- 2001 was the first year of the legendary Patriots dynasty that spanned 20 seasons
Brady threw for 2,843 yards and 18 touchdowns during the regular season
Fun Fact: Tom Brady ran for 216 yards in 2001, one of only four times that he’s picked up more than 200 yards on the ground in a season
I was 12 years old in 2001 and now I'm about to turn 34. Brady's longevity is mind-blowing
Dude me too wish I could go back in to the past
I love how the first play is Bledsoe getting annihilated
Yesteryears games are nasty. That hit today would've had 2 ejections.
I guess "The backup quarterback" right? And so it began....
Brady has had entirely different teams that he won titles with. Troy Brown was forever ago. Then moss, welker, Edelman, amendola, gronkowski, Hernandez. What a crazy career.
You could tell looking at these throws he had the talent
A journey begins with a single pass... 20 plus years later and he's still at it!
I met Tom Brady in Fanueil Hall in Boston when I was a sophomore in HS. Just to see him continue to be great is amazing
i mean really -- is there a better sports story?
They said Brady dinked and dunked but his first start against the chargers he was throwing it down the field lol
I have been watching pats for years, but yes thats a myth, he just got older so he had to work smarter, but back then when he was younger, his arm strength was crazy, he had slingshots and bullets, and he moved faster laterally to me, and could run faster, he even knew how to actually catch properly here, unlike in the eagles super bowl
His first start was against the colts
This is one of the NFL's greatest what ifs. I think if bledsoe stayed healthy, Tom brady wouldve never been known to the world as he is now. Great vid man, love these!
Agreed.
Maybe not. Apparently though he was fantastic in practice..I think the following season it was at least on the table he would be the starter. Who knows though. Same goes for Kurt Warner when Trent Green got hurt..then ironically Marc Bulger when Warner went down. Sometimes an injury can just give them that opportunity they need
@@brooksorlando4881 Brock purdy
Wrong if you watch how he play in college you know he was already going to be great if Bledsoe wouldn’t have got injured there is still a chance he would have started because Bledsoe was actually sucking in most of his games and there is 90 percent chance Brady start for another team
@@bangbangninergang5133 Yep, that's another one lol
The biggest dead beat back up of them all!!!
NOT!
Brady gets a "carried" narrative early in his career but these throws are insane. dude always had crazy arm strength and accuracy. Simply looking at box stats doesnt do him justice hes throwing rockets in this season
It was a different game and a conservative OC with the worst weapons in the league- they ran it on 1st and 2nd down and QB had to make a throw on 3rd and 6 + for ex. Stats started exploding when QBs started to throw on 1st down. 1st down is the easiest down to throw on. Brady in 2001 was easily a pro bowl level top 10 QB. Easily. By 2003 he was the best.
That was the thing. You were watching these throws in the god awful quality of tvs in the 90s and 2000s and Brady’s throwing rockets so fast the tv can’t keep up and you’re like WHERE the fuck did this man come from? You honestly couldn’t even believe your eyes. And as a 10yo fan who grew up being told to expect the patriots to be awful and to disappoint you..and to witness THIS. It was absurd. It never felt real.
Similar to brock purdy 😂😂😂😂
This was the year I went into first grade. Left college and he was still winning Super Bowls. Insane.
Troy Brown should have been a top-5 MVP candidate that year... He did everything to help this team win
Fantastic video and idea - thanks so much for uploading!
Brady endured heavy defenses, players that left, etc goat
Patriots’ defense did most of the work that season but without Brady, it’s easy to say they would’ve finished the season unsuccessfully. That much I believe in.
The commentator knew he was special. Said what he did on that last drive gave him goosebumps. That was a glimpse at greatness.
Troy Brown was everywhere damn
Bledsoe squared up and hit that guy.... looked stupid and on purpose.. I think he wanted to get hurt.
It was God Himself intervening 😂
Troy Brown was that guy!
Imagine if Drew Bledsoe just ran out of bounds
It was the beginning of the end of the league… for about 20 yrs
First year without Brady since I was in first grade now Im 30 ridiculous.
Man, Brady was slinging some bullets. So on target too, on some tough throws. He really loved Troy Brown who ALWAYS got open. People forget, though they had a good running game and excellent defense, Brady was a major reason they got to and won the SB.
That’s a season I’ll never forget. I was living in the SF Bay Area, and I remember how angry people were about the Raiders losing (I lived 16.2 miles from Oakland). I think since time has passed, they are MORE angry about the Tuck Rule game then they were then. But that was a magical game, with all the snow and legendary Vinatieri kicks.
Thanks for the upload. Quality is excellent! Well done 👍
RIP David Patten and Terry Glenn
I've been to three patriots games. The 1at two were horrible. The 3rd was Brady's 01' season. Just looking at him kkay was special. I already knew, Bledsoe would never take this team back. We'll never see another TB-12 again! We love you Brady. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏈
I was a 9 year old watching this when we got the Pats on CBS here in Jacksonville.
Every Super Bowl I always watch it at my co-workers nice backyard. As an immigrant and not knowing about whose who in nfl, I always thought they are replaying the previous years nfl because I always see Tom Brady playing
I was 9 years old when the Tom Brady and the patriots won there first Super Bowl and I will be 32 soon
It’s crazy that after the Mo Lewis hit Bledsoe was standing on the sideline for a bit with what ended up being a life threatening injury.
It seems like they didn't even care if bledsoe got hurt they wanted Brady thank God
This was real football before it became entertainment
Great intro…. Thank you sir.
Drew was better😡
I was a pats fan back then and he was not better, you're crazy, he was good though, but not that very good in the playoffs like brady
Drew is still better
@@TeddyBelcher4kultrawide can you tell me why?
He was him
