Scotty, as a frequent viewer, I have a small request: can you stop moving the camera so fast here, there, here, there … left, right, up, down… it makes some of the videos incredibly hard to watch. Just a small request from a faithful long-term viewer. 2018 Toyota Tundra 2009 Acura MDX 2006 Vibe (your Matrix twin!) best and my favorite car! 2011 Odyssey
Damn man, you've been doing this for so many years I honestly trust your reviews and repair tips more then any mechanic or online page out there. You're the king!
Just drove my Rav4 to vacation with the family and one of those cargo hard top sports racks. It impressed me so very much. Ended up on a bad road with uneven, sandy ruts by a cornfield and it didn't care at all. Popped out a cooler and ate lunch. Can't thank the Rav4 enough for literally de-stressing the situation entirely!
Working at a toyota dealership as a detailer we sell quiet a few Rav4's. There not bad cars at all, there decently quick and fun to drive. There have some really cool colors out now too and the techs say there pretty reliable
I have a 2018 RAV4 LE, not a hybrid, currently has 29,000 miles on it, same color as the one in this video and I love it, keep up on the maintenance and it still runs like new.
The RAV4 Hybrid has a ECVT (transmission) unlike the gas version. If you are planning to keep your vehicle 10+ years and in excess of 200,000 in mileage this is not the vehicle for you.
I bought a 15 plate in 16, a 2 litre diesel and fully loaded . I still have it after 75,000 miles and apart from the usual tyre replacement and servicing costs the only problems encountered are a paint chip on the bumper and leather coming off the steering wheel . It is a Japanese manufactured car and everything seems as tight as the day I bought it . I have changed the tyres to Michelin all season which I really am impressed with and have decided to keep the car past my normal five year life cycle because it is showing no signs of upcoming issues . It averages 40 mpg which I think is ok and overall I have confidence in it to do the same mileage again . I do however have issues with it , it is soulless , has awd which turns off at 28 mph , has switches that have no lights or are under the central hump which you cannot see . It has folding side mirrors that you have to fold before leaving the car which is dangerous on busy roads , so you leave them out which means they can be clipped which defeats the object of them . I did consider buying the new hybrid but thought it would be more of the same , it has kept me trapped because of its reliability but resentful because of its lack of any character . When I was considering a car I drove a Land Rover Freelander for a week and loved everything about it but it was another £5000 more expensive so I opted for the Rav 4 after trying a Honda CR-V , Kia Sorrento and Audi Q3 . The Audi was nice but more expensive and I discounted this as I did the Land Rover although I much preferred the Land Rover . Yes I would probably have had a few issues with the Freelander but it put a smile on my face and every time I see one I regret not paying the extra . Cars make us do unlikely things that you don’t do in other scenarios, reliability versus enjoyment is a constant factor which the Rav is winning at the moment but I keep talking myself out of buying a Jaguar F pace or Land Rover Discovery Sport for reliability the Rav shows but my driving experience is extremely dull . I think I know that once I get a problem it is gone , which is what I tell myself and then I can be happy but the damn thing won’t go wrong .
I wanted a RAV4 SOOOO BAD but couldn't find one locally. 😔 That's going to b my next car FOR SURE!! Thank u SOOO much for this video. Wish I'd watched it a week ago before I purchased a vehicle! 😥
Watch the Car Care Nut. He will advise you on what year to buy. I am currently driving a ‘16 Rav4 xle hybrid. I love it. I get 32-33 mpg all around. It does have only 51000 miles on it. It is my third Rav4 and never once have I had a repair. I do the required maintenance on time.
I had a 1996 2 door RAV4 that lasted me all the way to 2016. The best long lasting and economical car ever. Everyone I’ve met that have ever had one always tells me about their reliability as well. I have a Toyota 86 now but if I ever decide to get a crossover car, it will definitely be another Rav4.
My best friend bought a new Rav4 a few months ago and all of the black plastic trim pieces on the outside are blotchy and different colors and textures. When he had it at the dealership for service he asked about it and the service manager took him out and showed him his personal vehicle (RAV4) with the same problem. Toyota insists there isn’t a problem and it was probably caused by some aftermarket protectant product. He loves the car except for the defective plastic parts.
We have a 2022 RAV4 hybrid XLE, we average 48-50 MPG, mostly city driving. We love it. The hybrid Corolla was averaging 58-63 MPG. (traded that one in for the RAV)
I agree with you Scotty. Batteries are a very important part in modern vehicles. I just replaced the battery in my 2013 Chrysler T&C, not because it tested poor, but because it was 9 years old and I know it is on borrowed time and could let me down at any time. I was shocked by the price of the battery - $189.00 - OUCH.
Yep! Mine popped out in the Texas heat! $189 plus tax=$200! I didn’t know batteries were so expensive but glad it was just the battery. I did get stranded in a hot parking lot in the heat. Car would honk once when I turned it on but nobody could tell me why it did that. No check engine light so couldn’t get a code. I changed the battery in the fob but that didn’t fix it. I guess the battery was giving me a warning but I didn’t get the hint. lol
I want a fancy new car but can't park my 2004 Echo RS 5 speed 4 door hatch. Paid $7k for it in 2007. 420k miles. Original clutch, alternator, ac, radiator, just changed the rear drums for the first time, I've spent less than 5k(oil changes, tires) on it in 15 years. 45mpg, 0-60 in 6 seconds or so. A beast in the winter. Better in the snow than my 4x4. Never giving her up. Going for 1million with all original parts.
Tried one and wound up buying a conventional one from the dealer. We'd had a Prius (junk in my opinion) and we went to trade it off, and the Toyota dealer only offered $700 in trade for a Camry Hybrid. The main reason for the offer was the battery that they admitted is an environmental problem. We bought a Mazda instead but now we have a conventional Rav 4. 29 mpg and no worries about the stupid battery! Just my experience. Yours may vary.
Bought myself a 2015 RAV4 about a year ago and phew was that a tough car to find! But it's definitely the best car I've ever owned. I got the AWD version and it still gets like 24 MPG as long as I don't "drive like a maniac" as Scotty would say. Haven't had an issue with it yet and it even handled some light off roading in Utah like a champ!
Ahh in the winter of 2021 before the shortages triggered the price increases I managed to get myself a used one owner 2017 Rav4 hybrid xle w/ convenience & technology packages and 36,000 miles for only $22,000 OTD. those were the days
I just got rid of a 2016 Rav4 XLE because the torque converter went out in it at only 80,000 miles. Cheapest quote I got to fix it was $4,500. Super disappointed because I loved that car!
Just took a 1,000 mile Trip in my 13 Camry LE still runs like a dream soaked that trip up like it was nothing has the old tried and true 6 speed automatic smooth as butter still got killer gas mileage. Grew up in Toyotas my grandpa has owned more Toyotas than anybody anywhere and he’s not a fleet company he’s on his 30th one 2022 Camry hybrid LE phenomenal car.
Ford Motor Company Paint Quality Control here ! Retired in 2007 Norfolk Virginia F150 assembly Plant . The car that you were checking for painted parts because of “accident” can and will happen at the assembly plant. That red car could have been sent back through the repair line sanded and repainted. We will tape up the rest of the cab or box that doesn’t have any defects! If right side of box has excessive dirt or sag clear or base coat ? We will bag and tape left side box. I also worked in small parts so I would change out tailgate or hood and doors if it got damaged in final or trim assembly! This would be last repair before being shipped by rail or truck! I would like To give some insight for the regular consumer. Our plan in Norfolk was ranked 13th in the world for quality control. We took pride in communicated with the engineers in paint manufacture to deliver the best product! So in the mid 80s as you and I know the paint on hoods roofs of are Vehicles fueled heavily and faded. I know the reason why and I will share? So Ford motor company was the largest manufacturer of automotive paint in the world. We sold the paint company to Dupont ! There engineers and accounting tune decided to take out some elements in the clearcoat to illuminate cost ! This was a big mistake because the chemicals they took out held bonding elements between the enamel basecoat to the clearcoat process! Therefore during high temperature the final paint process would separate mostly on Roof trunk and everyone’s favorite hood! Just thought I would share. Also The more times the truck goes back to get repainted the more problems are going to occur. Ford motor company on the F series has more color combinations that all trucks manufactures put together. More selections of colors and two tones. Toyota for several years only had four colors in to this date do not have two tones!
Scottso, Toyota’s definitely screwed up a truck I had my mind made up on and when I found out about the defective turbo waste gate system, I was as disappointed as I’ve ever been in my life about anything. Now I’ll never buy a 2022 Tundra unless they return to their 5.7L 350 V-8. What a SCREW UP MAJOR!!! So whatever they do to screw up any of their other once great rides wouldn’t surprise me either. Presently, we have a 2003 Camry XLE V-6 we can’t PAY to break down. Super reliable forever. So what the HELL they’re trying to do lately has me baffled!!
Seems like a pretty nice car, not my style being a crossover. However, it’s pretty well equipped, looks pretty good, it’s practical and has proper AWD. Definitely a nice ride
Working for Toyota and just bout a 22’ rav4 xle awd and It’s the best decision I ever made. Only complaint is that it’s always hunting for gears even after it learns the way you drive.
Another uk 🇬🇧 Subscriber. Been watching your videos for years. Not many guys on here that give honest advice with the knowledge and experience as you! Luv your channel. Here in the UK 🇬🇧 with gas / petrol ⛽️ prices nearly £2 UK pounds a liter. My Honda Hr-v Cross over 1.5 4 cylinder petrol gets 50 plus mpg on a highway and 40 round town.
I owned and sold a 2020 RAV4 hybrid. Had a few issues with it mostly the gas would only fill to 3/4 full because of the design. I sold that car for pretty much what I bought it for. Waiting for the 2023 or 2024 prime hybrid that doesn't have the same gas tank design of the 2019 & 2020.
I have an 18 Camry I think I know what you mean. It fills all the way. It’s the gauge measuring fuel level. Mine shows PAST the FULL line and shows 3/4 of a tank at around half a tank based on the miles I have left
@@crusherman96 Our 2018 Highlander hybrid has the same issue, the cause is the upside down horseshoe shape of the fuel tank. Although it technically holds some 18 or more gallons, it technically goes to empty after much less. Something to do with the transfer limitations based on this design and results in a lesser range between fill ups than advertised. Like a 100+ less miles for the Highlander! Possible class action suit…
@@davenelson8187 damn that's a a huge difference. I wonder if my Tacoma has a similar issue. I wanted to see how far I could go before my fuel light came on. The range estimate was at like 12 miles before the light came on, but I could only fill up 18 gallons in it afterwards on a 21 gallon tank. I get that the range is an estimate but I thought my truck was running on fumes when it has plenty more.
@@crusherman96 Correct, it's leaving several gallons unusable to prevent the tank transfer pump from cavitation. The fuel delivery to the engine is fed from one leg of the tank (so I understand).
When you get a Toyota Hybrid , make sure you get one with E-AWD which has extra regenerative braking to charge the battery. that extra juice in the battery will give you better MPG. I noticed that after driving a sienna Hybrid which gets 40 mpg around town. 35 on the highway. I used to drive a Prius C which got 55 mpg. That dual motor E-AWD really stops that 5000lb vehicle faster than my little prius C with a tiny little motor when you are only stopping the vehicle using the regenerative braking.
Scotty, after watching your video about the history of Toyota( that was fantastic!) , I just read that the Crown is making its return to replace the Avalon!!
So, the best way for intelligence Americans is, to let the whole German car crap simply back in German. No matter if European fords, audis , Mercedes vw bmw Porsche ore the other crap
I owned a 2013 RAV4 and traded it in after I put 150,000 miles on it. It was a very reliable vehicle. I liked it except for the 4-cylinder engine. Toyota really screwed up when they pulled back the V-6 for the RAV4. The 4-banger only gets 1-2 MPG better, so all the talk about saving gas money is a crock. The biggest effect on that is how you drive it. I'd give it 8 stars, just wish it had an engine with more power that didn't sound like a lawnmower. I definitely like my Kia Sorento a lot better.
One day I stopped for deer to cross the road . Instead it rammed my driver’s side of my 2010 Corolla . It left a big dent that I used a plunger to fix it. Still has a dimple but it’s good to go
The RAV4 is an excellent vehicle. Absolutely loving mine. Slightly older (2015 model) but it's a very smooth ride, it's got excellent mpg, only one previous owner, in excellent condition, and .. well, it rides like a dream. :)
2016 -2018 rav4 is one of the most reliable Toyotas that exist IF they had oil changes at least every 5000 miles and the transmission fluid was changed every 50 to 60 thousand miles.
I’m ok with my regular 2017 rav4. I keep it maintained and haven’t had any issues with it. Don’t drive it a lot but still wish it had better gas mileage.
there is no inventory for new cars at all. they are only selling expansive suvs. If i have a job now and buy a car I will but if I have to wait 4 months for the car to be delivered I might lose my job then I wont need a car
I hate my Ugly ‘11 Prius & I am waiting for an excuse to get rid of it. A month ago I had it serviced for inspection & checked and the mechanic cheerfully said, “everything looks great, I have nothing to sell you”. I’m like damn you Toyota I wanted a new rav4 😡. Can’t justify getting rid of it.
I got the 2021 Sienna and with a handicap lift 180LB a wheelchair 175LB and 600lb of passengers I'm getting 37mpg :) Funny thing is the dealer called me yesterday wanting to buy it back for 5k over what I paid for it last year sheshh. And that's with 22k miles on it.
Toyota Rav 4s have been on the Insurance "bad" list since they came out. Toyota would NOT accept the fact that having the spare tire on the back hatch was very vulnerable to extreme damage $$ after even a minor Bump ! After all these years Toyota has finally taken that spare tire off the back and put it where IT BELONGS !!!
Watch the videos for a product called " super bumper " , shows how bad the entire rear hatch door and glass and quarter panels crush when using stock bumper , crushed severly just backing into a pole , thousands of $$ damage just backing into a pole
I have one of these for work. 2017 AWD Hybrid with 101,000 miles. Great car, but I can't stand that the engine constantly stops and starts. It is very noticeable and the car shakes when it happens.
@@Mike__P I realize now you have the hybrid. I thought you meant the auto start stop. Maybe the hybrid won’t turn off. That would drive me crazy too. I can’t stand auto start stop. First thing I do in my wife’s rav4 is turn it off
So, my rav4 2017 is doing this turn on off mostly absolutely smoot but u be right sometimes, it depends on, what kind of a driver u are and I once I do engine braking manually, it had shaked sometimes BUT MY HINT TO YOU GUY, with 100k u should absolutely simply exchange your transmission fluid. I did this and since then my rav is shifting almost perfectly. Because it is with its great performance and possible superior consumption a very technical car, BUT UNLIKE CONVENTIONAL 8 SPEED AT TRANNYS VERY EASY TO DO IT BY YOURSELF TO DRAIN THE OLD FLUID AND FILL IT AGAIN UP. BECAUSE GREAT MAINTENANED DRIVING INSTRUMENT (CAR) PERFORMANCE NOT YUST WAY BETTER BUT LAST MORE THAN DOUBLE AS LONG AND SAVE SO YOUR MONEY AND NERVES. That's yust the way, how it is. Because, what is the effort from a 80k trany oilchange, in relation to a new one or that u can drive your loved car huge amounts of years in the same shape like a new one (to at least if u have a Toyota lexus in my case the kia back then wasn't bad at all 140k like new) you should change after 7 to 8 years the cooling fluid, the brake fluid as well in this case you do correctly in time change all those fluids, your Toyota car runs after 10 to almost 20 years, like new there's no arguing that ONLY RUST CAN SERIOUSLY IN THE RUSTBELT UNFORTUNATELY STILL BE A NUMBER even for Toyota and with this m i don't be agree at all no matter what brand. This is very unfair, in warm countries without salt, car chassis last for the eternity
I am still driving my 2011 3rd generation 4cyl. Its not the most comfortable car anymore, not great on gas, but its reliable AF. I've watched my friends go through 2 or 3 hyundais since I've had this car. I am interested in the Corolla Cross as my next car! I am 6'4. I dont fit in the 4th and 5th gen Ravs well at all. Somehow the smaller Cross is way more comfortable
Our Hyundai Santa Fe (Australia) gets 35mpg on the highway and 26mpg around town. AWD, bigger and heavier than the Rav4 with bigger wheels and tyres too. 2.2lt turbo 4cyl diesel engine. Pretty good. It's 9 years old.
I drive a 2019 Rav4. 224k miles. Everything still original and still runs great. Honestly, what surprised me the most about this car was how fast it was and how good it was on gas. If I get behind a semi, I can go just about 500 miles on one tank. If I drive 80-85 mph though with everyone else, I can still go about 400 miles on one tank.
@@laforce36 dang that's a good one! I got a 2021 with 19000 I was debating about when our if I will change trans fluid.did you change filter and did you do it yourself?
No comparison I test drove them all and the Toyota rav4 was the winner by a mile it's worth the wait test drive a rav4 if you can find 1 and you'll be very happy you did
Hey Scotty liking the show. I'm a American living in England. I bought a 2015 Toyota RAV4 Icon. It's got a a 2 liter diesel engine connected to a 6 speed manual gearbox. I get a solid 41 mpg average. My question is how much should I trust Toyota's trip computer system?
Fof sure the evil customer and enemies VW and german technology who obvious does betraying the whole world with its much exhausting, pollution emitation , i would never ever trust. And especially no half that size big timing chains, from those notorious bmw engines for example the 2 Liter Diesel, who is unfortunately the legendary rav4 is in the Diesel case been until i guess 2016 optional equipped. Because this poor German engine are way way underbuildet than any average original from Toyota like hybrid and the most normal single combustion engines. That's the truth
JUst wait till the check engune light pops on due to the stupid 02 sensor:{ then disables your 4x4 and cruise control) Toyota hasn't figured out a fix that one yet other than to keep turning off the light
That is a 2018 or earlier. 35 mpg isn't in the ballpark. Had a 2017 hybrid for 3 years before some teenager thought they should drive the wrong way on the street. We got about 26-27 mpg for the life of the car. Replaced with a 2019. We average about 37 with this one, with up to 42 in town if you are light on the accelerator.
All new cars have no Real Rear Bumpers to protect Hatch cargo or Passengers from rear collisions! $4000.00 to repair at less than 5mp.p.h.! And also most don't even mount a spare tire either
Same on the front. And there is no clearance, which I'm guessing gives it another mpg or 2, but it means you can tear your car up if there's so much as a squirrel turd in the road.
My friend drove my normal 2017 rav4, and he basically drifted full speed in the roundabouts. I will say for sure that it handles decent being high in the air. Probably when the shocks will wear out, it will be way worse.
Your buddy’s RAV4 probably feels like it’s drifting at 7mph. They are horrible handling vehicles. My buddy has the same vehicle with 90k. It still runs fine. But it handles like a vehicle with flat tires, no acceleration, the seats are so collapsed they are like sitting in a hammock(his wife, the driver, only weighs 135lbs and he is 170), and every single piece of interior rattles loudly over the smallest bumps. “But they’re reliable!” Unfortunately it’s also intolerable to ride in.
Car came in so fast in the roundabouts i thought we were going to tip over. Car doesn't make a rattle on any bump. The seats are perfect for what they are. Not too comfortable on vert long trips but tolerable.
Im not saying it is a good fun car to drive. Its just a good solid SUV with plenty of power and space. Suspension is not bad at all. if you're not a serious car guy its a solid car.
@Tommy Richardson The fact is it handles decent for a boring toyota suv. Doesnt come close to a nice sedan or something low with good suspension. Nothing more to say.
$30K. Ouch! Still, it is a Older Limited Rav4 Hybrid. However, I rather get a new one. Oh wait?!? I did but I paid more then $30K for a Limited Hybrid. Still all in all that is not bad for a Used Limited Hybrid. (Depending on the mileage though)
In early 2020, I paid $1700 for a used Acura MDX with 155k miles, in incredible shape/ no leaks at all/ no rust/ no dents- COLD dual climate AC. 3 rows of heated leather seats, heated mirrors. And I'd like to set it next to your new car and you tell me how it's better. lol.. This thing might as well be brand new, even now-- 2 years later. I'll never understand why people buy new cars-- it's just crazy to me.
@@calholli People like me purchase new vehicles because we do not want to purchase someone else's problems. Also a new vehicle today is not all that much more in cost then a used one. We helped our daughter purchase a brand new Corolla recently. The cost of a used Corolla was almost the same price. Plus her new Corolla LE was $22K. That is a real good deal for a Gas Only car that gets up to 38mpg. Plus it is under warranty as well...
Been buying or leasing RAV 4 for 12 years now. NON plug in hybrids also. The hybrids cannot possibly save gas if you live where I live, which is a mountainous area in NE PA. Too many steep climbs. Nevertheless, a good car! And I am driving a leased one now. This time no Hybrid. It is definitely noisier than the Hybrid. Took a while to get used to the noise. If you can afford this car, buy it.
Cablegate issue? I work at a Toyota dealership and have never had a rav come in for one. Not aware of a service bulletin, will take a look. I own a 22’ rav 4 and it’s amazing. It just likes to hunt gears and it’s loud but I don’t mind the noise.
@@seanryan7896hybrid rav4 cablegate is the high voltage wire harness rusts to hell in 2 or 3 years and isnt covered under warranty, so about $5k to fix a brand new vehicle. There are news stories on it, so you should hear about it soon.
@@Jay-sb2xs look it online. Teslas are going for over 400,000 miles. Look it up for yourself, don't believe me until you confirm for yourself. I can tell you that gas and diesel passenger vehicles typically don't last for over 200,000 miles. Not without thousands of dollars of maintenance.
Scotty-- those Xtool scanners are just an Android based tablet-------- you can scroll down from the top and turn up your brightness bar, just like any other android phone. Turn UP THE BRIGHTNESS
The 4cyl ice is better and cheaper, but slower with lower city mpg. But it will last far beyond the lifetime of the expensive hybrid electrical components that will kill the hybrid. Signed/ Dead 08 hyH owner.
Tacoma has seat belt alarm and backup warning. Unfortunately the same sounding alarm. Which means you might think your seat belt alarm is the source. Ouch!
In 1976 I had a 1974 Vega auto trans. After some special work I performed, I was averageing 34 mpg, no computer so don't tell me getting high mpg on older vehicles is not possible.

Yea way better, the rogues can have transmission problems from what I know. The RAV4’s are nice reliable vehicles
30 plus pretty expensive
@ Wielent Schoten, you could still buy a certified pre owned around the year 2016 for a good price. They are still extremely reliable.

Bought my wife a brand new 2021 rav4 for $31k last year
Hey Scotty, I've been subscribed for about 6 years and I still love this channel! I learn something in every video.
I have a 2018 RAV4 LE, not a hybrid, currently has 29,000 miles on it, same color as the one in this video and I love it, keep up on the maintenance and it still runs like new.
You will probably die before your car does
I want a new Rav4 hybrid but with the new car market so screwed up I am keeping my 8 year old Civic a couple more years.
I heard by the end of 2024 car prices will come down
CRV is better than RAV4.
Yep. Totally happy with my '17 Honda Fit. Best of all...paid off!
The RAV4 Hybrid has a ECVT (transmission) unlike the gas version. If you are planning to keep your vehicle 10+ years and in excess of 200,000 in mileage this is not the vehicle for you.
@@xnihilo64 hell yeah
What’d you get?
Yes, I wanted to get a new hybrid rav4 / venza and the waitist is months to a year... luckily I am not in a rush at the moment for a car.
I had to buy my 2022 RAV4 from a dealership and I had to wait 6 months and I live like 30 KM from where they are built. lol
You could get an Acrua MDX or RDX also.. Just as good.
Won't last 200k there's always a trade off
@@jackmcneil6569 And you base that on what?
I’ve got Corolla 2022. It’s giving me 65 mpg
I have a 2018 RAV4 AWD hybrid and I only get about 33 mpg. Other than that it's a great car.
That high? Not likely check your math
Wow 9years
I guess the battery was giving me a warning but I didn’t get the hint. lol
You can buy it from costco usually cheaper the regular battery for your car is around $147 with 3 years warranty and $185 for AGM battery.
Im sure Scotty is stunned your 9 yo Chrysler isnt in the junk yard. Im lovin my 94 Chrysler.
$189 on a battery, yawn, the 1980s are over unfortunately. $39 oil changes are over too.
Them telling you that the battery is an environmental problem is a lie to your face for them to be able to lowball you
@@AsekiBekovyNobody recycles those junk battery packs. They either spontaneously combust or stop holding a charge. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I always loved my 2 late 80's Toyota pickups I had with the 22r motor and manual transmission.
I had very little problems with them.
I have a 84 it still going strong just turned 400,000 and I live on a island
If only the body and frame was as good as the engine.
Bullet proof, yes. But they were so slow I just couldn’t drive one every day. 0 to 60 eventually
Scotty, I’ve learned so much from watching and listening to you. Thank you sir!
Hello from the UK scotty have a great weekend 😀
Scotty, new video: explain to people the diffdrent transmissions on the market. Too often CVT and ECVT are seen as the same...
I just bought a 2015 as well! So far I love it. Scotty would be proud!
I love the whine on the breaking for some reason... so excited, my RAV4 should arrive in September.
Ahh in the winter of 2021 before the shortages triggered the price increases I managed to get myself a used one owner 2017 Rav4 hybrid xle w/ convenience & technology packages and 36,000 miles for only $22,000 OTD. those were the days
Wish I had one. Mine is a ‘16.
I just got rid of a 2016 Rav4 XLE because the torque converter went out in it at only 80,000 miles. Cheapest quote I got to fix it was $4,500. Super disappointed because I loved that car!
Just took a 1,000 mile
Trip in my 13 Camry LE still runs like a dream soaked that trip up like it was nothing has the old tried and true 6 speed automatic smooth as butter still got killer gas mileage.
Scottso,
Toyota’s definitely screwed up a truck I had my mind made up on and when I found out about the defective turbo waste gate system, I was as disappointed as I’ve ever been in my life about anything.
I bought one for my wife and I drive it 90% of the time. It's such a cool, easy little car to drive around with zero issues.
Working for Toyota and just bout a 22’ rav4 xle awd and It’s the best decision I ever made. Only complaint is that it’s always hunting for gears even after it learns the way you drive.
I just got a 22 rav4 xle myself and LOVE it
@Tommy Richardson it’s always learning, having someone else drive your car won’t ruin your life. You can always do a memory reset!
Are thouse same gallons? US vs UK
@@Harrythehun Good question, no uk gallon. I do drive very ecomically as the price of petrol / gas here is sky high.
@@Harrythehun 1 uk gallon is 1.2 us gallons. 50 uk mpg / 1.2 = 41 us mpg. If my maths is correct.
My 2015 RAV4 (non hybrid) gets 35 MPG if I keep the cruise set @65 mph. So, that is as fast as a drive with this insane fuel pricing lately.
Good economy
I work in Service and there was this clean 2017 Camry that has 231,000 miles. Just routine oil changes and new tires as all.
Could you elaborate on "the gas would only fill to 3/4 full because of the design?"
The fuel delivery to the engine is fed from one leg of the tank (so I understand).
it's funny Scotty should use a terminator picture at 0:59 , once upon time they had a special edition Terminator 3 Tunrda.
I ain't driving no hybrid.

Once the trip computer is built from Toyota itself u can currently absolute trust the.
Scotty what is your opinion of Toyota super 1985
JSU bruh tf you talking about?

Have an 07 accord V6 with only 80000 miles on it....I'm good till 2040 or until I die
@@mcc7762 yup. Here in PuertoRico its full of hills/mountains, paying thousands extra for a hybrid here is just throwing money away.
I've been looking at a new rav4 but I keep hearing about the cablegate issue so I guess I'll wait for now
Cablegate issue? I work at a Toyota dealership and have never had a rav come in for one. Not aware of a service bulletin, will take a look. I own a 22’ rav 4 and it’s amazing. It just likes to hunt gears and it’s loud but I don’t mind the noise.
@@seanryan7896hybrid rav4 cablegate is the high voltage wire harness rusts to hell in 2 or 3 years and isnt covered under warranty, so about $5k to fix a brand new vehicle. There are news stories on it, so you should hear about it soon.
I want to buy a hybrid. I want ground clearance and lots of leg room. I am torn between a RAV4 or a Camry.
Why look at the Camry if you want ground clearance?
@@ShaferHart My mom has one from 1988 and it still runs. And I generally want a car that will last.
In the uk they have unveiled a model called the bz4x.
You should review the Suzuki Rav4
At 7:10, is that car trying to pass you on a double solid yellow line? Why?
Freakin love this dude
Scotty, check out Toyota's first all electric car the bz4x. Why did Toyota offer to buy them all back.
My 2010 rav4 3.5 liter and 4x4 gets up to 27 and more on open road consistently. Not bad at all for a 6 cyl 4x4 suv.
That's 22 1/2 Canadian MPG. Not so great dude.
Buy a pure petrol or diesel or even hybrid c n g but never a electric hybrid
Scotty, question.
any bad starter experience from advance Auto or auto zone.
I have had a bad experience.
6 bad starters
Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is a great car
Toyota RAV4 is a poor broke person car. I haven't ever met a successful person driving a RAV4 hybrid. Poor thinking.
@@joelee4495 really those last
@@Jay-sb2xs look it online.
Over 5 million subscribers and he films like my Grandma.
The 4cyl ice is better and cheaper, but slower with lower city mpg. But it will last far beyond the lifetime of the expensive hybrid electrical components that will kill the hybrid.

Never did address the issue Scottty !? ! What the hell did Toyota just do to the Rav 4 ??
Jebaited.
That Vega probably didn’t more than 100hp, so that’s still pretty lousy Mpg by modern standards.
Vega…..lol…..those pieces of junk started rusting out on the showroom floor…..
How did a vehicle, which had a temporary plate expiring in June, drive to you for service in July? 1:53
This new information needs to be reported to the commanding general ASAP!!
