It's almost like an early 60s Fox body, reminds me of a Fairmont. Same sort of suspension front and rear, unibody, 4 lug, super light weight. Sad these y bodies are sort of orphans.
It’s coming, I ran into a snag with the head needing a guide repaired. Now I just need to find the time to get the block passage drilled, honed, rings gapped and all the parts cleaned up for reassembly. I’m a one man show!
I will polish that car if you want, I'm pretty good at that. Think it will come out really well and just have nice patina. A Rustoleum paint job on the top would be the easiest thing.
Im building a 63 tempest and ended up trashing the whole front suspension and using a mustang II type. The original front weighs a ton. Pontiac had 4 1/2 inch pattern on a 15 inch wheel.
@@mr.roddersneighborhood2740 sorry I wasn't suggesting that you use that, just letting you know what I did. As far as I know, the S.E.G. requires a straight axle on the front.
@@mr.roddersneighborhood2740 are the front suspension parts the same on the Buick as the Pontiac? If they are, I have a complete front suspension rebuild kit I'm going to use.
That Fox 8.8 might go in with very little trouble though... That was the first thing I thought of when I saw them spring perches on those lower control arms.
QUESTION: I'm looking to get a little more horsepower out of my 63 Buick. It's ALL factory stock, the engine's original. Buick 215CI. V8. WHAT Heads can I get that will fit the factory engine ? And thank you, very much. I appreciate your help.
The only head I’m aware of that will bolt on the 215 that can increase power is the TA performance late model rover head. It does not have the extra bolt holes for the bottom row of head bolt holes. I’m not entirely sure of them directly bolting on and working correctly, I’ve never tried it myself. Check with TA performance. Your compression ratio may be unmanageable since these heads have a 27cc combustion chamber.
Thank you for the information. I'll definitely looks into them and keep gathering information. It's too nice of a car to change to much. But I would play around with interchangeables so I could roll back to Factory Original. I need to get a project car so I have more options and can hop it up without worrying about hurting the value of a survivor. I appreciate your time. Ty very much.
I think its going to be cool I'm a little surprised you didn't chose a 68or69 camaro rear but you're right since you need a front load. But 83/4 ate also known for snapping the pinky .
Will the 8 3/4 fly with SEGA? Their online rulebook file sorta reads like they want a gm axle in the gm car, although what's done to it isn't as important. That might not be correct, though.
@@TwinTurboSkylark you would be better served with a higher reared gear, like a 3.23 or 3.42 to load those turbos sooner. A 4.56 is too low for a turbo application and would improve drivability, performance and mileage with a much more turbo friendly rear gear. Of course this all depends upon the tire height, but you would likely need 32" tall or taller rear tires on that 4.56 to get the best out of that combo. The 200-4R is my favorite OD Buick transmissions with that first gear not being super low like the 700-r4.
Hi, yes it runs a 32” tall by 20” wide tire so it needs so gear in there. The turbos are sized so that it gets full boost before the converter flash rpm so the gearing isn’t needed to help load the turbos and spoil them. If I went to larger turbos then a 4.10 gear could help spool them I’m sure. My current delay is having a pro port the alum heads for Max effort. It’s painful having the short block with girdle, billet crank etc sitting here waiting.
I’ve always liked those 62-63 Buicks.
So sweet.
Very cool! I have a 61 Skylark with a 215 and manual steering. First car with a triangulated 4 control arm rear. Innovative stuff.

Very cool Dallas! Can’t wait to see some more progress on it.
Glad to see someone building something different for a change.
Nice work Dallas!
Looking forward to this Dallas. Cheers
Pretty cool Dallas! can't wait to see you lay down some rubber with it!
Be fun to watch the build
Excellent plan for the car.The more original the better.
Very nice to see something different, awesome project, Dallas.
Should be a cool car when done! Will be watching
What a great project, looking forward to more.
thats a cool project it's all about power to weight and a light car with 500hp and 500ftp should scoot ! still waiting on the turbo 350 lol

Which car is the turbocharged 350 going into?
@@TwinTurboSkylark I don’t have a car yet, my first pick and attempt fell through. I’ll find something else or throw it in my Suburban.
Great video and great build idea. Can’t wait to see it progress. Keep shooting footage.
Light little cars.
Nice! The super stock engine build was reason I subscribed in the first place.
Well now were are gonna get the car together!

On mine I did rocker gaurd in replace of the vinyl roof, painted it gloss black and it looks mint.

Love that Buick ❤
Nice seeing something other than the typical "credit card build" !

The South East Gassers Super Stock rRules prohibit a Mustang II Front Suspension. I have to use the original pieces.

Really cool car Dallas!
Luv it Dallas, look forward to running ya someday, check out the truck mileage vids I posted, you'll be surprised
Nice!
I don't think I've ever seen a 63 skylark hardtop without a broken windshield
Yeah... appears to be a factory option... cracked windshield.

It's fine in the rules. It just has to have an era correct reared and it's not brand specific. Just No Billet pieces or Fab 9 housings allowed.
@@mr.roddersneighborhood2740 awesome
Those were very small cars! I’ve owned two! Those small aluminum 215’s were already a tight fit. How do you expect a 350 to ever fit?
The 350 Buick is the exact same family of engine and bolts right in. That’s how it fits. Like it was meant for it!
Cool project! What gear ratios are you thinking?
Not sure yet, but the math supports 5.13's for the 1/8th mile races planned with the Southeast Gassers Super Stock Class
Nice, I run a 4.56 gear, car is 2980 pounds and 2004R trans. Makes boost on the 350 by 3000 rpm, 3800 stall with triple disk lockup.

“Spool” not spoil
Can't you just have a V6 flywheel ballanced for the 350? Didn't the Jeep dauntless 350 come manual??
Do you still have the 63 Buick,Will you be doing any more Buick engine videos ?
Yes, just took a break for some personal life issues.
You thought "Super-Tricks" would be "era-correct"?
Uh... No. I even said in the video, I had them and thought I would try them out because it's what I had.
