Congrats on the dragon. When I cast on top of one and spook it I have had a lot of luck letting my frog sit for 1 or 2 minutes to let the fish reset then a few twitches and they smash it. Works for me almost every time.

We both know there is no way to stop them at this point so DNR backed off. You use to have to call it in if you caught one and kill it.

Lastly: There's a few comments talking about harvesting the snakeheads catch and I myself believed that you had to harvest everyone you caught. However, after doing some research specifically to Maryland, it seems that the state has ruled, that even though snakeheads are an invasive species you do not have to harvest everyone caught. While there are still studies being done about how much the snakeheads damage the local ecosystem, they still pose a sigificant threat to other native fish and are labled an invasive fish. For those willing, we actively encourage the targeting and harvest of every snakehead caught. Snakeheads are an invasive species that can negatively impact native fishes here and across the country. I bet you’ve never caught one before or been on a body of water that has them and seen what is really going on out there. Blue catfish do much more damage than snakeheads do, but nobody wants to talk about that because their name isn’t scary.

Right now you can release in the same water when you catch them.
