Yes, and a nice house for 125k. I had a VR6 in 1997, when a pint of beer was 2 quid, and a tank of fuel was 35 quid. Times change, and everything increases in price.
@@simonmellor4028 Nope not everything increases in prices you are wrong.. al lot electrical goods are cheaper..washing machines, TVs, microwaves ( I can list 100s!) cameras,printeres/printing, virtually anything computer related, international phone calls, paying money around the world, lighting, solar panels, I can go on and on on on for 1000s of items that are cheaper now than 30 years ago.. so don't say things like 'everything' increases in price when clearly it doesnt!
Loved the car and the Monte Carlo trim level, but, I might be a bit old fashioned in preferring chrome trim around the grille and window surrounds, rather than black. My first car, the first Fiesta model, had black window surrounds and bumpers for the basic model. The next trim level up was the L with chrome! Love the review Tish!
Just wanted to say they’ve made some changes for 2024, so the screen you showed when talking about the SE comfort was the old 6.5 inch display. Now all come with a minimum 8.5 inch display which is an update on the 8 inch you used to get in colour edition. The SE comfort now comes with a 8 inch digital drivers display as well so it’s really good value since those changes.
It's a fantastic car, and the same size as the Golf was 20 years ago. I have had my SEL DSG since the beginning of the year and love it. Like the 80s decor inside.
Now the Ford Fiesta is no more, the Skoda Fabia is one of the most rounded and capable small cars around. Such is the quietness and smoothness on the motorway, it feels like a larger car...... the 110 bhp engine is plenty for most people.
Great review Tish, I love the Skoda Fabia as it offers a big boot and a modest exterior design. The interior design looks a bit old-fashioned to me, especially the infotainment system. I hope the Fabia will be awarded the title of 'Hatchback of the Year'. Also the Fabia sounds like the perfect 1st car. Thanks again for the excellent review (i am currently working on my review 😀)
I had one of the previous generation Fabias in SEL trim some time ago. It was a great car and never let me down over the 4+ years of ownership. My car was a 1.2 4 pot turbo and it was fine once spun up. I like the current version but I have not driven one. I only sold mine due to a back injury over 5 years ago but the current model would be on my test drive list probably with the 1.5 engine in this spec, I've been spoilt by the auto in my current car. A great overview Tish as always and thanks for sharing.

I have a soft spot for the Fabia; I had the MkI vRS SE in Race Blue; a great little car. Quick enough, but frugal with loads of torque. I think Skoda have made an error in not having a vRS version......
The Fabia is starting to look like a Polo. Maybe thats intentional. I always liked the square tail lights of the outgoing model as i thought it made it chunky and sporty looking. That shade of blue looks fab on it. ( no pun intended) lol
I’m completely with you. In the same way that I now think the Golf just looks like a Polo. They’re all so similar. It’s great isn’t it and when I checked… the FREE colour
Thanks for another super review. I'm glad you mentioned that you can fit three people in the back. It's so weird to have reviewers review much larger cars like a Rav 4 and call it 'strictly a 2 seater in the back' - are they transporting basketball teams?! In Australia, the only downside is the price with the Fabia Monte Carlo only a couple of clicks below the Polo GTI or Kamiq Monte Carlo but it is a lovely car.
I remember being younger and sitting in the back on my dad’s Audi A4 convertible 2 seater with my sister and brother 😂 I don’t know how often people NEED to cart around 3 adults in the back? 😅
Thank you! I kind of love doing these reviews. Not sure how much growth will change the channel over time… wouldn’t say no to the odd Porsche for two 😂
Hi. I really enjoyed this review 🙂. I'm considering the 1.5 Monte Carlo for my next car (replacing my excellent Clio MK5 RS Line). I was just wondering if the 1.5 comes with a manual gearbox too? 🤔. I don't want any part of automatic or semi automatic 😆.
A bit of a clash in the sound there Tish at 12mins 10 seconds in. That's a lovely blue and I must it does look like a great car. Also the Renault Clio has a full proper sized clovebox.
Oh really?? Is it as a truck or something goes past? Thanks for letting me know. I’m not a massive fan of editing and have usually not got the strength to watch it all the way through 😂
Hello Tish. No its yourself. You are talking about the interior and then your outside talking about how it's hard to find fault with the Skods Fabia. You clashed with your talking on the video.
They would probably go for a much smaller engine unfortunately as they are now putting 1.4 TSI hybrid in an Octavia vRS, I could see a vRS Fabia getting a lower power version of that or even a 1.0TSI 💀
@gillywash1487 Polo gti is a 2litre, as is/was audi a1 competition. So a limited run of a vrs 2.0 litre would be 👍 plus the fabia looks better than a polo.
Good to see a Hatchback car and not a jelly mould suv or cross over, whatever that is such silly nonsense these days, sounds very quiet as well, thanks.
Bought a new 2019 Fabia Colour edition (the previous gen) with a great 1.2ltr triple engine... At the time paid £10500... Brand new! The previous gen is not so different than the latest... Mostly internal improvements. Look at Skoda prices now... The Comfort entry level is £18k... Wow! Good cars but Skoda are pricing themselves out of the entry level market. Plus I reckon a complete revamp of the model must be just around the corner. At these prices, I personally would wait.
Decent motors and with this engine nips along nicely just for me i dont fancy a DSG and i really think the deletion of sn estate option is a mistake but for the money cars like the i20N nearly new are around.
Interesting review, but I disagree with some aspects. In the maximum configuration (in standard configurator!) with 18 inch wheels and sports rubber, 150 hp engine, with sports suspension this car will be quite sporty and sharp, the maximum speed of 240 km per hour was quietly achieved on the autobahn. As for the double floor in the boot, a center armrest and rear charging - this options could be added in the configurator for relatively small price (even in "old" 2022-23 year models). The maximum price of the maximum configuration will reach about 35k today and it will be much cheaper than a similar configuration for the VW Golf. Verdict - a perfectly balanced model for reasonable money.
Fuel economy is fantastic. The Mk 4 Comfort 95 bhp 3 cylinder, this shape. Max 61 mpg on motorways and usually 54 mpg on shorter journeys - if you drive it carefully, of course. Similar to the Mk 3 Fabia. Although, I miss the big cat engine growl of the old model. Also, the newer shape has a timing chain as opposed to s timing belt with the Mk 3 Tsi engine. As a package it has to be unbeatable in its class.
The Fabia is the only new supermini I'd consider. I think it looks great, though I prefer the SEL. Bits of coloured plastic and fake carbon look naff to me, in any car.
Fabia is cute 😍... suitable for a girl - who has mostly city car journeys. Therefore, an automatic gearbox is preferable ... especially in a big city ... with its busy roads ...
Hold my hands up to the gearbox, I know it’s 7 speed, so that was simply a slip of the tongue, which happens when you have so much to speak about. Apologies I was working off the specs online: The Monte Carlo gets 17" Procyon black painted diamond cut alloy wheels. I was not informed this car had any upgrades so didn’t put two and two together
I don't know why so many car manufacturers are no longer producing small vehicles when there are more single people than ever? Does a single person really need or want a chunky SUV? How about bringing back small cars like i10 but that actually have some masculine design qualities instead of always looking like girly cars.
@@noelcahill6707 that’s interesting, sounds like that needs further investigation as to what is happening. Even when I worked at Volkswagen I never heard of anyone having DSG issues. (Not saying it doesn’t happen)
