Your honesty is so inspiring. I have never tried any drugs, alcohol a few times when i turned 21. After almost losing my life during psychosis I'm petrified to drink with my antipsychotics because im afraid of going back into psychosis. I love how you tied your story into long-term recovery and it's truly inspiring.
Amazing video, Carolynn. I'm working my way through your content so I can figure out my favorite playlist of your videos. I want to show them to my daughter when the time is right. You mentioned you still cannot work? Have you ever considered being a peer support specialist? you'd be amazing at it!
@@Psychotic.in.Seattle You possess both a clinical approach and a deep sense of empathy. I know I would hire you on the spot to coach/mentor my young adult kid in her recovery.
@@christinehollenshead6201 aw thank you! Well I certainly do love working with adolescents & young adults. I guess I’m still a young adult? Old enough to seem middle aged to 20-something’s haha. Young adults deserve a lot of support, especially in these times.
@@Psychotic.in.Seattle my poor girl is 25 and for sure is in delussional thoughts from smoking weed, maybe its at the end its been 6 months and she been on weed for years, she was adopted at 3 so i have no history, thanks u
I love the music you pick for your vids. It reminds of if old-school hip hop or something. Weed is torturous... it pains me to see ppl with these types of illnesses smoking weed😮. I hope all is well, love the vids!
@@cre8ivelife554 aw thanks! I love digging through music for my videos. And yeah, weed is so much more dangerous than we’re led to believe. I instantly get concerned when friends of mine with schizophrenia or schizoaffective or bipolar tell me they’re self medicating with it. Like, no man! That’ll do the opposite!
Hey. You look good. I have five years clean and sober too. But I had learned to drink very moderately, like one or two beers every two or three months. I have not smoked pot since 1995. I wondered about addiction and how I don't have it very severe. I did come into the na fellowship at age 17 initially. And maybe god saw that I shouldn't have severe mental illness and bad addiction. I do want to use often and I'm not going to meetings. I read the na basic text a couple of years ago and knew about all of it because it was the language everyone spoke when I went to meetings a lot. I don't know what it's like there now in my hometown. A lot of good people who worked all 12 steps relapsed so be careful! You have ups and downs in recovery like my guitar isn't always a joy to play ...
I’ve gotten a lot out of NA! I love that fellowship. I go to a few others as well. Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, and Al-Anon. NA will always be my favorite. I’m not too picky when it comes to meetings. I think the 12 steps are cool no matter how you apply them. The NA way is my favorite way to work the steps.
Thank you

@@NavigatingthePeriphery oh gosh yeah I’m petrified of it now too! I’m glad you didn’t dabble in it, it’s sooo risky.
Thanks, Carolynn, for another helpful video. I always appreciate how much thought you put into them.
Thank you for noticing the effort! I try my best. 😊

You know, someone else mentioned that recently too! I will look into it. It sounds right up my alley.
