Byron Leftwich with the Jags: 24-20 as a starter 8-3 in 2005 51 TD-36 INT 58.7 comp% Given that the Jags had a good run of success from 2003-2007, Byron’s time in Jacksonville certainly wasn’t all bad.
@@johnmorales6281 lol from 2003 to 2006 he was sacked 76 times he played 46 games in those 4 years he was getting hit cleanly almost twice a game not to mention late hits or the hits that were not accounted for. His Last year with Jacksonville he only played 6 games so the first 3yrs he was getting blasted 🤣 not a great offensive line bro....sorry
@0:43, This was vintage Leftwich. He wasn't usually a soft-touch passer, but he threw laser medium-length passes that could thread the needle. He was a lot like Brady style-wise.
I think his arm was much stronger than Bradys. I think he's more like a McNair and not because of their race like most people make comparisons because of.
I love the quick shots they are showing when the Jags played against the Patriots.Ty Law on a podcast with Terrell Owens said Jimmy Smith was one of the toughest WRs he had to deal with during his playing days he had everything you needed size 6-2 205 speed 4.37.
I wished that he and Matt Jones could have developed a connection while in their playing days in Jacksonville they would have been one of the most explosive QB/WR combos of their era.Jones had everything you needed as a WR size 6'6 230 speed 4.35 I would have put them in the same sentence as Culpepper to Moss.

Leftwich played in the wrong Era. He would have done better in the old days where pocket passers were the only viable QBs, with the new rules the meta required greater mobility from the position
@troylee4196 he came in 2003 and although you had guys like Peyton and Brady dominating as pocket passers, even they had pretty good footwork in the pocket, and durability. Leftwich had Kerry Collins lack of mobility but without his durability. Plus the Jags weren't managed all that well

Such a good qb, just never had line to block for him
My only issue with him was his consistency...I liked byron and was sad to see him go
Watching him play at Marshall was amazing.
@@johnmorales6281 hard to be consistent with the defense in your face
@@TheUndertakerVII thats the best line the jags had since the 90s...with 3 Chris Noele, Manuwai, Meester, Khalif Barnes as the staples of the line

Jimmy Smith was Mr Reliable he was a really good receiver. That was his favorite target
The Jags have not had a legit deep threat since Smith hung up his cleets.
@@dwightlove3704 Ain’t that the damn truth. Look at all the receivers they have drafted and free agency. No one really stands out
I love his old-school, super long throwing motion.
That was his downfall
Loved this guy at Marshall he had everything you would want as a QB 6'6 240 CANNON ARM and he played in a obvious pass happy offense.

Jimmy smith was his top target and I remember him doing really well with the Jags until he got hurt
Tom brady's future offensive coordinator, and he played brady in a playoff game
Byron Leftwich is a great quarterback who loves to throw deep passes in the air and a great pocket passer.
One helluva qb! Dude could sling it!
Underrated arm fs
Every time I'm like why isn't he a leftie
Your back good video

Jags passed on big ben for him and I dont regret it, both woulda never made it with that o line. Its still bad almost 20 yrs later
Well leftwich was drafted in 2003 and ben 2004
the windup
Cannon. Reminded me alot of McNair and not bc of their race

Why does film from the mid 2000’s look like 1972?

Would have been waaayyy better without that enormous wind up
i could've sworn he was left handed
Haha me too. It must be the name.
I thought he was to. We all can’t be tripping
So a completed pass is a highlight?
Uh yea depending on what happens during that play
