I hate getting stuck like that 😩
That’s the main reason I haven’t started building my Buick yet.
I like your attitude towards all the curveballs your being thrown!

I was discussing this yesterday with our local Buick Guys about opening a machine, engine building shop and BUICK centric Dyno shop that has the motor mounts, correct headers and flywheel for the purpose of delivering something for the Buick Fan. If you want to really do this, I’d love to help out and get things going for us! These are always the things to overcome when being a Buick fan.

Are those huge fender wells structural? If you could at least trim them back a few inches that would make a lot more room in there for your pipes and just basic track mechanical work like taking plugs in and out. I'm sure you probably don't want to just cut the wells out entirely to keep things cleaner when you drive it on the street... I'm a hack, I would've cut them out, maybe replaced them with much smaller re-pop plastic liners to save a little weight at least. Other than the packaging I really dig that platform, very prophetic design that screams protoFox Body to me. If I actually had a place to work and the money, I would build a '63 Tempest/LeMans on a wrecked, bodyless, stretched wheelbase C6 GS/427 'vert/Z06/ZR1 drive line, suspension, chassis. That looks like a bone stock survivor from the top with 17-20" PMD replicas to fit the brakes. I think it would be the ultimate expression of everything Delorean would have wanted the car to be if the technology existed. Y bodies rule

Awesome work! Love to see that thing running and tearing down the drag strip. I'm a Mopar man myself but I've always had a soft spot for Buicks really like them maybe one of these days when we're both really fortunate. I might be able to get my barracuda on the drag strip and make a pass. Who knows, maybe we get to race sometime

That’s the plan, the engine is not permanently in it’s home for the last time, a lot of this is just for fitment and fabrication of parts. I’ll get there, just stick around and I’ll get to the cleaning and painting.

How much weight does it add?
Not really fond of MII suspension due to a few things like lack of suspension travel and geometry midigation with heavily decell/excell but it's still a route for this particular car

That was originally the plan back in July when I got the engine done and scheduled the dyno session for December 1st… but since the snafu with the dyno and a change in direction on the rearend that I have not discussed yet, it likely will not be there in 2023. But! I will be in Bowling Green no matter what with my parts booth and a surprise 62 Special that houses Jack the Giant Killer Buick 300 to make some passes for the GS Nationals 2023.

So what are the rules for the race class you're building this for and wouldn't that 350 be disqualified in that car for super stock? Cool channel love the Buick engines.
And I agree with what you said about the sbb 300 in a different video you made that the 300 is the best sbb they made. Not necessarily because of its cid though. If you want to build a great dyno mule sbb 300, use a stroked to 3.990" for nascar 6.200" long and with 1.850" rod journal used take out rods with the block .050" over bored to 3.800". I already told you about the mains if you have a machine shop good enough?
Or you can have the 300 crank stroked to 3.540" for the above rods or longer ones if you can find any to get 321 cubes out of your 300. Hasn't been as many of the Buick friendly longer 6.450" long nascar take outs lately. Seems like they are trending to shorter 6", 6.125" and 6,200" long rods for sale on eBay.

The rules are longer than 4 pages and I’m not gonna post them here. Check out the south east gassers association webpage and look at the super stock rules. Any small
Block Buick can be used according to the rules.

      No worries.
Can't wait to see that 300 running with 350 heads! How's that project coming, are the parts you got for it still in machine shop jail? If not a short video showing them off would be very cool until you have time to bolt them on?(no pressure) I like what you're doing giving the cast away underdog Buick engines some love.
Another thing I really wanted to try with these very cool little Buick engines is get one of those late model v6 3800 front covers that have the crank driven oil pump and do some cutting and welding of an old style one with a distributor top half and cut the 3800 one to use the bottom half to make a crank driven oil pump sbb front cover! Or if someone is converting to distributor less ignition they can just bolt that cover on and done.
I broke my back(not paralyzed just not heeled good enough to work in the garage yet) about a year and a half ago and haven't been able to play with my engines. It is awesome to find another sbb visionary on yt like me that is doing the stuff I wanted too, keep the content coming and thanks for sharing. If you want any more crazy ideas let me know I'll share the info I have.

@@itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852 like all my projects, they move slow because they are not bolt on a go pieces. The thing that would help me out the most is an aluminum welder. I unfortunately don’t have that skill yet. The What If 300 is my favorite project and the dyno mule 300 was supposed to go to the same dyno and get tested as the Super Stock 350. So that project is at a stand still as well. It’s just hard to find someone to work with that meets the goals and expectations that I have, letting me down seems to be the norm.

Because it came with a 215 which is the same family of engine. Besides the 455 is heavier and longer. The class I’m shooting for is weight to cubic inch, so this car would have to weigh close to a billion pounds with a 455.
