I think the biggest problem we all face at the moment is the price of the sites they are all taking the mick even with no hook up they are asking £45 per night i mean come on get real its a field for gods sake in the eighty's we use to pay per van now they want van and per person pathetic
Me and my partner Sue recently visited your Gailey branch, and was really looked after by Leeza, We were extremely impressed with the standards of your caravans, and in particular in this vlog we like the Sprite Major with fixed bed for lets say £15,000 - just under, at your other branch, we are trying to sort our finances out to buy it,..its perfect for what we want, We have done our homework/research and highly recommend this company, they are all honest as you can see in this video - and their other vlogs, they won't bullshit you, and do not try to "hard sell"..just a genuine company..!!
I’ve been thinking of buying another caravan now I’ve got grandkids - currently I go camping solo in my little campervan. However increasingly it’s cheaper for me to go into a hotel. The last time I went off to visit friend in Devon - which admittedly was in the school summer holidays - the cost of a pitch per night was from £60 to £80 a night! My little camper ended up parked in a hotel car park overnight - right on the sea front - whilst I enjoyed a single en suite bedroom, with free entertainment that night, free parking, and free afternoon tea, all for £50 for the night. The hotel even had an excellent indoor swimming pool that I enjoyed. It was a super hotel too. Site owners understandably made hay post Covid, but we have other choices now. They need to recognise that site prices need to come down to more realistic levels, especially sites that basically are offering only a grass pitch, with no extras, otherwise they risk pricing themselves out of the market. Even the club sites aren’t that cheap these days.
Just went to get some gas at my local caravan dealer…..never seen so many caravans up for sale you couldn’t even get 1 more in most have reductions of between 1-3k 2 years ago the yard was empty couldn’t get a van how times change
Your prices are great, shame, some C.L sites have gone expensive, just had 3 nights away,& it was £29 just for the electric. Good luck Mark, hope you get nice and busy.
The trouble is you are paying commercial tariff for your electricity not the slightly cheaper domestic tariff as sites are classed as commercial businesses.
Dont think the swift basecamp would be an easy van to keep the floor clean as the doors at the back a lot of pitches are just grass at the back so all the dirt would get trailed in
Always interesting to hear the dealer side of life! Curious to hear your opinion on using Diamond Brite or Paintseal to protect the van? Someone else has suggested that as an alternative given the expense of those two options using Gyeon Wetcoat which is a a DIY product that does a similar job but isn't a permanent fix like the others. Thanks!
Cars are also getting more and more economic, which means Less able to tow a caravan. Then, there is also the cost of owning a caravan, not just pitch fees but insurance, storage, and repair costs are all racing to the top.
Since the credit crunch in 2008/09 the caravan industry has really gone downhill to be fair. You used to have choice previous to those dark couple of years. Swift producing Abbey ( their best seller at the time) Ace, Sprite and of course swift. There was also vanmaster and to a lesser extent carlight serving the more discerning caravanner. Bailey,.coachman, swift and elddis left. I was hoping lunar could rise again but I doubt it. That leaves Adria to challenge the four major manufacturers we have left. Caravan parks have continued to raise prices and introduced electricity metering so their greed will also be their downfall.
We need to buy a van to use throughout the summer to stay away at golf competitions but with our limited budget we're really wary of wasting our limited funds on a dud...
@@thecaravanplace we went to look at caravans at Highbridge and they've got so many that we kept getting muddled and climbing into caravans we'd already looked at 🤣
The reason that people aren't buying them isn't the price of the caravan it's the price of the camp sites . Its ridiculous how can you chargee per person . Its just greed. This like the vpblack pools landlady will destroy this sort of holiday
I'd strongly agree with that. Families desperate for a holiday post covid but can't go abroad so got into caravanning only to find a lack of personal space is a factor.
Cheaper and less hassle to stay in hotel of airb&b. Why would anyone buy store and pull the life out a car with costs of fuel etc. answer they arnt… elddis sacking almost 200 staff
Prices are still going to drop, the COVID demand for stay at home holidays has gone so there are lots of used vans flood the market, it will get worse before better.
They are still very expensive for what they are: furniture on wheels. Pitch prices are through the roof hence why people stopped caravanning
Yes it's true, but everything else is also a lot more expensive, flights, hotels etc. 👍
I hear that old chestnut a lot now from car dealers, plumbers etc liars and thieves.@@thecaravanplace

Even down Cornwall prices are ludicrous, cheaper to do a cruise now!
Good to see a honest dealer well done and I enjoy your videos
Thanks 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Once again a very good video keep them coming 👍PAUL
Thanks 👍

Site owner's and the two clubs pushed prices up to take advantage of staycation campers reap what you sow!
Quality video Mark. Some nice 2 berths there.
👍

Wow that was a great deal, I have looked for hotels and same as everything seem crazy money 👍
Oh yeh.@@thecaravanplace
If we were still towing, I would love that Basecamp❤

Wow, sites need to use pay as you go meters for the electric, but suppose the cost for smaller sites is too much. Something needs to be done though 👍
The trouble is you are paying commercial tariff for your electricity not the slightly cheaper domestic tariff as sites are classed as commercial businesses.
We had 3 nights away on the 1st March and it cost us £24 for the electricity we will start using the gas next time .
That Pursuit is nice mate. That won't be there long. Fixed bunks for the grandkids. Ideal.
I bought in 2021 and sold it privately in 2023. I found it really expensive, not cheap at all, pitch fees and storage costs through roof
Yes everything went up a lot. 👍
Yeah its pitch prices that put me off
Is that Basecamp ok? Just saw a wet patch on that back table on the right as you walked in. Don’t know if you spotted it.
Could you say what lengths of the bunks are on the Pursuit please Mark.
Dont think the swift basecamp would be an easy van to keep the floor clean as the doors at the back a lot of pitches are just grass at the back so all the dirt would get trailed in
Brilliant video 👍
Thanks 👍

I have to say, the ones with the paint protection are always easier to keep clean. So depends on cost and if you think it's worth it. 👍
Greed will be the down fall of many a company

It is tough to find a good budget van, service history is normally what you need on the older ones, and a recent damp check. 👍

Funny how the utopia looks the most comfortable van ? What goes around comes around.😊
True 👍
Touring Caravan , It’s not cheap anymore and it dose not help caravan dealers going in to administration like Robinsons of Chesterfield
Yes 👍
The travel industry suffered due to Covid once restrictions lifted most people want a foreign holiday and in most cases it’s cheaper.
Enjoy your videos
👍 Thanks
So if I came to you for a used caravan, what would be the lead time on it?
Normally around 2-4 weeks. This Changes all the time subject to how many people buy at the same time, or if it's been quite on sales. 👍
Is it buyer remorse. Customers buying post lock down and then after a few trips away just realising it's not them maybe and selling on?
I'd strongly agree with that. Families desperate for a holiday post covid but can't go abroad so got into caravanning only to find a lack of personal space is a factor.
it will soon be cheaper to stay in a hotel if prices rise any higher
It is already.
😅I have been thinking the same and have holidayed with Coach Hotel packages for under £280 ALL INC 5 nights inc excursions
Cheaper and less hassle to stay in hotel of airb&b. Why would anyone buy store and pull the life out a car with costs of fuel etc. answer they arnt… elddis sacking almost 200 staff
I don’t like to see stuff stored on the shower tray

Don't think so prices to travel abroad have also gone crazy
Only time will tell.
honest vlog as always
👍
electric cars can't tow
Wish they was cheap up here in Scotland there still to much I’m looking for a fixed bed one around the 5 grand mark
