Pokabbie actually made battling trainers worthwhile in 2.0, which is where the lion's share of your money comes from during a run, now. I have been listening to this for a few hours, confused as to how he can't afford anything, and when I swapped back in I realized he's been dodging trainers, lol. Early trainers are *usually* less risky, especially in the 2.01a update that's been out, so you're not going to get ganked by a random rival or ace trainer with Mega Rayquaza or Miraidon before you've even got your second badge. I usually do all the trainers up to badge 6 or so to make sure I can use the move tutor, buy Z crystals, mega stones, tera shards, etc (I'm one of those nutjobs who plays with most of the gimmicks on lol)
@@dantheman7312 they aren't roguelikes? I thought the rule was permadeath without progression(-some unlocks since tboi counts even though you unlock items for the pool and space bar items) while roguelites have progression like upgrades or money outside the runs like hades for example(in theory luna coins might count for RoR2 but the lite vs like war is still vague and I just say roguelike to the genre anyway since it's mostly associated with the NG(+) playstyle)
Dont get me wrong, Emerald Rogue is objectively the better game looking at it from a "How much should this be worth" perspective, and is much closer to an actual Pokemon game. Nobody is denying it's not a genuine accomplishment. But i can't get into it after Pokerogue, it's just so much easier to pick up and play. It's incredible we live in a world where we have both so all respect to anyone that disagrees.
I offer the Console VS Arcade game comparison. Both are fun, but in such extremely different ways that some folks click better with just one or the other.
I always say that Emerald rogue feels like small dosing so you still feel moments of rest while playing and pokerogue is the opposite where I feel a constant rush by going from 1 exciting moment to the next thanks to stuff like constant battles and the egg gacha gamble but it does lose it's effect faster on me so I don't like playing for a long session. I personally prefer Pokerogue for small simple sessions like maybe 100 floors(usually classic or challenges since endless get's boring really fast imo) while I enjoy Emerald Rogue when I want to do something challenging like brutal challenges and can spend longer sessions on it when I have lots of free time(spend like 7 hours on it last weekend which is a lot for me currently) both definitely feel really different for me at least.
Look at any of his second channel (plus/deluxe/gold) roguelike videos and the recurring bit was putting isaac in thumbnail. Probably had to differentiate from that
When it comes to mix-max Pokemon, I'd like to call attention to Onix: HP: 35 Attack: 45 Special: 30 Speed: 70 Defense: 160 (!!!) Three Pidgey-tier stats, below average speed for a final evolution, and Defense that's almost as high as all of its other stats combined.
1:31:32 : I would expect neither yuroball nor guy-ro-ball, but jy-ro-ball , gyro like as in gyroscope? 1:31:48 : oh ok he does address jy-ro . Hm. I don’t know the cases people have for the other pronunciations. Anyone care to enlighten me?
I think I vaguely remember gyro-as-yeiro being a greek sandwich wrap or something, and also it being a hard word to agree on pronunciation was a joke in a song somewhere, so I suspect some folks are just being contrary as a bit. Just my two hay-pennies.
@@sunshowers3838 Ah, yes, it does have that pronunciation in that context… but I would say that that is a different word (with the same spelling)? Thanks
I hope you all find someone who loves you the same way Jacob loves starting his video titles with “Apparently”
And end with “and just like that”
Its the best 😍
GASLIGHTER
my man chose murkrow!!
"updated". MY MAN THAT'S BASICALLY A SEQUEL WTF
I didn't realize Pokerogue and Emerald Rogue were different games at first, so I was like, "That's one hell of an update!"
Even today I still confused when watching the title, I was expecting Emerald Rogue but was watching Pokerogue content lol
I don’t mean to “well actually☝️” but I’m pretty sure gyro ball is pronounced (ji-row) because I believe the move is based off a gyroscope

If Frasier always sleeps there, what if cat-cam?
Next CDawgVA auction Jacob's gonna bring a Minior plush cuz it's da bomb
The disrespect of catching everything on the route exceot my favourite Pokémon, Alolan Sandshrew, when there was an empty party slot right there!
Enter the gungeon is probably my favorite roguelike
Im a big Wizard of Legend guy
Risk of Rain 2 for me is the GOAT, I also love Hades but that is a roguelite
@@DonDeAmelio actually a really good one! I remember how hard I struggled back when I first played that though it's definitely not easy.
Risk of Rain 2 and Enter The Gungeon are both roguelites not roguelikes

I was so confused, you outsped 2:03:25 *Why would you not just double into Dragon Pulse???*
Because the Dragon pulse was a crit. He would not have had enough damage to kill it.
