Conspiracy 2 is hands down the best draft experience I've ever had. Seriously great set which actually made DRAFTING, not just playing, really fun and interesting. Also: Monarch.
2 months late, but my friends made a commander cube I drafted once. It took forever to draft and had made up cards that function like prismatic piper does to add a color to your color identity. It took a long time to draft and the game also took forever. We were drafting one card at a time and the cards included were all lesser known sort of underplayed cards
I tried to create a Commander cube once. I discorver 2 things: 1) there was a need for 2 commanders instead of one beacause there are limited cards for each color to pick. For the same reason, also uncolored spells were needed. 2) Al the pair mechanics needed to contained commanders with similaries, ej: Aryel, Arvad, danitha and komrad, beacause of their knight type, dirve WB to knights-equipments.
I curate a commander cube. The pros are I can have very powerful cards and kill on sight commanders (like Urza) in an environment where there arent feel bads because everyone had equal access and has similar power level decks. The biggest struggle is insuring the draft doesnt feel on rails. The partner innovation should eliminate that. Im very hype to draft this set, and to slot the best partners into my cube.

It's super janky my and my little brother drafted 4 20 cards draft pack someone made on eBay for a commander draft and it was a struggle to find some kind of synergy and the deck flow was terrible
I've got a Commander Cube and it's by far my preferred way of playing EDH. A couple of pointers: - we play at 30 life to make aggro more viable - 60 cards decks from a 480 card pool - We ignore color identity. I know WOTC can't implement such a rule for this set, but I think the presence of so many partner commanders and the Prismatic Piper is a very classy way of solving the draft issue. - Games are not durdly whatsoever. I run plenty of interaction and most 4+ CC creatures have an ETB. I'm very excited for this set, I think it'll be an absolute home run. 125 USD for 24 packs of 20 seems like a good price to me, and if it holds I'll definitely buy a few boxes. As it stands, I'll probably turn it into a cube even.

Not sure 'only good if you're losing' applies as much to lands. Like you said, there are ways to reduce your land count. But there will also be a green player and they're probably gonna cast a few spells that increase their land count. I think it's a really neat design philosophy for white but it's gonna have to be PUSHED for a while.
I mean you said they cant print it at rhe same price because its more ars and better stuff but it is $.20 pieces of cardboard as far as the expenses go
I'm really hoping they have some sort of Jund Reanimator pairing of Partners. Karador has always been my Abzan boo for Reanimator, but damn do I really want to build a creature-based graveyard deck in Jund colors. Flayer of the Hatebound has always been one of my favorite cards and a Jund Reanimator commander would just bust him.

I normally try to avoid preordering anywhere other than my LGS or too early. That being said, my LGS has been having supply issues. I really want this product at a good price, so I acted like a child and preordered some boxes already. 🤷♂️

I’m sure when we get more spoilers my hype meter will peak. I’m not interested in the draft portion but I could just short of guarantee this set will have loads of singles I want for my commander decks. However I’m very nervous about the partners coming. Since they don’t have partner with, the line is even finer for balance. As of right now I don’t want ANYTHING banned in commander. However, depending what we see from this set, I have a gut feeling Thrassios will be the first card ever that I may actually say “this needs a ban”. I hope I’m wrong as this set has insane potential to be so hype I’m gonna bang my head against the wall out of excitement lol. The partner thing has a permanent “eeek” face on me for now though until we see them all.

The reason they're trying the etching foil is because it's supposed to prevent card curling after being exposed to heat or age

I'm guessing that The Prismatic Piper is going to get the dubious distinction of being the weakest commander option in edh
He's not that weak, but all of his power comes from his choosing color ability and none of it comes from the playable card itself
