    Apologies for the moment of odd camera work but had to film in between noisy building work outside. The peas told me the show must go on! : )

    Top tip - spirulina powder. The ones with really small mouths appreciate it and it's chock full of vitamins and some protein (it's a nutrient rich blue-green algae, you can buy organic powder on Amazon as a health supplement.) It floats on the top of the water and turns the light green. It slowly sinks and they go around picking at it. I currently have frozen brine shrimp in there with 5 juvenile puffers but they're more interested in the algae on the water surface at the mo - even the one who is struggling to eat.

    Yeah those frozen bloodworms can be a problem. Depending on the quality, they can be really tough. One time one of my puffers got a blood worm husk stuck in his mouth. He seemed ok, but couldn't eat anything else even though he kept trying. Eventually I scooped him out and (VERY CAREFULLY) used some tweezers to pull it out. After that he was fine, but it was stressful!

      Dancin9lady I had the same problem! Hooked him out with the net too and carefully pulled the bloodworm husk loose and out with my fingers. It was a bit nerve wracking back he was fine within a couple of minutes.

      @@peapufferkingdom118 I just got my baby Pea Puffers yesterday. We've made it through the first 24, which I am thrilled about. Everyone was telling me to expect to lose one in the first 24 hours, and probably another within a week. They're just impossibly tiny, and completely adorable. I will be rewatching your series for whatever I missed the first time through.

      @@jenay6586 That's great news! If you have de-wormer then add it straight away to be safe. They are very sensitive when they are that tiny. If they live well for the first few weeks or so then they should be pretty healthy. Good luck!

    Hello Rob! First of all thanks a lot for your detailed puffer diet explanation. I want to ask you a question: I want to feed my pea puffer with a ramshorn snails, so how often should I give it?

    Mine seems to do well with grindal worms, which what I fed it when it was younger. I do have snails around for it as well.

    Great videos. Have had pea puffers for a month now and they only eat frozen bloodworms and some pest snails from my other tank. They don't eat any other frozen foods so I might have to think about live food for some variety.

      @peapufferkingdom118  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dee! I would say don’t worry if they are only eating frozen bloodworms and snails. It’s a decent enough diet for them. I have recently discovered ‘Tubifex Worms’ which they all love. They just need washing 4-5 times before feeding. Might be worth seeing if a local fish store sells them. Live food is fun to feed though!

    Hey! I have a feeding problem with my red tail red eye puffer. So i practically saved them from the petshop where they were 3 in a glass size "tank". After bringing them home they ate but the next morning only the male went on doing so, the female swims around, mostly against the tank side and gives absolutely zero to the blood worms even if i am trying to targetfeed her. Is it going to improve? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a million in advance!

    Only a pound for live food? That's crazy, I wish I knew where to get live food that cheap here. My pea puffer only eats snails and frozen bloodworms so far. He still shows no interest in the frozen brine shrimp, I plan to see if soaking it in Garlic Guard will help so they don't go to waste. He showed zero interest in the ghost shrimp for over a week until he ate a molting one, now the others whack him when he tries to line up to strike. He was so happy after eating two huge bloodworms, so cute!

    • @peapufferkingdom118

      Yeah it kind of surprises me how cheap it is here. My literally have no interest in frozen brine shrimp and two of my peas refuse anything frozen. They get even cuter with time! : )

    Hi I don't know if you still read the comments but I just got a dwarf puffer and for the past two days I was wondering why it doesn't seem to want to eat the frozen bloodworms? My puffer is accompanied by 3 SAE's aswell but they don't seem to be getting in the way at all...

    You asked for comments about other frozen foods peas are supposed to enjoy - I'm not an owner yet but Cory Aquarium Coop reckons they'll do frozen chopped muscle, and I'm sure he mentioned something about crushed shell-on clam - not the half shell jobbies for big puffers, a crushed up shell-containing frozen clam mush (good for minerals).

    Hi there I recently fell in love with this adorable fish . Although I originally wanted different kinds of community fish I like them enough to only keep one in my community tank . However I was disappointed when I learned that they are not a beginner fish :( . I want one so bad though . I already own two parrots so realistically I can’t afford to spend to much money and time . Is there a way I can save money and time . Buy letting their food sources live and breed in the tank . I was thinking getting snails in their to breed as a food source, using frozen bloodworm cubes, and feeding him earthworms from my backyard(if it is safe ) . Advice is very appreciated I don’t know much .

    What should I do when on vacation?? We leave for two or do weeks frequently during the summer, and what should I feed the peas?? I have no one to feed them while I’m gone! HELP! PLEASE ANSWER!!

      Toby Creates I don’t think peas would last a full week without feeding. I would ask a friend or neighbour to feed them every 2-3 days.

    Amazing Video! I do have a personal query though. Will the Puffers eat snails (more specifically slugs) larger than itself? I have a huge colony of tropical leatherbacks invading my backyard and feeding them to the puffers would be killing two birds with one stone. Any help is appreciated!😁

    • @jessicarose129
      @jessicarose129 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, they'll have a go provided the slug wriggles enough and isn't massive. If it's a full size slug, you might have to... chop it into smaller pieces first *shudder*. Mine will have a go at a snail bigger than them, it's pretty brutal for creatures so cute. :)

    Great video! I'm a fish guy and thinking about getting these for my girlfriend, who LOVES the pea puffers. I want to set her up for success. I'm not sure if 2 in a 10g would result in aggression.. probably depends on their individual temperament.. and then i'm concerned we may get a male and female, where the male will stress her out once they mature. So then I was thinking 1 puffer in a 5g.. but will it then get lonely and without much stimulation while she's at work? I know you can't really put other fish with them.. maybe a large mystery snail?
    With the feeding.. how would you even go about feeding 1 or 2 of them with live foods? The live food will likely expire by the time even half of the stuff is used up. So then I was thinking maybe a 1g tank of just snails to pull from? .. but then I feel bad for the snails. Would the puffers be happy and healthy with frozen food, freeze-dried bloodworms.. and even.. flakes?
    anyone's input is much appreciated.

      Matthew Maneri Hey! 2 peas in a 10 gal would work well if it has a lot of plants. You can definitely set up a small tank for breeding snails. My snails tank doesn’t have a filter or heater. I just do water changes on it and feed them left over veg etc.
      Peas can be fussy eaters so don’t worry if they won’t eat certain things. They won’t eat flakes. I have found tubifex worms to be perfect. If you change the water in their bag daily they will last over month! Bloodworms will have to be bought regularly they don’t last that long. Maybe a week.

      I think more is better - they're a shoaling fish and multiple occupants reduces the chance of a bully targeting a particular individual, as they're busy making sure they're not being challenged as top dog. 3 in a 10 gallon is better.
