lestatcanada one of his custom moves in Sm4sh had him using a sword (it was a custom for his warlock punch and had big range)

Stryker's story in MK9 in a nutshell.
Stryker: "This invasion is nuts, but I have to protect my city."
Raiden: "You are destined to help protect the world!"
Stryker: *Immediately gets murdered by Sindel and turned into a revenant.*
Fr tho, Raiden really screwed everything up there. Instead of bumbling through, why didn't he just, like, shoot him? Like, just get someone to bring a gun and shoot him in the head. Also, why did Raiden when sending the premonition go "He... must... win!" Like, that is so stupidly vague. Why didn't he just say Kahn? Oh, yeah, because they wanted to add a mystery to the plot
@Ivan Gujski I mean, Kahn must win has the same amount of syllables as he must win, so I don't see any problem

His Armageddon look is even cornier than this MK3 one. That's quite the accomplishment. Always had a soft spot for this guy.

Someone actually WON a recent MK9 tournament with Stryker. He's definitely low tier, but he's actually a good counter-pick against Kenshi. Since Kenshi is one of the most oppressive meta characters, that gives Stryker a pretty big breath of life, and I was so hype watching him take the set.

Doesn't he have a Beretta?
Having family who work under multiple branches of the police, I've always loved Stryker even though he was relatively poo poo. I always enjoy playing as Law Enforcement in games since it was a weird way of me playing as the roles my parents (and now brother) have. Even though he never saw much limelight when it comes to kompetetive, He's still my biggest, most wanted candidates for MK11's next Kombat Pack. Love him and his character to death, and would be awesome to see. Bring the Kop back!

Unfortunately, most of the fanbase doesn't like him so the chances of him returning are very slim. He was only included in Armageddon and 9 by obligation: Armageddon went for including every character that had existed in the franchise and 9 was a reboot of the first 3 games.

Stryker is one of my favorites MK characters.
He is not a ninja, he doesn't have magic or is a god.
He is just a badass police cop.
He rocks!
And that's exactly why I like it and it's my third favorite character after Kitana and Reptile. Stryker deserves to finish in two classifications ... that of the most underrated characters of the Mortal Kombat saga ... and that of the most interesting and particular characters of the saga.

was thinking the same but then I realized that his kit would have payed off well in MK11. you got mid/ long poke and can just play decent footsies then enhanced roll to punish for free dmg.
I would say that Sonya and Cassie are actually more similar to what Stryker is...With better tools. And more of them.
And that's the thing : Stryker has no reason to come back because he would be redundant. And you can't even use the background or personality arguments because Stryker is kinda boring really. Yeah, he's your average Joe... But that doesn't make a character. It's an archetype, not a backstory.

Kind of odd about the whole lack of gunfire in base MK3. I could have sworn I was able to get Stryker to fire his pistols on various console ports (special mention goes out to the Midway Arcade Classics Collection, which I had on the Nintendo GameCube).

I really miss Stryker. My first MK game I was introduced to growing up was MK9 and Stryker immediately caught my eye and he has been my main for years. Then MKX came out and he was not playable and was replaced by an edgy cowboy (I actually like his new design in MK11 tho) and it really made me sad. He’s not an overpowered god, a ninja with super powers, a robot or a monster. He’s just a highly trained police officer doing his job protecting the city. Nothing in MK made any sense but Stryker actually made sense because he was just doing his job and looking cool doing it
He's canonically a Revenant. Just like Liu Kang and Kung Lao are Revenants. Therefore he should be in MK11.
But hey...at least we have Frost and D'Vorah, right? #sarcasm
Frost is awesome in MK11.
I think NRS just needed more women in the game so we got them. Also explains why the most hated character from MKX (jaqui) made it into the game over a lot of more hype characters.

The first time I played MK3 and saw his backwards hat on top of what I thought was a mullet....to quote Mr. Horse from Ren & Stimpy: "No sir, i don't like it."
Used to love Stryker. His older stun gun and the grenade tosses made him freaking unstoppable with a player who knows how to use them.

I remember the first time I saw MK3 at the arcade. I was so excited to play a new MK game, then immediately very confused and upset when I saw the character select screen. Where's all the ninjas? Robots? Anyways, point of all this is that Stryker was the first character I played as. Mainly because he had a backwards hat on, which during the 90's was a status of being cool lol.
I just love the idea of someone being so underpowered that the devs was like "hey, let's just give him a gun".
I remember the long running joke of T Hawk in SF4 getting a gun in whatever later update they'd make. They should have done that.

Stryker was a bad character in 1v1 in MK9
But TAG Stryker was epic! Stryker's assist bagged tremendous rewards when combo'd with Kabal or ESPECIALLY Cyrax. Juggles with Stryker assists were terrifying and it made top tiers like Cyrax or Kabal the kiss of death if you had 2+ bars. Stryker was a pocket for me during the haydays of MK9, where I primarily played competitive tag. God I love Stryker
I love how you either love Stryker because he has a cool concept or hate it because it is a lame character
I personally loved playing him in mk9 and how his alternate costume looked
I personally don't think he's lame.
This guy's whole look and vibe just screams nostalgic 1990s for me. When I see him, he just reminds me of my childhood. I always thought he was a really cool looking. In Armageddon, I was disappointed at his cyberpunk redesign, but I was glad to see him return. In 2011, since they were revisiting the 1990s, I was glad to see that his most recent design harkened back to his original design, even though they went with a look more reminiscent of John Cena instead of the dumpy Jim Belushi he originally was. Old-school Stryker is super cool.
Yeah i mained Stryker on MK9. He was fun to play. I am sad they haven't brought him back.
He's never coming back, it would be too controversial with what's going on in the world.
I would say "never" is an overstatement. Besides, he doesnt need to still be a cop to come back. He was quite different in Armageddon.

@16:25 You can combo into the X-Ray. Gun Cancels build meter. All his bnb combos can do 40%+ without meter especially and only if on jump in and presuming you don't mind crossing up. You can jump into the low string, the launching string, and, if your out there Nether Realm put MK9 Stryker into future games please thank you.

Even if he’s not very good competitively, he’s still a very likable character, especially in Mortal Kombat 9 because they gave him a lot of personality, and to nice change of pace to see someone who’s not a God, not magical, not a demon, not a martial arts expert, he’s a normal person fighting for earthrealm and I love it. One of my favorite Mk characters.

8:00 - submachine gun. The brass it expels are all straight cases, which points to it being pistol brass. Proper machine guns fire rifle calibers, which are usually necked down. Submachine guns fire pistol ammo.

I would love to see a video for Shinnok. Hes my favorite in MKX but I was never any good with him so I mained Kung Jin. Would love to see his capabilities tho. And would be fun to revisit him in Armageddon (although he didnt seem very good in that one either)

I've always felt like this character never belonged in the mortal Kombat universe
Stryker is the winner of TYM 2024. He beated Kenshi at really hype matches. This actually shows that although in MK9 all characters are broken & balance is poor but it still depends on player. It shows even Jade or Stryker can beat characters like Kabal. In mk9 we don't have bad character only top tiers are a bit more broken.
Stryker was pretty cool, imo

In Mortal Kombat 3 there was a contest to create an original character for Mortal Kombat 3 ... the winners were 3 ... Nightwolf, Kabal ... and Stryker! And of the 3 he is now the only one missing in Mortal Kombat 11 ... and he is also the only revenant who is missing in the same chapter along with Smoke
