This truck probably cannot really tow 12900 pounds because the only way this can tow 12900 lbs is if the total weight of the truck (including passengers) is less than GCWR - Conventional TWR = 19000 - 12900 = 6100 lbs. Since the curb weight (truck empty weight with only mandatory accessories) is 5682 lbs, the non-essential accessories (power seats, etc.) + weight of passengers must not exceed 6100 lbs - 5682 lbs (curb weight) 418 pounds. This may not be achievable. Sort of a tricky game the car companies play.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION DRIVING A 2022 GMC SIERRA DURAMAX WAS TOTALLY SUPRISING. IT'S QUICK AND SMOOTH. WOW IS ALL I COULD SAY! PLUS DOES BETTER ON MPG THAN ALL FUEL TRUCKS OUT THERE...I TAKE THE GMC SIERRA DURAMAX OVER ANY TRUCK OUT THERE. I LOVE DRIVING THIS TRUCK!
I have the 2022 SLT w the 3.0 and max trailer. Love it. I like the way it drives better than the x31 suspension I had in my 2019 Sierra. Feels more stable. The x31 seemed bouncy.

Ben, can you get the Sierra with 2 speed transfer case, w/ 4LO and max trailer package ? Single speed transfer case is a no go for our family. 4x4 without 4LO is odd.
Huge computer information center, digital dash flip rearview mirror instead of auto dimming 🤔. Max tow package no tow mirrors.. a couple misses for sure for a $66k BUT still nice looking truck.
I just bought a similar 3.0 Silverado RST with the standard box without max tow to pull a 4,600lb travel trailer. I really like this for pulling that. However I really need to watch my loading because of the 1600lb max payload. By the time I put 700lbs on the tongue and 600lbs of humans in the cab, it leaves little room for anything in the bed (plus aftermarket tonneau and assist steps)...
It's made up of an upgraded 9.75" rear axle, heavier leafsprings for increased payload, 3.73 axle ratio instead of the standard 3.23 ratio, and a thicker sway bar. Get the tow mirrors. The camera views are great for towing.
I have a 2022 refreshed High Country crew, 6.5 box, moonroof, diesel, and max tow. On top of this truck, mine has the dual outlet exhaust, 4wd low, front vented seats, rear heated seats, and a higher quality leather on the seats. I don't however have adaptive cruise or the onstar plan, but mine also stickered for over $3k less than this truck at just under $65k. GM must be charging a GMC tax.
Does it have the “auto hold” where when you come to a complete stop you can take your foot off the brake and the vehicle remains stopped until you actually press the gas pedal?

Hey Ben this truck is soo nice and I love all the specs of it. Just a question, what package do i need to have a folding power tow side mirror? I saw it on some sierra but most common is the little ones.
TWO QUESTIONS 1. Are you able to configure the max trailer package with the AT4? 2. With the 2023 update what will the new numbers be for towing on this exact set up?
It not really the off road suspension then the max tow on both the 6.2 and 3.0 diesel has a larger axle and diffrent springs in the rear. Also you can not get the two speed transfer case with max towing package. There is a diesel off road package with 3.73 gears that you can get the large axle and two speed transfer case with but no more towing. I ended up with ltz z71 due that.. not that i tow... but I drive 120 miles back and forth to work daily so the 3.73 gears should (idk for sure) drop the mpg fast like on the Ram eco diesels. Aka the wifes jeep with 3.73 and eco diesel. At 22 mpg. I got as good as 31 mpg tank and lowest of 27 mpg.
I don't get it, the payload on my RST max trailering package is 2,106 lbs. With the 6.2. Does the new interior, sunroof and leather add almost 700 lbs of weight to the truck? 1700 lbs. of payload is pretty standard these days. So why the difference? Do they not include the bigger 9.76" rear axle now?
Sierras are heavier and options add weight. They only increased GVWR to 7300 with the max trailering package vs 7200 without. I have a '22 3.0 max trailering 6.5 bed and my payload is 1569. Curb weight is 5731.
and a 5.5 box useless, im 6' I cant sleep in the back or put my bikes in the box and close the tailgate, not every one wants. crew cab , id take a single cab with a 6.5 box 4x4 ,ford still builds one
@@youtubecarspottersguide1 I think the rise of short boxes is from people who want to drive a truck but don’t really need a truck bed. Seems to be very few standard length box trucks on lots.
@@brandonmorgan1696 that’s a fair point but still a few inches shorter than the 2500 with the standard beds. Until it’s a long bed bed crew cab aka full length school bus I’m ok. I just wanna be able to haul my family of 5’s bicycles without having to leave the tailgate down. And when you throw a trifold tonneau cover or a tool box on the new short truck beds it’s like only like 3-4’ long.

You'll exceed payload before reaching 12.9k

Does a long bed have a higher payload than the short bed
No it’s actually less because longer bed is heavier
Wish you showed the rear suspension I heard it’s beefed up compared to the regular ones

Did GM drop the max trailoring package? I cant seem to find it on the 2023 build your own option.
This is the exact truck I've been considering but I was afraid the rear suspension would ride too rough without a trailer.
The fake brake pedal is what initially put me off then the horrible turning radius and it rides like crap

Yes
It's missing 4 LO and a 6'7" bed. Other than that it's great. I will be purchasing an LZ0 model in the future.

The AT4 diesel needs 3.73 gears and the max tow package. Ridiculous you can't get it.
so many trucks have 3.23's axle
GM could definitely engineer the truck to have both, it's too bad they don't. You can't get the Trail Boss with MT package either for the Silverado.

Hey Ben this truck is soo nice and I love all the specs of it. Just a question, what package do i need to have a folding power tow side mirror? I saw it on some sierra but most common is the little ones.
You just need to add the Tow Mirror package, which costs about $260 US.
I’m so considering selling my 2500hd 6.0 for this truck. I tow a toy hauler w/ranger is about 10000lbs max. 10mpg on my big ass truck is just terrible
Not having a video review mirror is dispointing
Are towing mirrors optional with the Max Tow Package? This truck doesn't have them
Yes
you did not talk a lot about what the difference is between the max tow
Larger 9.76" axle, lower 3.73 axle ratio, updated shock tuning, higher capacity springs, heavy duty radiator.
No trailer tow mirrors?
Looks like kip with a beard 🤣😂
