    I love #6, but they all show how beauty can be made from the broken.

    I was looking for ideas to upcycle vintage jewelry and I think you inspired some ideas - I may do similar, more 3D and sun-catcher style since the Christmas season is over now.

      Thanks for your comment … there is a thick plastic liquid called “Pouring Medium” that they sell in art stores which most people use for making artwork via “pours”. It’s fascinating art, you can look it up. Well that’s the stuff they use (and add colour to) and I bought a gallon of it once by accident thinking it was gesso! Not wanting to go back to the store I decided to find a use for it. 😂

    Hard to pick a favorite but maybe #7. It’s fascinating to watch you but it goes so fast, it’s hard to tell how you’re getting them all to stay. Could you explain your process in real time - like a voice over of what you did? Varnish and glue - which is first?

    • @dorothealeblancart
      @dorothealeblancart  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good idea. I’ll explain shortly here: I paint the background panel or canvas first. Then I play with my arrangement until I like it. Then I use glue - E6000 for large and heavy jewelry pieces OR acrylic varnish (even thinned down) for thin chains/necklaces so they don’t get pushed where I don’t want them. Once everything is well tacked down and totally dry, I’ll use one or two layers of pouring medium over the whole thing. (You could use a few layers of varnish to but I accidentally bought a gallon of pouring medium instead of gesso so I’m using it up 😅).
      Be sure to let each layer of varnish or glue dry well. And don’t speed dry, I tried that once and the top surface of the glue dries first, not allowing any glue “pockets” to dry - wet glue stays white(!).

      Thanks for your comment! Great question and lately as I looked at them (in my living room) I thought the same thing. I think laziness is the answer. … I was imagining a snowy background.
      (By the way, my iPhone makes colours more intense than they really are.)

      On this project, I tacked everything down lightly with a thin acrylic varnish (sometimes I use thinned down white glue). And then when it’s totally dried, I paint on a layer or two of pouring medium - not so much that it flows over the piece, but I also paint the edges.

      Actually I used two 1/4” boards glued together to be able to hang them more easily. One board has a slot about one inch by 1/4 inch so it can fit a screw or nail that’s in the wall. These could also possibly be displayed on a little easel. They are 5 x 7 inches
