  • This is an example of how you can repurpose and/or preserve jewelry that might not otherwise have a practical use. This Heritage tree was created in 1967 with an antique frame that has been resurfaced. Hope you enjoy it.

    I love this one. It's the most realistic tree I've seen. I have so much old jewelry lying around, I would love to make one!

    This is such a beautiful way to display and honor those you miss and love. My mother and grandmother sold Sarah Coveting in the 60's and I have all the beautiful pins and clip on earrings. I am going to do your idea so they memories can be handed down.

    This is absolutely beautiful. What a joy to make and have. I will be creating a Heritage tree as I have some lovely items to use that belonged to family members. Thank you for sharing this. The close-up at the end was just the right touch and it really helped to bring it all together. Appreciate it very much.

      Thank you Kate, I used to have a class to help people make them. They also make great and thoughtful Christmas and wedding gifts. I know you will enjoy doing it. :o)

    So beautiful, I used foam board instead of plywood. Then velvet.
    E-6000 glue is supposed to be the best adhesive so jewels don’t fall off. In a well ventilated room.

    I would love to do this with the old costume jewelry my mother had, but I can't find any videos about what tools to use to remove the backs of clip on earrings or the pin part of a brooch or jewelry pin. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks. Your tree is lovely. Thanks for the video.

      I haven't made one yet, still searching like you ! I did come across a website called thriftyfun that said to use a good strong craft glue... They also advised against using super glue, warning that is turns gold black.... Hope that helps...

    Hello. I haven't seen you on videos in awhile. Hope you are okay. I had a question about crating the jewelry picture. Did you frame the velvet board first and then add jewelry or put the jewelry on it and add it to a frame? Thanks for Sony help.

    • @thriftnpickcountrystyle872
      @thriftnpickcountrystyle872  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 1/4" plywood that I had cut to fit the antique frame. Then I glued the velvet directly to the plywood on the back side (you could also use staples to help hold the fabric).
      I created a rough triangle outline with string and used that has a guideline for placing the jewelry. You will find that placing most of the jewelry loose before you glue it down is the best way to work. That way you can make adjustments before you make it permanent.
      I don't remember the glue but I believe it was Elmers. Hope this helps, it does stay nice, I did this one nearly 50 years ago. :o)
      You can use either red (dark) or green (again dark) for a background.
