The issues we have with a majority of touring sites charge a lot for bringing a dog, which a lot of us do these types of holidays because we do love the being away from home with our own ‘home’, is we often do not even have a small excersize area or a dog bin n site. Sites charge but don’t provide anything. If you pay extra for a child when there is a play area then we can understand that, also there is the extra water/ electric costs involved with children. We seldom have dog wash areas on sites and , I imagine, the majority of units on a site at any one time will have a dog with them. Considering we are supposed to be a dog loving nation we tend to be poorly serviced in this respect.
Nice one Mark, I’m already looking for next year using this site, when I find something that will suit our needs I then you tube the site to see everything about the site. This works well and you see what it’s like before parting with hard earned cash. Some sites are very overpriced and once you add on the extras etc it can push the price a bit. We also tend to use pitch up aswell. Everything is going up apart from wages but always looking to save a few quid but we love caravanning life 😊
Hi Mark, Most of the complaints I hear about high prices refer to the CAMC sites which have gone up and are not comparative. I use CLs more now which can be great value. Thanks for suggesting campsite uk I will look at them for next year.
@@kierandouglas7798 Certified Location, normally a 5 caravan pitch, some don't have all the bells and whistles, but very cheap. If you Google Caravan CL sites. 👍
hi Mark. Love your videos most interesting. On the subject of pitch prices. as a family we have visited a certain site in Cornwall for 20 years, in 2019 our serviced pitch cost us £319.00 for 12 nights. Bring on Covid... and 2020 same pitch same week they wanted £549.00 for the same 12 nights. Now on the same site Camping & Caravan club run a THS (temporary holiday site) which we have used since 2020 and paid £180 for the same holiday. gone up this time to £200. but without the 100 pitches used by the THS the site would have been empty, we counted 30 other families on a 300 pitch site. And they have again put pitch prices up this year by 10%
It's not campsites, your correct. The glass's guide can't continue because all can see that manufacturers rrp (fake price) is a joke. We like your videos, keep up the good work. All caravan prices have to come down, it's as simple as that.
Hi Mark, why do you think campsites charge for dogs?? Apart from a bit of water, what do they use up?? Still think sites are expensive for what they are offering/providing. Even with your own search, in the summer months your looking at £50/night for grass pitches with electric 😢 Great video as always Mark, but after caravanning for 20 years, i have seen on the majority of occasions (not all) that campsites have risen their prices dramatically since Covid. Gas and electric costs have come down, but pitch prices are increasing, why??
@@philipwright5294 thanks Philip, yes same for children. I understand why people say it's more expensive than it was, and not as cheap. I know electric for commercial use hasn't come down and for us is still getting more expensive. Then wages have risen, so each employee now costs on average £2080 more per year, so 10 staff and that's an extra £20k per year from somewhere they need to find. I think they key now is being a bit more flexible, dates, location, and cheaper sites can be had and a very cheap holiday is possible. 👍
We live in Dorset and definitely wouldn't recommend Herston Caravan site 😢. The best ones are Wareham Forest, Birchwood Wareham, Hunters Moon (CAMC) Crossways (CAMC), Monkton Wyld.
On CAMC site now, very tired. Serviced pitch mid week £40/night. Travelled round area (Peak District) a lot of much better presented CL sites with same and better facilities for £25/ night! Not planning on using CAMC sites in future.
You can not blame the campsites for putting prices up. Their costs have gone up as well, such as electricity, water, waste, wages and the biggest cost is insurance. Some large sites with club houses, swimming pools and more could be paying £10's of thousands in insurance. People should consider the running costs of campsites before criticising them as too expensive, some sites are only aloud to be open for a certain number of months per year but still have to cover their costs for the entire year.
I guess the caravan builders have to scale down and only build to order , its a bit off everything tho and it doesn't help when camp fees keep going up and also a lack off cheap real estate these days and rents going through the roof , you would probably make more money renting out your vans on site so people can live in them in your yard 😉
I can get same week in spain Half Board or canary islands for same cost as going camping and if dealers pre covid i bought a 6 month old caravan twin axel for £15,500 6 birth now caravan companys are takeing the p as it used to be a working class holiday now they are asking £50,000 thats why Raymond james went bump over priced same as caravan sites used to be around £20 a night and what gets me if ive got a 6 birth with a dog and awning why are you being charged for your kids and Awning and dog your paying for a piece of land ie pitch why because they are greedy nothing to do with electric as ive seen couples useing electric fires pans ect ect its a rip off and if your competative and caravans are so cheap why is your prices higher than Glossop or Chichester Or Chris jones i can remember when you had 10 caravans and a bit of storage if you want to do a deal then in box me at rite price please .

currently on a site on outskirts of edingburgh over £40 a nite , its putting us off one of the cheap hotels etc can get a double room for that price
I guess you are staying at Mortonhall? What type of pitch are you on as prices do vary depending on pitch type.
I'm at portasham Dairy farm now. Good price and great site. They don't rip you off by charging more for an awning.
It looks a lovely site, have a great time 👍
25th October, should I take the skis mark.😆😂😂...
Stands a chance 🫣🤣🤣🤣

Some sites do charge for dogs. Why I don't know
Mark, offcourse your getting lower pricing at the dates you have chosen, its at the end of the season.
A lot of people bought campers during covid for staycations and now they want to get rid because they can go abroad instead.
We live in Dorset and definitely wouldn't recommend Herston Caravan site 😢. The best ones are Wareham Forest, Birchwood Wareham, Hunters Moon (CAMC) Crossways (CAMC), Monkton Wyld.
Definitely worth looking at reviews of the different sites too then lol 👍

Hi Mark what about June july and August ? Cheers
Hi Phillip, Caravansites.Co.Uk, have a look, not bad at most times of year. 👍
Been to herson campsite it's a horrible camp site. It's got gypsy's on site and the wash room are so horrible.
Interesting video, thanks, but I found the background music rather distracting.
Thanks , 👍
Hi Mark could you kindly give me a price for the swift challenger 560 u have just shown.

Enjoying the vids but please knock the background music on the head!
Will do 👍
Mark , you say there cheap but you could have spent 30k plus on your accommodation you just need somewhere to park it

Agree that on the whole, I thought prices were fair considering running costs.
