As a lifelong tomboy, Amber is my biggest role model. I can't really express how important it is to me to see someone like her doing so well in the industry! I tried so hard to be more feminine but it felt so uncomfortable and fake, and I was feeling really down on myself - I thought I could never be "desirable" as a tomboy. Then I realized that if so many people out there love and admire Amber, and find her beautiful even though she's so different, and if she's comfortable just being herself, then I have no reason to stop trying to be something I'm not. Honestly, it's her example that helped me feel better about myself and I'm so thankful for that! I've embraced my boyishness and I refuse to change to fit society's standards. I love you Amber!!!
She seems pretty amazing to be honest. I can relate since I consider myself gender queer meaning identify myself as male and female. And honestly, it's hard for me to express myself because my family is Korean and set their values in stone. I have amazing friends to support so I think I'm gonna be okay. I choose to express myself even if others judge me. Haha

Same here, I feel so uncomfortable in anything traditionally feminine, it's great to know people feel the same. I like my badass, tomboy self.
I've always been a tomboy too, well, I don't mind dressing girly at all, but most of the time I prefer boyish style. I'm not mistaken for a boy, because I keep my hair long, but people always think I'm lesbian because of the way I dress and I think that's really annoying. And sometimes I wonder if it's really my fault, or if it's people who have the misconcept that women should dress girly if they like men, so men can like them back. I mean, that's stupid, since when our sexual orientation is based on what we wear? Anyways, I'm really happy that Amber stood for what she likes instead of changing because of mean comments, it's really an inspiration
I don't look like a tomboy, but appearances are deceiving. I act like one, through and through. power to the unique snowflakes across the globe.
Amber is just so insanely likable and down to earth.. I have a total girl crush.

Even though Amber is always chilled, no matter what interview she is on. This was even more comfortable because she's speaking English and speaking to other English speakers.

Amber is surprisingly very articulate (in english), very different from other foreign born kpop stars I've seen.

I know, that's why I said "foreign born" kpop stars. Lots of English speaking kpop aren't very good at public speaking when it's not in Korean. Even when english is their first language.

I think most foreign born kpop stars who grew up speaking English are all pretty articulate in English. I don't know of any who aren't.

OMG I just LOVE & ADORE Amber as much as do you Martina she is who she is if you don't like it that's okay but she isn't going to change who she is for anyone but herself. A VERY good excellant role model for young girls or adults such as my self with self esteem so low its almost non existant. She's just a beautiful person and I don't mean looks wise although she looks beautiful as well I mean she's a beautiful person on the inside. I love when you guise have her on your channel. And she is sooooo ROCKIN that hair cut too :) I never have been and never will be brave enough to have my hair that short the shortest I've gone is to my chin longest is to my waist just had it cut to about an inch below my shoulders with both peek a boo magenta and my bangs done magenta well if u can call them bangs they're same length as my hair but that's as brave as it goes for me with my hair LOL :)
Actually,to me amber is really pretty on the outside she's a gorgeous lady and she's beautiful on the inside as well she has a really charming and bubbly personality

Yay Amber! I really appreciate the time over Christmas when I got to chat with her (at you guises' apartment!) about her new album and being in Kpop and she was just so lovely and genuine, and so passionate about her music and her message and it just struck me at the time about how Kpop really needs more genuine people like her.
(And one of her managers is Han's friend we realised. Such a small world).

When I first watched an f(x) video I was like; ''Oh.. this is.. nice'' but nothing unusual, and then Amber comes up and I'm like; ''Holy crap who is that? And why is she so gorgeous?'' like.. I don't know, but she has this... unexplainable beauty that I can't really put in words, so yeah, I was hooked immediately. Every time someone asks me who my girl crush is I always answer 'Amber', not that most people I know knows about kpop, because hey, Amber, you're fine as hell and I would seriously love to meet her some day because she seems like a totally awesome person to talk to as well.
I love that amber always comes across as warm. I think their are a lot of women in the Kpop industry (and U.S. music truth be told) that try to have that bad girl image or a cold and sexy image and they those that warm. You can't relate with them and they don't come across as friendly but you can image being friends with Amber. She's so cool and down to earth! How could you not like Amber. I like her down to earth attitude and she has a unique individuality that people get internationality. She's not afraid to be corny, funny, and joke around. She has that charisma!
Being a tomboy myself, Amber is really inspirational. I just bought a poster of her on Tuesday and hanged it up right away when I got home. I don't even fangirl over korean boys as much as I Fangirl over Amber. She's such an inspiration to me and reminds me that I just need to be myself. Ignore all the people that judge you. When I saw SM post her 'Beautiful' lyric video, I already knew by the title that this was her personal feelings. Seeing her and Martina discuss about the song made me really happy because people can finally understand what Amber had kept in since debut. #llamafighting
Oh, my heart. I'm watching these older videos because I love Amber and her androgynous goodness, which hits even more in the feels when she talks about her album.

I can't believe how REAL Amber is. She's like the type of person I could definitely sit down and have an honest conversation with. The chill environment of eyk helps so much! And I'm so greatful for this interview.

It's both. Amber had to take Korean lessons when she arrived in Korea because she isn't Korean so she didn't speak the language! Fun fact: she actually found our videos so that she could translate her Korean washing machine! :D

That depends on your definition of time. And since time js relative, it can be anywhere between a minute and infinity.

BB Child Honestly I'm glad they stopped their KPMM. There's only so much you can say about a song and honestly their skits have been getting lame and people have been trashing them for criticizing their biases because kpop is serious business and fans cannot tolerate any criticism or jokes made at the expense of others. It was a huge popularity poll as well and most of the songs that they did their KPMM were terrible!

I love Amber! I love Amber! Nothing can describe how much I adore this woman. We need more kpop idols like her. Not exactly like her, but idols that actually stand up for something. We need idols that actually motivate their fans anyway they can by giving them beautiful messages in music, social media, and even in acting. When I first heard Beautiful I was speechless, and was tearing up. I'm glad that she is honest with her fans, and towards herself. I want Amber to be a regular at EYK. Lol!

"I think there's beauty in variety" I freaking love you Amber. If only everyone understood that it would've been a happier world but sadly that ain't the case. Amber understands me so well, it's so hard for me to be 100% girly like I just can't. I've tried several times but I'm awful and too lazy for long hair, I dislike skirts (though I own one but never wear it) and dresses are ok but they must be my style and I hardly wear them as well (I only own two, lol) I'm all about mens clothing, jeans, kicks and booties. I love espadrilles too. I don't wear makeup and handbags are not exactly a fave either. It's so hard to go full girly especially in a country where being femenine is quite the normality. It's like every chick comes out of a cookie cutter here. THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!!

I love these interviews! I think your interviewing style is quite different from the televised versions but you get to see more of whole these stars are rather than just a robotic generic answering of questions. Also Amber's song "Beautiful" is AMAZING!!! Such a good message and the ballad allows you to really hear how good her voice is. I've been really busy so thank you Simon and Martina for all the k-news + funny videos.
