Good info here Tatro. I think you mentioned in another video that Ultima intakes are on back order. The S&S manifold is a port opening of 1.780” and Ultima uses a 1.800” opening. I ran into the same fitment issue, where the intake was too long after milling the deck height on my heads. A small sanding stone can help fine tune the fitment, just count the strokes taken from each side and go slow. All info you probably already know, just thought I’d share for others

Because of the play in the heads, are you going to install the intake with both heads loose? I had to do that with an evo build that ran Edelbrock performer heads. In the instructions, Edelbrock tells you to do this.
that is why i like to have the intake manifold here when i put the heads on. i use it to align the heads and get as good of a fit as i can get with the intake. tatro
What do you think of the Ultima engines over all? I'm on the fence at the moment. I can get a 113 El Bruto, an Ultima open primary, a new starter and a 6 speed Ultima transmission for 6700 or I can spend 6300 on a v111 S&S and then wait and piece everything along the way. Use a BDL and maybe a Jims 6 speed in about 6 months. Is the Ultima components worth it or just go with the S&S and save up for the other parts? I'm going to have the money this weekend and make a decision. Building a 90 Heritage.
so you want me to tell you what to buy from someone else when i sell the same crap, nice going on that one. all i can say is, how many new s&s motors have i videoed this summer. tatro
@@TatroMachine I didn’t know you were a dealer, no offense. I thought you guys were a machine shop that specialized in modifications or rebuilding. Not selling new engines.
I believe this is, basically, the scenario most people run into when looking to replace stock engine with a ultima or S&S. I would have said s&s everyti.e several years ago. These days, not the same story. I'd kinda prefer a s&s engine, primarily because I like the castings better. Compete motor looks better, more like one, than ultima. The thi g with s&s these days, if I had a complete engine from them, I'd have the entire engine pulled down and all components measured. I've heard about and seen to many horror stories about them being junk right out of the box. Not the company it use to be. If I had a new ultima, I would be comfortable bolting it right in my frame.
@@whatyoumakeofit6635 I’m rebuilding a 90 Heritage from the frame up. That tired old motor is lacking, plus it’s been ran hard before I got it. I’ll have about 7k this weekend. So I’m looking for the folks with experience with them. Seems there is strong opinions about both, some folks have an Ultima for years, no problems, some folks hate them. Then I see some folks get a S&S and if they have a problem that getting warranty work done is a pain. I’m just wanting to do this job once. I didn’t think these guys here on YT sold new engines or just rebuilt them. Seems I stepped on some toes. That’s ok though, I’ll figure it out.
I love how you throw parts around and set your customers engine on your metal bench. Respect customers parts instead of acting aloof and careless because you think it’s cool. It’s not. Ultima engines and me have been good for each other. Their transmission tho. Night and day difference between those and Jim’s or Baker or even harley.

Yes, I ordered mine with a spigot manifold and it was perfectly mated with the runners
the 113ci and 124ci cylinders are 0.100" taller tan the 100CI cylinders
that might be, but a s&s 124" intake manifold fits. all others are to short by about .100.
