  • Yes it's the name but this boat did make me feel like Tony Stark. In this video we put the prototype of the New Sterk 31 to the test in very challenging conditions with large steep waves that were coming into the bay with a very short wave period. The kind of conditions that can break some boats if you go to fast. After that test we whipped around the corner to find some flatter water and opened the twin 300Hp Yamaha's up to wide open throttle and experienced the full capability of this exceptional machine.
Considering speeds we hit and the conditions we tackeled this Sterk 31 is a brand you need to watch if you're looking for the next level in performance day boats. This thing is a bit of an animal so she needs to be tamed by tallented and experienced drivers. But if you have the experience to drive a 31ft boat at projected speeds of 70kts then the Sterk 31 could be the boat for you.
There is an interesting story behind this new brand which i'd like to go into detail in future videos but for now please enjoy this striking new design and put this brand on your watch list if you have owned an Axopar and you're looking for the next level of excitment on the water.

Wow! I really like this Beauty, looks like something between a Saxdor and a Ryck. Nice!

It will be interesting - no walk-thru video posted as I write this - how the designer wove together any meaningful accommodations with this stupendously capable performance hull. Video never shows it well, so let me add that my wife and I watched this and remembered the ricochet wave action of Mallorca's iron-like edges into open water. This boat made exceptionally fast powering in confused seas far, far more easy than should be expected.

Spot on Jack! So generally I found the conditions around Mallorca to be extremely mild. However - when the wind was up and on some parts of the island (like in this shoot) we encountered these steel little waves between 1-2m with a very short wave period so you were hitting the next wave almost immediately. That can be boat breaking conditions if you are not careful and I was very happy with how that Sterk absorbed those hits so well. Remember I was lying down on the floor while flying my drone so if the hull isn’t good I’ll feel it. I do think due to the capability of this hull that it should be restricted to more experienced drivers as these higher speeds are not for inexperienced boaters in my opinion

Dan smiling about playing chicken with other boats exposes the mischievous little boy he must have been as a child. They should definitely habe one of those angle switches that cuts the engine power if the boat goes up past a certain angle. When a particular high speed boat from Turkey was tested and got over 65kts ,the bow started to rise significantly because they boat was also a catamaran and had a hydrofoil. They had to angle the inner hull to keep water flowing downward and keep the boat anchored in the water. Liftoff oversteer is fun in cars, not in boats

We don’t have many Formula boats in Aus so realistically would need to look in the States for one of them.

You keep talking about safety but never havelife vest

I always wear a vest when the conditions justify it. I look at safety as much more than just chucking a vest on and thinking job done. Plenty more steps before then to avoid the possible use of a vest in the first place. We have a saying to always remember your 6 P's. Prior, Preperation, Prevents, Piss, Poor, Performance
