Its sad that the EDF games basically became the only surviving games to emulate Lost Planet's appeal, while being janky and inferior in many important ways. Great video man. Keep it up.
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 I didn't realize until watching it again that you looked at the multiplayer. The multiplayer is also a masterpiece. I made a couple of videos on it which are terrible since theres no commentary and some music added and i wasn't very good in the first couple of vids.
I love this damn series. Able to drop weapons, grenades, & Power Armor for team while customizing perks, character parts, & weapon types. Damage & Crit Boost are vital for higher difficulties while regen grenades & the Plasma Rifle have so damn much utility.
I remember playing this game so much with my mate on ps3. Sadly, local coop was lacking and I'd always disconnect when playing PVP. This is a game we finished so much, just wish I could have experienced an online session
Bro the things i've seen in this game. Some of the best multiplayer maps i have ever seen. Island 902, trial point, dilapidation, battlegrounds, ice drop, and space one. not to mention the tatics. like spam crouching to avoid machine gun stagger, jump shoot and jump reload on rocket launcher, rolling shotgun kills, shoting disk grenades mid flight. not to mention stuff like game modes like fugitive. the MP for this LP1/colonies and LP2 where so lit.
I had so much fun w the multiplayer back in the day. I wish they made a bots multiplayer mode so I can relive it. I was lucky enough to have a friend to just look at the maps
One of my favorite games of all time, me and my buddies return to it at least once a year. It's kind of hard to explain the appeal of the game, it's kind of janky but it's a good jank, the game itself also does ooze with personality. All the character customization and weapons is a blast especially with cutscenes. It's sad what happened to the franchise by the third installment like you said becoming a generic American action game. It would be interesting to see where the game would be today if it kept its Japanese roots and was popular? Really glad I got to experience this game and it's heyday, also happy I have a core of friends that I can relive the game with as well. Also the Box addiction is real!
So glad someone else loves this game as much as I do. I S tanked everything back on 360 and got all the items. PVP was SUPER fun like you said. It was so fun to obliterate players on a ledge above you by throwing a nade and shooting it. And the weapons that got SUPER powered by throwing thermal energy at them. aw man I really hope they post it back on steam and get the servers online. :C
Great video man, got big nostalgia for this game. LP2 has yet to be topped for me on being the best co-op TPS, real shame that Capcom just saw fit to never go back after LP3
I recently replayed LP2. My wife played coop with me and it was so good, the game aged surprisingly well. It's a shame quite a few bosses are insanely unbalanced for 2 people, since you don't get two npc companions to make squad cap. We need a real Lost Planet 3.
So, awesome news that I am sure someone mentioned already: Its on the PS Plus catalogue, with functioning multiplayer. This game is awesome, and it deserves more attention
This is one of my favorite games of all time. I would absolutely love for them to make another one like LP2. With todays engines and graphics! I would die happy. I would even love for them to overhaul LP2. I wouldn't care if they left the gameplay and how it all works the same. Completely underrated game. Thank you very much for covering it and showing gameplay. Also thankyou for all the Armored Core love as well.
i remember reading about LP2 in a magazine, thinking 'i don't do online junk'. i thought it was cool- but never tried it. a few years ago, i got an Xbox one (for Killer Instinct & Elite Dangerous), and noticed Lost Planet in the store, so i bought it on a whim. i remember playing the demo years ago, but for some reason completely forgot MECHS!! i ended up loving it so much that i wanted more. i did a little research and discovered LP2 was actually beatable solo- so i bought it. holy cow i wish i would've played it new! a couple missions (TRAIN) can be a pain if the a.i. decides not to cooperate- but man- what an addictive RE4 + Monster Hunter buried gold nugget of a game! here's hoping Exo-Primal ends up as fun as this.
Easily my favorite game of all time. The music, the bosses, the gunplay, the VSs, the glorious Akrid designs, the teamwork required, etc. This game has a level of passion and detail that you don't see too much of these days. The amount of memories that I have made with this game eclipses all the other games that I have played combined. Even if I'm hopelessly praying for something that will never come. I hope one day for LP4.
Found this channel while looking for AC videos, Souls fan hooked on the FromSoft hype lol. LP2 is such a gem! The mainstream reviews were so frustrating. Some reviewer complained about unavoidable boss attacks doing massive damage, completely ignorant of dodge timing/i-frames. Same with someone complaining about dying from water while other times being fine, taking zero notice of the mini map indicating death zones. I don't like overusing the term "git gud", but LP2 was a case of journalists having no right to criticize a game they completely missunderstood. I don't think it had to do with culture clash since me and my friends (westerners) were quick to grasp the mechanics. I remember a couple of years ago seeing rumors about Broken Horizon, the soul successor to Lost Planet. Shame the rumored project supposedly got cancelled. It would be cool if AC6 is so successful that Capcom decides to resurrect Lost Planet. Far fetched, but I can hope! Wish they'd just sell the IP to another publisher (and preferably developed by a Japanese studio again).
Ya positioning has alot to do with it too. I feel like the days of game journalists tanking the sales of games is over (I hope). Every person I know has no love for game journalists
honestly amazing goofy fun game that gets better as you sink into it, was impressed by the PS3 demo and bought it at Blockbuster for like $20. Must've played hundreds of hours with friends and alone, and still didn't fully level up more than 1 or two characters. The gunplay, sweet cutscenes, mechs & bosses altogether make a one of a kind game
Lost Planet 2 was one of my favorite 360 games growing up. I loved all of the interesting scenery, all of the anime-like action scenes, and how the comradery attitude and vibes of the characters in the game coexist with how playing with friends felt as well. It's actually depressing to see how many low ratings the game got, even though most people are have said to enjoyed the game. IMO it was a banger.
this game will always have a special spot in my heart, it basically defined me as a player and because i didnt watch much youtube back in the day, it kept amazing me as i discovered stuff like how the support weapons could turn into a supernova, or the secret VS merges, or how to get some bugged GJs for the campaign. I just couldnt get enough of it every day when i was in high school and the meta was super fun and unique, like even to this day you dont see many shooters with i-frames but back then you could crouch, fire a plasma rifle or a rocket launcher at your own feet and still survive it by rolling in time. Then Lost Planet 3 came out and it was just the biggest disappointment i had experienced in gaming until Halo 5 haha
I have LP2 on Xbox, if anyone wants to play co-op, you can find me in quick match. Moving over to next gen made me lose all my stuff during my 360 days. 😅
