At 12 years old I was diagnosed with ADHD at 56 years old I was diagnosed with Autism which was 07-26-2024 It explains a lot about my past problems which I'm happier for it now glad I got it
I couldn't believe how difficult it was for my partner to get diagnosed with ADHD. The process is so difficult to navigate, multiple appointments and forms to fill in, if you have ADHD you will struggle to move through the process. They'll try and throw you off the waitlist for random, for missing random and unscheduled phone calls, not filling forms that you weren't told to expect and which fell into your junk email. You need a second, non ADHDer to help you, and that's not possible for everyone - it's so unfair.
Hi thanks for the video. I’ve been procrastinating about making a phone call for diagnosis for about a year while simultaneously doing a major deep dive into all things autism/adhd. I strongly suspect I have ADHD (inattentive) and suspect I could have autism too. I recently realised I might be procrastinating because I’ve heard so much negative stuff about the nhs process and I’m so used to being gaslit and dismissed by drs (and others) that I rarely go. I know I present a good front (masking) so I’m so worried I won’t be believed. I’m so burnt out though but the burnout isn’t helping my motivation - I have none!
@@daisychain914 oh my days you sound so similar to me! My advise would be this: get on the waiting list. Hopefully you’ll have doctors and assessors who are informed and aware of masking. I was/am exactly the same. I’m slowly discovering more and more about myself though each day, only because I sought that diagnosis. It’ll change your life, it won’t always be easy, but it’ll help you find yourself. 🩷
@@RhiannonCoop it’s gonna take so much effort - actually feels like the very last smidgen of energy I have left in me- but I guess I have to make that phone call. Thanks for the encouragement :)
Wow, I can’t believe that you got the ADHD diagnosis before the Autism one, I didn’t know that the process was like this. Thank you for sharing ❤
