But I did like the bit of personality Taven showed in the Konquest Mode. He's shown to not be very patient and occasionally sarcastic, which makes him contrast decently enough from the normally noble Liu Kang. Backstory wise, they're interesting, even having Rain as a Half-Brother. Gameplay wise, him being a beginner friendly type might explain why he's only Mid-Tier.
somehow, the way i rationalize it, Taven being in the "solid mid tier" on the list kinda makes sense for his lore? The two demigods have always had this "ambassador of the world" feel to them, and a character with that vibe makes sense to be a well-rounded jack-of-all-trades, master of none character in a fighting game. Can't say the same thing for Daegon tho, and as someone who considers MKA as their most favorite game, Daegon's pretty much in my list of characters that I hardly ever play due to the fact that he just feels so slow to play, and not in a good way.

Besides 11, he's pretty unsafe right??? B4 is a high and a lot of his strings have punishable gaps in them
1124 has a gap, but you don't actually have to use the "2" part of it. 114 alone is the same thing, ends in a hard knockdown, prevents wakeups, and is completely safe, gapless.
If I can condition my opponent to try to duck, I then just casually throw out his lightning fast shoulder charge here and there and bag a tidy baker's dozen percent of damage raw
114, 11, b4, and his pokes are all completely safe, if not 0 on block, and can be mixed in with a charge to catch the duckers.
Sigh childhood comes rolling back
They're definitely underrated especially Taven, I found his character better than Shujinko who was an idiot lol 😆 Daegon is one dimensional typical bad guy wants power etc but Taven was far more interesting and I feel has parallels with Sub-Zero/Kuai Liang with his battle with Bi Han etc
Shujinko wasn't an idiot, he was groomed as a kid to believe he was doing the work of the Elder Gods.
If you get lazy playing the single player, you can easily spam Taven’s fireball for an easy win
I feel like the character designs of Taven and Daegon, as well as guys like Jarek, just scream "oh yeah, numetal was popular during these games."
At the end of the video, whats that clip of Ermac in the forest from? I've never seen it
If MK12 is a reboot and takes place in the past as hinted, we could, and SHOULD, get Daegon as a character. Buuuut, NRS doesn't like to veer to far off the MK2 character structure, or use the 3D era characters much, so we probably wont...
Let's go!
Shujinko should have been included! 🥲 I’ve been dying to know how he is in the meta for Deception and MKA
Probably nostalgia goggles since MKD was my first MK game and is still my fave, but I always loved Shujinko
Shujinko was broken af if I remember correctly
Young Shujinko is a badass hero design. Also Bruce Lee inspired like Liu Kang but different. I would love if they brought him back with an expanded move set.
He's actually really good in deception but in armageddon I don't know about him
shujinko as the archetypal wizened old martial arts master was a really good design, easily my favorite new addition to deceptions roster, even if he basically played like a reskin of kung lao from deadly alliance with a bunch of other characters special moves. taven and dagon on the other hand had the same problem as a lot of the characters they added in mk 4 and deception, aka just being way too generic looking
Rain really is the best son of Argus
Armageddon was such an odd lovable game, I still prefer deception because of the combos but Armageddons roster will always hold a place in my heart
VERY COOL TOO MY FRIEND
I for one I'm glad that Daegone from the series
Our boy Rain is still the best son of argus 💯
No
Taven and Daegon are funny in that Taven proves the more mature fighter than his younger brother, even though Daegon is technically older during the events of Armageddon. That, I think, is why Taven is so much more balanced than Daegon.
I forgot Shao Kahn was playable in the 3D games how good was he?
I'd like to see them return along with Blaze and especially Onaga. would be cool to see NRS do a new take on them.
It would be appropriate if daegon was the first dlc character and taven was the last.
Just realized your names of ketchup and mustard likely came from your affinities for sektor and cyrax, and I hate that that’s just now clicked
Can we get sindel she's my personal favorite character and would love an episode on her
It's fitting that Daegon is just worse than Taven and only the dual swords give him anything, since canonically, one of his swords is actually Tavens.
I always liked how Taven played more, but I think that just boils down to I had to play as him through all of konquest. outside of Konquest I'd rather be anyone else then these two.
When tf did you get a bow qnd arrow i remember just spamming fireball for far away enemies
