I live in the Pacific Northwest and mainly tow in the mountains and average between 10.5 and 12.5 mpg and I have never had to go below the speed limit except to wait up for a friend towing less weight with a 2007 8.1L. I average 27.5 when not towing, wifes boss has the same truck without the Max tow and gets around 32mpg.

      @TheSouders yes, as I said my wife's boss has a 2024 Denali and he gets around 32mpg and my Daughter recently bought a 2023 GMC elevation and is getting the same 32mpg. She just moved across the country to Tennessee and towed a 9000lb trailer and averaged 13.9 for the 2200 mile trip. She does not have the max tow, but I think the extra HP and Torque really make a difference in the 23 and up model.

    I wonder if you could have held your speed at 60 going up, if you ran either cruise control or manually selected gears? Thoughts?

      No, truck was out of EGT headroom. Once it gets over about 1050 it starts pulling power. The torque request is basically the amount of available power.

    Thanks for all the Videos, definitely helping me in deciding my next truck to pull my current Travel Trailer at 23ft/ 4600lbs (may upgrade soon to a longer 28-30ft about 7000lbs). Going between the new GM 1500s with the baby Duramax and Nissan Titan XD 5.6 Gas. Know the Titan will tow better but like the Duramax as a great cross between being able to tow my 6-10 times a year but also get great everyday/highway MPG when not towing. Your truck have the 3.23 or 3.73 rear end ratio?

    • @duramaxadventures5832
      @duramaxadventures5832  ปีที่แล้ว

      my truck is an AT4 so has 3.23. 3.73 is what I would suggest unless you need 4WD Lo. if you lo range you will be forced to get a high country max trailering as that is the ONLY way to get both.

    Man the oil temp was making me nervous lol. Does gm say thats within normal operating range when fully loading that vehicle and working it 100%? Egts arent bad though, 1200 for that thing pulling the weight its got to pull up a grade at 8k feet. Is this a factory tune ?

    • @duramaxadventures5832
      @duramaxadventures5832  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @duramaxadventures5832
      @duramaxadventures5832  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly EGT are in control due to the ECM limiting power during sustained loads. That torque request (bottom right corner) is the dynamic tuning. Anything under 100 (at WOT) it's pulling power.

      @billyyank5334 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I doubt it if it is a stock 7.3. The 1995 7.3 specs are 225 hp and 450 lb-ft. The little LM2 Duramax is 277 hp and 460 lb-ft and not to mention your 7.3 is going to be in a heavier F-250/350 unless you shoe horned it into an F-150 if it's even possible, so this Duramax 1500 will be walking all over you if you were pulling the same trailer weight. And I failed to mention that fancy 7.3 is 2.4 larger in displacement and making less power. LOL

    • @duramaxadventures5832
      @duramaxadventures5832  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Useable. Wish EGT could be kept lower to keep power up. LZ0 should solve this.
      Sway, nothing to note, this trailer won't sway unless you get REAL crazy loading it.
      Power wise is a bit of a double-edged sword on one hand they really gently taper this power to where you're not really going to notice that it's slowly decreasing power. (Whereas on a heavy duty it tends to be very apparent when it reduces power). On the other hand when not doing long passes and just doing sort of medium stuff I wish it would give you a little bit more lead room before it starts pulling power.
      I should probably clarify I'm not talking about power tanking off of a cliff it just slowly decreases it a couple percent at a time.
      Bear in mind though I also don't drive like a lunatic and I recognize that I weigh 15,000 lb. I've also always had a loaded trailer that weighs more than the truck.
      Honestly outside of the mountains from behind the wheel you don't really notice that you're working it hard, so it's really good at holding gears. Mpg and def you know but everything else is relaxing
      Fun fact I got better mileage on this run than I do towing my 5,000 lb trailer behind my LBZ.

    Towed our 7500 lbs TT thru there last summer with a 2021 Silverado with the 3.0 and had no problems. Engine temp never got above 220 and oil temp maxed out at 210. And the Engine brakes worked without any problems on the down hill keeping speed at what I had set with the CC.
