      Yep. Lots of complaints that Makita didn't make XGT backwards compatible like Hikoki did, but that always comes with trade-offs. A whole new battery design allowed Makita to make the best battery they could.

      Oh hell yeah, I want the 8 but I think my wallet will settle for the 5ah for my 9" grinder, the 8ah would be nice to have on the blower too so I could just go full ham without having thinking about battery life, but the battery alone will probably be $499 cad or even $549.
      I also want to see Makita come out with a dual 40v lawn mower to compete with Milwaukee's, although a kit with 2x 8ah batteries would cost a damn fortune lol.

    If Makita can make 40v batteries with 20 cells, they can easily make some 18v batteries with 15 cells. Instead of twp internal cells in parallel there would be three.
    Makita should make some 18v batteries with 15 cells, this easily would boost the amp hours up 50%
    3Ah becomes 4.5Ah
    4Ah becomes 6Ah
    5Ah becomes 7.5Ah
    And, almost all the 18v tools would be able to fit the 15 cell batteries, they would be about 18mm taller.
    They would be perfect for high draw tools like lawn mowers, chainsaws, weed wackers, blowers, chop saws, etc....

      @ericmann1781 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had the same thought, that and my 9" grinder and a demo gun for big jobs since the battery heats up much less so longer battery life in the end.
      I don't do big jobs often so the most use would be the blower, 26 minutes is a lot, plenty of charge for hiding around corners and blasting the wife with a tornado of air before ever having to charge lol.

    How do the stealth mounts go with the 8ah battery? Would love to see it after that lump has been hanging off it in the trailer especially after driving around on our shitty NSW roads

    Batteries...well...we started around .3.6v...the 7.2v ...12v...14.4v....18v...20v...24v...36v...40v...56v........with various Amp values......getting heavier and heavier.....
    One day a 240volt battery that weighs as heavy as a car battery you can only just pick the tool up...
    Then someone will have a brilliant idea....put a flex on the tool and plug it in.....Ha.

      That doesn't make sense. I could see why a tool might not be safe to use with the small batteries but only issue connecting a big battery is the bulk getting in the way.

    Driving Bugle-head screws drains my 4Ah pretty quick, about a half day. The 8Ah would be good for adding more time in service (if I can handle the weight for that long). I wonder if Makita would make a battery holster for your tool belt with a bungy-cord extension cable? Would be easier to use

    • @wolfgangselle3272
      @wolfgangselle3272 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think all the original 40V Makita charger are fast charger .. in the beginning Makita was building for the 18V platform one charger what not was a fast charger and it was called SD ( Standard Charger ) and this charger was very slow. But now with the 40V platform it’s “ only “ one charger Typ -- a fast charger --

    • @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
      @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a fast charger. They have 3 so far DC40RA is single fast DC40RB is dual fast and DC40RC is single slow. The slows are pretty rare at the moment and only likely to be found in low end kits like tyre inflators.

    Really glad to hear the 8.0Ah mates nicely with the 270mm circular saw. Have you tried it on the 305mm SCMS? I've also got theVC004GLZ03 vacuum coming, but don't know if the battery bays have limits.
    I've only got 4.0Ah 40V's at the moment and don't see much point in the 5.0Ah batteries over them. Wish there was a decent 2x 8.0Ah + dual fast charger bundle .. the only bundles here in Oz with 8's are the concrete saw and the line trimmer.
    I was about to pre-order the 270mm saw as a kit .. but I've already got 3x single 40V chargers and 5x 4.0Ah batteries and adding 8's and 2's makes more sense.
    I'm guessing the guts of the 8.0Ah 40V Makita are probably very similar to the AP 300 S Stihl battery.
