It is time for my story how I went on a Date with a Military boy and he sent me home at 2 am. It was crazy night and I felt like we both enjoyed it. But i feel like maybe it is a military thing when they are really good at prioritizing their values and goals. So It ended sad. Like I said I am very new to dating and at that point of my life I was extremely fresh. Maybe I expected too much for this gay guy I don't know.

When I was in the military, I realized that many of the guys didn't think of themselves as gay. They were trying to figure out who they were. Sometimes they wànted a little more than a buddy to hangout with. I always drove my car just in case things didn't work out. One night stands can be great but 20 miles from where you live can be dangerous for you
Every time I have hooked up with a guy on a first date it has always resulted in FAILURE. I realize it's not like this with everyone but sex changes everything. All the connections and admirations get weird and can get lost. I say respect your body and feelings, make him wait and work for it! If he really feels the same about you as you do then he will stick around.

Guys with women do the same thing, Leon. You need be more selective if you want to enjoy "hook-ups". The average good-looking guy who can easily attract a one-night hook-up, likely wants no more than to satisfy his needs. Some want more, but expecting more is a BIG mistake. This is very normal male, instinctive behavior ... egotistical, selfish, and horny.

I watched this for the second time and I think you did everything right and I don’t think your expectations were out of line. Think he should have taken you home or got you an Uber or let you stay. I would have never done that to someone.

In other countries, their society forces many to mature earlier. Emotional/sexual maturity can follow, or not. Just remember a lot of gay men only look for one thing unfortunately. It’s the whole thing where gay men had to be hidden or down low so it was always just hookup culture. It has yet to transition to relationships yet 🙁

It sounds like you two found a good common language, and that could have been a good basis for a friendship or deeper relationship. I agree that being sexual too soon can spoil things, but it can be very difficult not to allow physical chemistry to overpower your mind. I think he should have been a gentleman and taken you home, although the ride would probably have been a bit awkward. Great story Art, definitely he should have taken you home, especially since he said that you could stay then changed his mind. Im a lot like you that when things get sexual i get attached quickly hoping that they are being genuine and not just going for sex, sadly they usually just want sex. Hey! Let me tell you some tips about dating masculine military men in Texas. One word, don’t. After living here for a couple of years, I have come to see that guys in the military are usually looking for one night stands and genuinely have no interest in your life or with starting a relationship. They also usually come from very conservative families and are not open to others about their sexuality. And to be honest, someone who is really genuine and caring wouldn’t put “priorities” like going to the gym over the person they care about. He sounded like a douche to me and was just looking for a quick excuse.

You were not wrong in your expectations, but you also learned quite a lot about the nature of hook-up culture. The sad fact is that (especially with gays) even people who say honestly that they want a healthy, real start to a relationship where sex is not the first, second, or even third priority, they cannot follow through. And, most of the time, that poisons that relationship right away because it creates awkwardness, false emotion, and disappointed expectations. Because standing up for good boundaries is so rare, you have to be the one to take a stand, because you cannot expect the other to make it. Also, if you know you cannot drink and still be strong, then you have to not drink. Good and healthy people exist. They are worth waiting for. But, you have to choose to wait for them and seek to become someone that can relate to them.

I feel he should have driven you home or ordered you an UBER if he wanted you to leave at 2:00 a.m. and he knew that you lived 20 miles away and did not own a car. I'm ex military and would never try to talk about or try to impress anyone about weapons owned or carried nor even talk about them don't want people to know one way or the other shouldn't be a conversation on a date.
Personally if I slept with a guy and was really into him and had a good time with him he would be welcome to sleep by my side if he wished to showered or not after the fact and would get breakfast in the morning with me then get a ride home by me as well if he had to get back home the next day.

I realise, it's all about "right now," but meeting in a safe, public place for the first time is preferable, especially to a nighttime situation?
