Mother three is a newfound fave for me, been playing it on the 3DS which is soooo much better than playing it on pc (which is how i played earthbound). the 3ds just makes everything 10x better and more charming.

Not to mention the fact thay you're technically playing the game natively instead of emulating it. To put it simply, the 3DS has all the hardware needed to run GBA games the exact same way as their original system. This means there's no button delay, making the 3DS a great system to play Mother 3 on since you have to time your attack combos with the battle music.
@@paulnovacek3715 Yeah. Because the 3DS has a DS inside a 3DS. and the DS has a GBA inside of it, you can play GBA games natively.

I think my fav thing on modded 3ds is the twilight forwarder you can get from universal updater, I was able to use it to make home page icons for Roms instead of having to open twilight to play DS/gba games
For me it was AGB_Firm. Trying to play MMBN with homebrews mGBA emulator, even when I had frame skipping on there was SO MUCH LAG it was awful. Now, if I hold start when I turn my system on, it's like I'm playing my Gameboy Advance again.
I personally use an r4 gold card without the timebomb firmware. It's fantastic. Hell, I can even download twilight++ onto it, but it already does everything twilight does.

Really nice setup you have. I modded my old DSi XL a few weeks ago, and now it’s the only thing I’m playing on (my modded 3DS XL is now crying in the corner).
I just run DSI homebrew on my new 3ds xl with TWiLight menu++ lol, definitely better on an actual DSI tho.
@@gatorgamerdude9946 I was originally running DS games via the NDR forwarder on the 3DS, but I soon noticed how washed out the colour saturation was on some games, plus because of the pixel display difference DS games are softened slightly on the 3DS. Also GBA games look amazing on the DSi XL (pixel perfect and the colours really pop thanks to the IPS screen).
@@billystars yeah playing DS games on a 3ds isn't the best, I prefer playing them on my DS lite but I take my 3ds with me everywhere I go so most of the time I use my 3ds instead
@@billystars If you hold down the start button while loading a DS game it will change the resolution to be the original size which is more sharp instead of the blown up and more blurry full screen

Never thought I’d hear someone mention Pokémon Rumble!!! I played the wii version with a friend every Saturday for a while :,) It’s a simple game but it also has a soft spot in my heart
Got my first 2ds on wednesday, and I'm having a blast with it (CFW was basically seamless and took me like a hour at most, dumping all the cartridges took a lot longer for sure).
Can't wait to do my first mod by installing a usb-c charging port, as it seems easy (literally swap the old charge port and put the new in).
So glad I finally got my hands on one.

@@jdssurf yes. I've bought every single cartridge for ds/2ds I always wanted to own and made a pretty solid physical collection.
With godmode in the CFW you can dump your cartridges, so that you may play them without needing to insert them every time

I have two modded 3ds and about the only thing in good at is installing games. I see you have your internet on, I’m always worried about a ban and I don’t keep up on the scene enough to know if it’s safe for updating n all that jazz. Wish I wasn’t getting so old and starting to feel inept when it comes to the hacking scene. I just don’t do it enough. I used to be that guy. Any tips on where I can look to check and see if it’s safe to upgrade my 3ds and modded software versions? Ty for the video it was cool to see
Bro could you help me if i load in MK7 or Mario Maker it will have a loop screen with the 3ds logo and the red arrows the normal start animation but its an loop. I bought Mario Maker a while ago and i had no problems what should i do? i tried to install mk7 from FBI, Hshop nothing changes...

I constantly go back to my modded 3DS as the handheld I carry with me every day. It’s just got all the games I want to play.
Funniest thing is that you play the music of perhaps the best game on PS Vita in the background. That say something.

This is where folders would come in handy, good sir. Organize things quite nicely.
As for Super Mario All-stars+World, it's a great way to play, but the originals (Mario Bros., Super Mario 1, Lost Levels aka The Real Super Mario 2, Super Mario USA aka our Super Mario 2, Super Mario 3, and Super Mario World aka Super Mario 4) have all been released individually.
I have actually tried folders but i prefer all my apps spread out personally. But yea folders would absolutely clean things up.
Nice video bro, recently I've been playing PS1 games with Retroarch, titles like Final Fantasy Tactics combines so well with the 3DS... Arcade beat'n ups and shooters are great to play on it too.

with the eshop closing, a non-modded 3ds is essentially useless unless you want to buy overpriced used games

Am I the only one who caught that he may still be using his friends eShop account since he still has the VC Red and Blue games he said were already on the console or am I missing something and the console can be reset while keeping downloaded games?
Which should I go with, a modded PSP, a modded PS Vita or a modded New 3DS?
They’re all wildly different; I recommend 3DS if you can only choose one (for the sheer variety of games it can play), but definitely pick up a PSP/Vita if you get the chance afterwards.

Sorry for the late response but yes 100% just find the .cia file for minecraft 3ds edition through *insert totally legal method here* and install it through fbi.

Nintendo: The 3DS is too weak for GBA emulation. Also, the ambassador program comes with some GBA titles.
Not to mention gba emotion works pretty well on it too lol

Thanks! And to answer your question used a hombrew app called NDS Forwarder Generator. You can get find the github in the description. And it just takes the .nds file and basically makes a short cut of it.

this is my first time gonna homebrew a nintendo handheld, i ordered a gamestop refurbished new 2ds xl and a 128 gb sd card, if i wanted to start. Do I just pop in my sd card to my PC? and then put it back in my 2ds xl?

Is there a Caveat or drawback to modding your 3ds? I love my 3ds and I have bought a bunch from the eshop which I want to keep. Now that the eshop is closing, I've been afraid of modding my 3ds and loosing access to my DLC's I bought and stuff. But this stuff looks really cool. COuld you lay out the Pros and Cons of homebrewing your 3ds, plsese?
The only real drawback is bricking your 3DS, but if you do things right and backup, then it'll be fine. A little late, but just putting this out there, lel
This is really challenging to pay attention to with the background music volume.... You might want to check up on side chain compression (lowers music volume as vocal track kicks in, responds to vocal volume in realtime too)

Do the downloaded Pokémon games work exactly like the cartridge versions? Like can you trade, battle online, and use Pokémon bank normally? Also does it glitch/freeze at all, or run smoothly?
Yes they work exactly like the cartridge versions and dont glitch or freeze. For the gen 4 and 5 games, I don't believe you can use pokemon bank / transporter (i havent tested this) but I know you can trade and battle with other gen 5 games (this i have tested). As for gen 6 and 7, you can use pokemon bank, as well as battle and trade as if it was a legit digital copy. Same with the gen 1 and 2 virtual console titles. Since the gen 1 and 2 virtual console games have official support with bank, they work. (So no gen 3 bank support unfortunately.)

oh and dude in the pksm you acually get pokemon from the pokemon bank but from only certaint gens and not the newer ones and the transfer them to your saved prokemon files and and get from diffrent reagions too
I had a jailbroken new 2ds xl but its unfortunately. well. broken! dunno how but I fucked up the bottom screen to where it was unresponsive lol. hoping to get a new one soon to do this again!
Did you clean the edges of the bottom screen? You'd be surprised how much dust gets stuck there. Shine a bright light on it and clean with a damp cloth
I had tomodachi life, new leaf and like so many themes on my 3ds and then.. It got water damage and the motherboard was permenantly damaged :( but I’m getting a new one! rest in piece my money

okay look so at 11:14 you talk about how the genesis titles aren't like the official virtual console titles and are run from an emulator... but like fam what do you think virtual console titles are?? all of the virtual console titles except for GBA are emulated, they're just using nintendo's official emulators, GBA is the only one that runs natively. That's why you can have save states and stuff on the non-gba ones, that's a product of emulation
other than that really nice video, learned about some new romhacks patches & ports to try out, I always appreciate that
oh also you mentioned worried about having to take your sd card out to put stuff on it, you should get FTPD which will let you manages files over wifi

Supposedly you can, the "official" guide has that version into account and it is still possible. The only change that happened between 1.15 and 1.16 is that one method has been patched, but there is still another to do it, so you can still mod it
For anyone that is into mario games, there is a modded port of super mario 64 with some better camera control, though it may only be for the new 3ds series, I am not sure.

I had an issue when trying to hack my 3ds xl. I ha almost completed the process after having cleaned up files I nolonger needed I had downloaded some additional files per 3dshacks and tried to put them in certain folders and it turned out there was no room left on the ad card. I attempted to copy all the files onto a bigger DS card that was formatted to fat32 but it wouldn't boot in the 3ds however the original card worked fine. I was hoping to complete the whole process. Any suggestions. Also if possible led like to make the conversation private. Hope you might be able to help. Thanks.
Heyo I modded my (old model) 2DS last night to get CTGP-7 but it's become an insane gateway to all 3DS Modding has to offer. Not sure how to use the NDS Forwarder tool you showcased here as I installed it to my 2DS earlier today. Was wondering if you could let me know if it mattered where I dump my nds files to on the SD Card and if I can just have the CIA files go into my "cias" folder to use with FBI
I think the CIAs can stay in that folder.
The Nds forwarder works with NDS files. so you'll need Twillight menu or some other way to emulate them. And those you can't download through the 3ds itself. You'll need to load them through the SD card the old fashioned way.
What I did was made a folder in the root of my sd card for nds roms do maybe try that!
That means a ds cannot emulate it's self if a 3ds is not powerful enough
I got a New 2DS for Christmas and I was wondering about modding it, I've always wanted to play some old Pokémon games like Emerald, Soulsilver or Platinum, but I don't know if I need the original cartridge from each game or if I can mod them into my system.

I use an app on my pc to basically make the gba rom into a 3ds gba virtual console. I'll try going into more detail in a future video

I would mod a 3ds but im afraid the hinges wont last. It was an issue for the original 3ds way back when for me. Since then i've used a 2ds.
Anyone got any feedback about the hinges on the newer 3ds models?
I personally haven't had any issues with the hinges. The only issue I've had with hinges is on my original fat ds back from the olden days lol. Nintendo has gotten their hinges down to a science but obviously still don't be rough with them.

When you download a game from a cartridge, does the save file stay or do you have to start over again?
For ds games, the save file doesn't carry over but you can move the save file (the .sav) manually over if you want to move your progress. For 3ds games im not sure but I bet there's a way.
