Finally i have seen people to fly as it has to be! a great air show and good formation flight. Wonderful video and editing. Pity for the Spit, my impression is that she went into a spin and/or wing stall while turning. Motor was working till the end. A highlight of the video is also the Ape rescue car with the US ARMY insignia and US flag! Driver of the support car says aloud "Squadra recuperi" (=rescue team) and at the same moment as guardian gate you can see a fuel tank of a F-104 There is no music as soundtrack and that's another thumb up! Wonderful landscapes too... I am not tired to see this video again and again!!! It was undoubtly a great day for people there

Great video Horst! I'm surprised they didn't have a couple mid-air collisions. That was some impressive and aggressive flying! I hope they didn't blame the Gopro's for the crash!

Phew - that was intense! Outstanding display. But .... Oh the pain - the Spit came to grief - more than sad. Great video Horst and some excellent editing.
It would be incredible if they do this thing again, but use VR (or something like that) to fly these things. Have a monitor for everyone else to see what the pilots are seeing. That would be some intense racing.
Sad for the Spitfire but it went out in the best of final flights. Bravo you guy`s know how to have fun that`s for sure,great camera work Horst,the best on TH-cam.
That was an awesome display of great and intense flying! You had me on the edge of my seat, however too bad for the Spit but I guess it's all part of the hobby--salvage what you can, rebuild/replace and move on! I know the feeling!
Amazing video, like always, I agree with (PUNISHERMARK() the spitfire looks like he stalled and no altitude to correct stall, because I experienced the same problem before, probably the elevator servo lost the arm connection. Thanks again for share it.

Spitfire went vertical, throttled back, lost airspeed and right wing stalled, resulting in right spin. You can see the horizontal stab buffeting in the turbulence

this is actually a design flaw in the spitfire airframe itself. even the fullscale ones would tipstall into a flat spin if stalling in a straight up climb. it was a tactic of BF-109 pilots to actually get pilots of spitfires to do this in the Battle of Britain.
Wow what talented pilots! The flight choreography was fantastic! Did the Spitfire run out of gas? Looks like it dropped behind the tree line and pilot could not see which way to go. "She fell in battle"! Thanks for sharing that awesome video.

I don't really understand the comments about the pilot flying the wrong model - the pilot appears to be following the model down to the ground...unless there was a second or two of confusion leading to the stall off the top of the climb? The rear-facing onboard camera shows full up elevator much of the way down suggesting that the pilot held it in a stalled condition all the way to the impact. Another confusing thing, there were 5 aircraft flying in the final break, 5 pilots shown and one raises his hand and appears to have finished flying - during the time that the Spitfire pilot was crashing...did he just casually take his eyes off his model for a brief time or was he co-piloting via a wireless buddy connection perhaps?
+azframer To me, from the angle of his head and his body movement it looked like the pilot followed the Spit's flight path all the way to the crash. Where his eyes were actually looking could be a different matter of course! However, at the moment of impact he certainly turned away immediately. The control movements certainly support a stall off the turn at the top of the break with progressive pulling back on the elevator as the dive progressed. A horrible result for him, whatever the cause - it looked a very nice model and well displayed.
+Martin Harris I'm totally with you. In my eyes after the spitfire went vertical he pulled her too hard on the elevator and it tipstalled. He corrected it but maybe he didn't release the elevator? He almost got it but left the elevator in so it tipstalled again? He was totally in sight with the airplane till the very end. ;(

Dass die Propellerspitze im Bild ist, war absichtlich so gewählt. Stört aber auch eigentlich überhaupt nicht. Dass die Befestigung der Kamera für die Aufnahmen nach hinten lose war, fällt auch kaum auf. Das Gewinde war überdreht :) _LG, Horst_

+Chad Cole _It happend after the final split, at the end of formation and they where ready to go back to the airbase._ During the high speed formation flight they're more concentrated because of flying so close together. It only needs a fraction of time and you easiely can lost your plane while controlling the wrong one ... until your own plane hits the ground.

One of those RC airplanes is a F4U Corsair really successful aircraft but sadly there is only three left in the world two of them are in museums the third one has been stolen
Wait nvm I mistakes that aircraft for the other one it is an F4U Corsair sorry my grandpa flown on before and got mixed up of the hellcat and the F4U Corsair 102 years old and still alive
+djRC Unfortunately the music was sooo loud that I had to spend hours to edit the audio file by mixing it from the other flights. I hate music on air shows. People want to hear the screaming engines and not a dumb music.
Imagine attaching an airsoft gun to the wings of these have the camera in the cockpit with the sights and having not very sensitive controls and fighting with them.. Now THAT would be cool!

This was not a FPV flight. The GoPro's were mounted on the wings and serve only for for recording.

I don't really understand the comments about the pilot flying the wrong model - the pilot appears to be following the model down to the ground...unless there was a second or two of confusion leading to the stall off the top of the climb?
The rear-facing onboard camera shows full up elevator much of the way down suggesting that the pilot held it in a stalled condition all the way to the impact.
Another confusing thing, there were 5 aircraft flying in the final break, 5 pilots shown and one raises his hand and appears to have finished flying - during the time that the Spitfire pilot was crashing...did he just casually take his eyes off his model for a brief time or was he co-piloting via a wireless buddy connection perhaps?

To me, from the angle of his head and his body movement it looked like the pilot followed the Spit's flight path all the way to the crash. Where his eyes were actually looking could be a different matter of course! However, at the moment of impact he certainly turned away immediately.
The control movements certainly support a stall off the turn at the top of the break with progressive pulling back on the elevator as the dive progressed.
A horrible result for him, whatever the cause - it looked a very nice model and well displayed.
+Martin Harris I'm totally with you. In my eyes after the spitfire went vertical he pulled her too hard on the elevator and it tipstalled. He corrected it but maybe he didn't release the elevator? He almost got it but left the elevator in so it tipstalled again? He was totally in sight with the airplane till the very end. ;(

Wieder ein supergeiles Video Horst, die arme Spitfire tut mir leid.. die Bilder von ihr waren einfach klasse... weiß man schon woran es gelegen hat?.. sah etwas nach nach Ausfall der Elektronik irgendwie aus, denn der Motor lief nach wie vor noch

Die Ursache konnte leider nicht ermittelt werden. Meine Vermutung ist, dass der Pilot sein Modell kurz aus den Augen verlor und als er es wieder im Fokus hatte, der Flieger einen Strömungsabriss hatte und dadurch nicht mehr steuerbar war. Schade !!!

Spit crash = SH!T HAPPEN :(
Für die onboard Aufnahmen habe ich zwei GoPro 3 mit 50fps verwendet. Dass die Propellerspitze im Bild ist, war absichtlich so gewählt. Stört aber auch eigentlich überhaupt nicht. Dass die Befestigung der Kamera für die Aufnahmen nach hinten lose war, fällt auch kaum auf. Das Gewinde war überdreht :)

+Chad Cole _It happend after the final split, at the end of formation and they where ready to go back to the airbase._ During the high speed formation flight they're more concentrated because of flying so close together.
It only needs a fraction of time and you easiely can lost your plane while controlling the wrong one ... until your own plane hits the ground.

One of those RC airplanes is a F4U Corsair really successful aircraft but sadly there is only three left in the world two of them are in museums the third one has been stolen

Unfortunately the music was sooo loud that I had to spend hours to edit the audio file by mixing it from the other flights.
I hate music on air shows. People want to hear the screaming engines and not a dumb music.
