- In this video my friend Corey and I met up for some Maryland Snakehead fishing on a river that is known to have some massive fish! We took our kayaks into one of our favorite stretches of this river and tossed some topwater frogs in places that looked good for snakeheads. By the ned of the day, we had both caught fish and one of us found a true Maryland Monster Snakehead! It was a great day of snakehead fishing in Maryland.

IMPORTANT NOTE: While Snakeheads are a non-native species, biologists have discovered over the last few years that the damage they cause to the ecosystem is not nearly what was once expected. Many bodies of water containing these fish have successfully adapted to their presence. I encourage you to thoroughly research the data that is out their regarding snakeheads before you make an uninformed comment saying that we should have killed the fish. That being said, everyone is entitled to their opinion regarding these fish. We simply ask that your opinion be formed on actual data and research, not what you heard from a friend or read on facebook.
The body of water that we fished already has a healthy population of snakeheads. Killing a few fish would do absolutely nothing in regards to eradicating the species from that body of water. Instead, you'd be wasting the life of a perfectly good gamefish. Here at Orange 22 Fishing, we encourage you to practice catch and release on all species of fish, including snakeheads. We will continue to do so, and we hope you will do the same as well.
No matter your opinion on this topic, we do thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel!
Tight lines,
Dave and Matt
Nothing like sight fishing a dragon 🔥
don't let them live they are invasive!
What’s one place you recommend in Maryland for snakehead?
I enjoyed your video. I was surprised you didn’t keep them. I thought there is a bounty on them in Maryland.
There is no bounty. If you catch one that is tagged (very rare), you get a small cash prize. I’ve caught hundreds and have never gotten a tagged one. We prefer to catch and release and see these fish become trophy fish. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video!
Man, what a tank. Really love the excitement in this one! Great job.
Thank you! It was an epic moment for sure!

What part of Maryland are you guys from?
We’re from central Delaware, we just travel to fish Maryland alot
where is this river, I never catch a sneakhead before,😅
I need more vid bro
dragon class snakehead is 30+inches and 10lb+ not either or.
99% of people say it’s either/or
@@Orange22Fishing Agree to disagree. I work with a guy that's part of Legion of anglers and he would say otherwise
@@antsal679 who is it? I’m a member of the legion too
Where in Maryland is this
It's a fishing that I like to do in Korea
I'm leaving a comment because I'm curious about something
I understand that snakehead is designated as a harmful fish in the United States, so you can't catch it and let it go or save it and take it home, is that right??
They are considered invasive, but it is legal to catch and release, so that’s what we do. They’ve been here for over 20 years and they aren’t going anywhere so we love to fish for them
In Maryland it’s against the law to catch and release snakeheads
@@johnleskinen734 that’s not true my man
Where is this
@@Orange22FishingIts honestly confusing cause maryland hunting and fishing says to just kill them but other things say you can catch and release but honestly doesnt matter to me cause then its more for me😂😂😂
crazy content mate , Keep it up
Thank you

Just wish you guys were a little more excited
