I have the zx14r 2012 , ive had 2 zx10r s , z1000, and my zx14 is king. Its so fun to ride , loves twisties, unreal thrill and rips front wheel up in the air still. This is a monster sport bike and does it all. I will never sell this bike. It has full yoshimura 4 into 1 exhaust, powercomander dynoed at 207 hp. I will never get bored of this bike. Its beautifull i can drink beers 🍻 and stare at it for hours . Kawasaki rules in my books.
I rode a hyabusa for 3 years, sold it, bought a 14r, put 1100 miles on it in a wk, and can straight up say the 14r is stronger all over the board, love this bike!!!!!
I bought a 2023 ZX14r as a left over a few months back and I am 6’4” 255 with some arthritis however spent decades riding mainly Hayabusas, and found the 14 to be everything described in this review. The comfort is amazing. The thought of a cruiser and upright riding position and the wind shock ultimately sent me the 14r direction. What a wonderful bike, far more comfortable than the Hayabusa, and honestly as quick without the noise. Solid performer.
this gentleman is absolutely accurate about a ZX-14. VERY comfortable, very FAST, do "anything", anytime, anywhere type, motorcycle. I chose the 14 over the hayabusa, back in '08 , purely based on the instant, first impression of more comfortable ergonomics the 14 gave me(6'2", 240lbs), just sitting on both of them, at a local dealership. Trust me when I say, since my purchase in 11/2008, my '09 14 has been pure joy, and 100% reliable! Exceptional braking!! I "was" considering selling her last year, to buy a 2017 ZX-10RR for the "technology" infused experience, but have since trashed that notion. What I ended up doing for my 58th BD(11/2017), bought a 2018 H-D CVO Street Glide, and KEPT my '09 ZX-14! A guy told me I have, "the best of both worlds". I like to believe that too. I am satisfied, 100! *Beautiful locations/scenery in this video, btw. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I never owned a bike or had a bike. But this Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R became my favorite bike to ride in the PS3 game Midnight Club Los Angeles Complete Edition. I won darn near ALL of my races WITH EAS AND SMOOTHNESS once I mastered the bike in the game. It became my favorite bike to use in the game because it was so smooth and powerful… and then it was THE ONLY VEHICLE I used and played with in the game! 😂
I've owned many bikes. The zx14 is by far my favorite!! I bought one last year, 2006 showroom condition, it had unbelievable lows miles, 4260 ish. The best part, $4500. Deal of a lifetime. I've doubled the miles since I had it over the summer.
In every angel KAWASAKI ZX14 looks gorgeous and heart touching, I think its 200 Bhp hyper bike, extremely comfortable to sit and ride for a long distance...
My race bike was an old R6, which had the suspension rebuilt by experts. It had the stock engine internals, and power commander and pipe, as per the rules. I love the way it handles and corners, the balance and feel of the thing. My road bike was a ZX14. The seat is big and the bike is comfy, it carries the wife or the kids well. It does 'handle' pretty good, once you get the right tyre on it, but it is fussy about the make & model of tyre, as well as the pressure + temperature and wear and so forth. The engine & transmission of the 14 is a thing of beauty. The clutch is a masterpiece. That is how a motorcycle clutch should feel and should work. The ZX10R (by comparison) has a clutch stolen from a KX125 MX bike... What I want is the handling and cornering of my race bike, the tight lines and balance, the light weight and easy feel, but I want the entire engine and drive-line from the 14 in it, complete with old-school crankshaft mass and rotational inertia, and the clutch that would work in a Kenworth or a White. I want the same torque as the 14, but as a flat line from 4k to 14k, with no dips or lumps, with the same flat delivery curve as the ZX10R, just much more of it. I want the room and comfort and style of the 14, the great pillion mount, and the handling and dynamics & cornering of my track bike, and I want the entire engine & driveline of the 14. ... and I want to be about 23 again, and much better looking.... and a bit richer would be nice as well.
Nice feedback and comments. Yeah, I think the tire/pressure thing is more a result of ride height. The rear likes to have some height in it. But you are right, you don't wanna run too low of tire pressure. Makes this Ninja feel lazy and sluggish. Would love to try a 55 profile rear and see what that feels like.
Adam, yeah, try going from a 50 to a 55, but also try completely different make & model of tyres. A Bridgestone BT14 is one thing. A Michelin Pilot Power is an entirely different thing. A Pirelli red nose superbike tyre is different again, and a Metzler is different again. I found the M5 Metzler suits it well. Most everything else makes it stand up & want to go straight.
Great comment. I'm curious whether you've ridden a ZX9R enough to form an opinion. That's what I'm currently riding, I'm thinking of a ZX14R as the ultimate tourer but I'm not sure I'm in need of the extra 50hp, said no one ever.
I owned a 9r for 10 years and a 14r for 3. The 9r is an awesome all-round bike. What you will notice the most if you change is the power and the weight. The 14r is much heavier and though people say it handles well (it does), it does not feel anywhere near as good as a well set up 9r. The 9r has outstanding cornering characteristics ... you point, it sticks, even over bumps. Surprisingly, the 14r does better u-turns because it has a tighter steering lock than most bikes (31 degrees). This really helps in tight maneuvering. With the 9r you can easily pick up the back end and move it if you want. Not so much the 14r. The 14r has much better fairing coverage. My lower legs and feet won't get wet in a misty rain. It makes high speed cruising more comfortable. The torque (not the horsepower) is the thing with the 14r. It PULLS at almost any revs. The first time I nailed the throttle, I accidently pulled a wheelie at near 130 mph hard shifting from 2nd the 3rd. It's quicker than a stock H2 sx. A small thing, but I really miss the storage under the back seat (there is none in the 14r) and the ease of getting at batteries and spark plugs etc. Home maintainance is possible on the 14r, but it takes 3 times as long as anything on the 9r. This is probably an old man complaint, but I much prefer carbs over fuel injection. Far less complicated and feels better on the road. On the other hand (if you live in a cold place) ... no carb ice!! The one consistent issue the 9r had. Gone. Such a relief. One last thing, the 14r has an enormous seat. If you take passengers, they will love it. It's big enough that I can wear a full backpack and there is still room for someone to comfortably sit on the back. I still love the 9r but they haven't made them for over 15 years. The 14r is a fantastic all-round bike, though I wish it didn't weigh as much as it does.
I brought my ZX14R 2016 a year ago and it's truly a time machine, and every time I ride this bike I have the biggest smile. To ride this bike on city streets you're getting away with redrum:)
This is my ultimate addition to my stable some day. 37 yrs experience riding gives me the confidence to ride it. I was fortunate enough to ride one for a few days and I was so impressed. Haven’t had the bank for one yet but ultimately one will be in my possession. It’s nice to be 54 with a clean record when talking to the insurance company😂
Thanks for the great segment. LOVE my 2014 ZX14R and still look forward to riding it every time I do. Hey Kawasaki, if you’re listening, update the 1970’s vintage LCD screen to a TFT display. Those of us who ride with smoked visor inserts - because the sun just keeps coming up - cannot read the characters on the old display.
I miss my 14, I had an ‘07 in Candy Plasma Blue, fit my 6’8” 300lbs frame comfortably, in fact for 6 of the 7 years I had her, she was my only transportation, and she could do just about everything, I even rode home a weeks worth of grocery shopping on board, she got me through fire school, my only gripe was that she didn’t have ABS, if you pushed the rear brake a bit too hard, the rear tire would lock right up, other than that, I put 70k miles on her and she never let me down once. Hopefully next year I can pick up a 2012 and up model, I miss riding.
Usually people who like the next model & next model are more concerned about the updates... Like some 70's Muscle cars or 60's Ferrari's...You love them for the beautiful snapshot in time that they are as opposed to what they will be tomorrow...have been in love with the looks since I saw a maroon ZX12 long ago...I want one before they change styling.. 20yrs from now it will be a titan...
I owned a 2013 Hayabusa for just over a year, and while I miss the massive amount of power it had, I don't miss that it was uncomfortable for my 6ft 6inch, 110 pound frame. I have owned a ZZR1100 in the past, which I loved, and which was a lot more comfortable than the Busa. I have never ridden a ZX14R, but I am tempted to try one out as a possible replacement to my BMW K1200LT?
I’m so tempted to get one. I never was interested in this class of motorcycle until I owned an FJR1300 and realized how good big inline fours really are. I have a Tiger 800 but don’t used it as an adventure bike, and this as a sport tourer could make a lot of sense. Rumor is the Hayabusa is actually getting a full redesign for 2021/22, but I fear Kawasaki will soon discontinue this bike as sales dwindle and the H2 line is expanded.
I own the exact same bike and I was thinking same thing, but would love to see the 2020 ZX14R SE with a Supercharger and that would be amazing and would beat the H2 too.
I had a 2013 ZX1400R that was had a few mods like exhaust, power commander and ECU modified to allow the bike to run faster. I believe it dynoed 180 rwhp before mods and 200 rwhp after. Great bike for what I used it for - top speed at Bonneville Salt Flats. The aerodynamics didn't appear to be as good as Suzuki's Hybusa or BMW'S S1000R to me at Bonneville, but 197 MPH isn't exactly walking. I don't think I would enough discipline to use it for regular street riding, God bless you if you do.
I got rid of the abs on my blackbird, i got an older model 14 ( no abs no power curve adjustment )nd i really don't want it on my next newer 14 , im a bit older now and only ride on sunny days , but with that being said iv'e been caught out in rain and it's still managable, you just have to know how to ride...the 14's can get you in trouble alot faster then most bikes.
Действительно выдающийся мотоцикл, ❤ четвертый месяц катаюсь и все больше влюбляюсь в zx14r. У меня стоят обычные тормоза, не представляю какой кайф с брембо❤
I actually love the old school gauges with the needles. I know that the trend now is for the TFT displays, but I think Kawasaki should keep the needles on the zx14. Leave the digital to the ZX10. (The same goes for Suzuki with the Busa and GSX-R)
Adam, you lucky, lucky man! This must have been a real treat. I love the engine in this bike, every bit as much as the 1340 powerhouse the 'Busa has. This class of "hyperbike" is just incredible fun. And they handle better than many might think! I do agree that perhaps it's time for a fresh cockpit and a little re-sculpting of the body work but the purchase price is still pretty nice! The horror of these machines lies in insuring them. That said, I still lust for one!
It's too bad they're gonna discontinue this line and the concours. I love my ZX14r. It's such a capable bike with a awesome engine. The platform would be a powerhouse if they updated with all the new tech bits out today.
I fully agree, I bought the 2020 version, absolutely love it, I had to buy it before it was too late, I've been riding the blackbird for years so it doesn't bother me about starting to look slightly old, to me it looks great, comfy and powerful.. The best of all worlds, being a big guy, it works perfect for me.. 😀
@@snakeman9902 Hey Snakeman, our paths cross again. I finally passed my test after having to resit due to the DVLA failing to update my licence twenty years ago. I've upped the deposit on the ZZR 1400 2020, but the solicitor is still dragging her heals regarding finalising my late father's estate. I've been out on the Tiger 1050 sport a couple of times, both times the weather turned wintery and wet ( Scotland). Something askew with the set up? Could be just tyre pressures but it seems reluctant to turn in, which combined with the wintry conditions, didn't inspire confidence. When I had it MOT'd the front brakes were sticky, from a year of sitting, £200 for the fix, Ouch!! The dealer is ok with holding the ZZR, perhaps now with salt and wintry conditions I need to be patient. Will let you know my first impressions.
@@michaellilley6725 BROTHER, that is fantastic news well done, it pains me that you had to take the bike test again, not pleasant, but glad you passed, hopefully things will work out quickly for you and you get the beast sooner rather than later. I intend to go to sunny Scotland next summer or if the weather permits, next Spring, I did vicit on the Blackbird, beautiful sites. I've done over 1000k on the beat now... I can only say that she rides better and better, I have spent money on her and I only wish the wind. Screen was a little taller, I'm a. Tall bloke. So feel the wind at speed. However, I have spent money on her by having crash bungs fitted, phone holder and charger if I go distances and will be having a centre stand fitted next year, she is the best bike I've ever had more than happy and I'm sure you will feel the same, I can not wait for the update. Stay safe 👍
Great Video I have just brought a 2009 zzr1400(zx14 to our American Cousins) and I love it. Previously brought HONDA CBR600RR. CBR1100XX Super Blackbird. CBR1000RR.
I'm 6' , 210lbs and love this bike. The only thing I can say is a downfall is the motor is all one piece. Meaning if you have major engine trouble you have to replace everything.
It's sunset for most large displacement bikes including HD. 98% of two wheelers are low displacement under 250cc. I'm rocking a 2012 NC700X with about 46 bhp - if I punch it WOT yes it leaves me wanting 2x the power but these dayz I feel little need for straight line power and enjoy lean angle in the corners.
most people dont keep up on 14 styling,,theres not even that many out there,, i rarely see 14s,,my 2015 draws crowds all the time,,,it looks completely baddass,,,better than some bubbleboosa! so there!! lol.
Agreed! It's rare to see one in the wild and the general populace I encounter on mine are blown away by it. Just like I am every time I'm looking at it as I'm walking up to it ride it. :)
Totally agree with you guys. I'm running the 30th Anniversary Edition and talk about a conversation piece when I go places. Old, young, cruiser, sport, etc. everyone has something to say. I love this bike and it's hands down one the best bikes I've owned, and that's a lot... Fan boy since the ZX-11.
I have a 16 SE, the bike is phenomenal. The only gripe I have is that, in some form of mystical way, it forces me to go hard on the throttle so it drinks fuel like it is coming out of garden hose.
Be careful what you ask for in regards to updating the instrument panel and the body style because if you ask to update the price of the motorcycle may increase. Personally considering the caliber of this motorcycle the way it already is I feel that it's price is very very nice
you want comfort with the same motor buy a kawasaki concours the power band is more for low and middle rpm but trust me its a beast with a lot of comfort heated grip and ajustable windscreen its got it all
She is a bit old hat I have a 15 ZX14R LE, it is a top-tier bike it should be equipped like a top-tier bike IE, Cruise control heated grips keyless fob maybe even heat for that big ass seat and TPM like the Concourse.
205 hp and 122 ft-lb at the wheel if you wish to tune it. www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/zx14%20Stk%20vs%20final.gif And it's less expensive than the H2, H2SX.
Is this filmed in the Rockies? Reminds me a lot of Colorado, hard to believe this beast has been in production for 10 years, just like it's rival the Busa a legend in its own time
What you have is a long distance hyper sport bike. This isn't made for the want to be racers out there. This machine is for those that don't want to be on a cruise but want to ride for long distances. This machine gets respect from all types of riders. And I think a lot of that comes from the type of riders that it attracts. For the most part it is riders that a lot more mature and don't care about full throttle wheelie stupidity.
The only bike more comfortable then the ZX with out sacrificing too much performance is it fat sister the Concours both are great bikes. But the ZX is a rocket.
Riders Domain, How Big of Basketball or Football Star ? I'm 6'08", weight working on at 348 lbs now like a lot of guy's out here suffer from DUNLAP debase or referred too as front porch syndrome. Meaning I am trying to loose the gut. Love this Kawasaki ZX 14 R looks.
I feel the display is due for an upgrade possibly even the tach and mph. Maybe go LCD like Suzuki did or like an aprillia. Liter bikes now come with a ton of bells and whistles and look sharp time for kawi to update the zx14r. She is still a beauty but needs a makeover.
Adam Waheed Lol. I was cracking a joke. Funny enough, I have. I rode a BMW K1300S down a twisty gravel road in the NC mountains. That was a crazy 12 miles.
Beauty is in the ye of the beholder etc. Personally I prefer the looks of the 'Busa, probably why I have owned 5 of them...however, I am now giving serious consideration to owning a ZZR1400 (as they are known here in the UK).
I have the zx14r 2012 , ive had 2 zx10r s , z1000, and my zx14 is king. Its so fun to ride , loves twisties, unreal thrill and rips front wheel up in the air still. Down to earth review. Obviously great bike and great dude.
Love my 16 zx14r se. The only other bike I could see myself owning is the h2 sx
Funny - that is what Tyson Cott said above!
Riders Domain didn't even see that lol

I don't think I would enough discipline to use it for regular street riding, God bless you if you do.
Awesome vid on an equally awesome bike...and the scenery, wow!! Gotta love those high altitude lakes, beautiful.
Glad you liked it. Yeah, awesome bike, awesome scenery - life is good.
I got rid of the abs on my blackbird, i got an older model 14 ( no abs no power curve adjustment )nd i really don't want it on my next newer 14 , im a bit older now and only ride on sunny days , but with that being said iv'e been caught out in rain and it's still managable, you just have to know how to ride...the 14's can get you in trouble alot faster then most bikes.
im 5'2 and love this bike
Действительно выдающийся мотоцикл, ❤ четвертый месяц катаюсь и все больше влюбляюсь в zx14r. У меня стоят обычные тормоза, не представляю какой кайф с брембо❤
Great review, Adam (as always)! Absolutely on point. :)
I actually love the old school gauges with the needles. I know that the trend now is for the TFT displays, but I think Kawasaki should keep the needles on the zx14. Leave the digital to the ZX10. (The same goes for Suzuki with the Busa and GSX-R)
Just traded the 2014 Concourse in for a left over 17 ZX......"I Like-a` alot"......and what an easy transition.
I have a 2011 C14 and I have been thinking the same thing...
Love love love my 2016 SE 14R!!! but once its paid off an H2 SX will be sitting right next to it!
Not a bad plan!
Great review Adam!
Dated? That would be the Hyabusa. This thing still looks awesome to me.
Great review of a great bike. Love to have one along with my FJR
Previously brought HONDA
CBR600RR.
This channel slept on
most people dont keep up on 14 styling,,theres not even that many out there,, i rarely see 14s,,my 2015 draws crowds all the time,,,it looks completely baddass,,,better than some bubbleboosa! so there!! lol.
Agreed! It's rare to see one in the wild and the general populace I encounter on mine are blown away by it. Just like I am every time I'm looking at it as I'm walking up to it ride it. :)
Totally agree...stop and stare !
Great review , i love my 2008 model.
I don't know if id say concourse comfortable, but it is pretty comfy.
I don't have one yet but for me it's by far the best styled bike on the planet and that includes the h2.
What a beautiful machine! I sold my cbr1000rr and got a 2006 zx14 one and only owner with 9,800 miles and mannn I'm loving it 💪😎
This and the 'Busa are addictive machines. No other bike delivers such turbine like power delivery, coupled with smoothness that defies belief....
I have a 16 SE, the bike is phenomenal. The only gripe I have is that, in some form of mystical way, it forces me to go hard on the throttle so it drinks fuel like it is coming out of garden hose.
Great review, can't wait to ride one!
most comfortable bike I ever sat on at the "show"! Wish they would make a 700cc 2 cylinder version! (oh, with a cross-plane crankshaft!)
Great review thanks 👍
Be careful what you ask for in regards to updating the instrument panel and the body style because if you ask to update the price of the motorcycle may increase. Personally considering the caliber of this motorcycle the way it already is I feel that it's price is very very nice
Great review!
i want a new bike..been looking at everything in the sporttouring family....but ,i cant get past the 580lbs!
brianmathew09 Most all the sport tourers are above 500 lbs
I loved this bike but the Ninja H2 SX SE won me over had everything this bike was missing.
Where did you go to ride his bike
1:28 Thats what she said
you want comfort with the same motor buy a kawasaki concours the power band is more for low and middle rpm but trust me its a beast with a lot of comfort heated grip and ajustable windscreen its got it all
She is a bit old hat I have a 15 ZX14R LE, it is a top-tier bike it should be equipped like a top-tier bike IE, Cruise control heated grips keyless fob maybe even heat for that big ass seat and TPM like the Concourse.
Patty jay well said! Cruise control is a must!
@@Sousousou200 Dont understand why anyone wants cruise control. I have never used it in the car let alone on a bike.
205 hp and 122 ft-lb at the wheel if you wish to tune it.
www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/zx14%20Stk%20vs%20final.gif
And it's less expensive than the H2, H2SX.
I’m going to take deliver of a 2018 tomorrow morning in exchange of my hayabusa 😬👍
The busa fanboys will hate you 4 that, now that you have it how do you feel about it?
I will never go back.. kawa is so confortable and easy to drive. I love my new bike!
almost a 180 hp on the rear tire..? it got way more than that..
I love the new wheels
Is this a good beginner bike ?
180hp? Is it broken? My 2013 has 212hp at the wheel. I only changed pipes and air filter.
No...
In low power mode maybe?
My 2014 has 220hp don’t know what this dude is talking about
Is this filmed in the Rockies? Reminds me a lot of Colorado, hard to believe this beast has been in production for 10 years, just like it's rival the Busa a legend in its own time
What you have is a long distance hyper sport bike. This isn't made for the want to be racers out there. This machine is for those that don't want to be on a cruise but want to ride for long distances. This machine gets respect from all types of riders. And I think a lot of that comes from the type of riders that it attracts. For the most part it is riders that a lot more mature and don't care about full throttle wheelie stupidity.
You've got beautiful landscapes out there, what state is this? (I'm from France)
Its look like mothership
Take it on MC Commute . .
Nice bike..
I'm 5-8, can it be lowered?
no...impossible
I am 5 5 and ride one,had a Super Blackbird for 8 years.
Why are you worried about being 5ft 8?.
You can fit lower pegs, mate, that would help a lot 🤗
The only bike more comfortable then the ZX with out sacrificing too much performance is it fat sister the Concours both are great bikes. But the ZX is a rocket.
Riders Domain,
How Big of Basketball or Football Star ? I'm 6'08", weight working on at 348 lbs now like a lot of guy's out here suffer from DUNLAP debase or referred too as front porch syndrome. Meaning I am trying to loose the gut.
Love this Kawasaki ZX 14 R looks.
I can't tell if you are joking or being serious?
The classic comparision:
This kawa or the busa...?
14r any day, I guess that’s why I’m here watching this...
Looking for a quiet bike
Give her the beans!!
Wow! If it did that to your hair, then it must really be awesome!!
I want one
650 in the building.
Another Kawasaki advertisers to bad never talks about the downside.
Ps. H2 from point A to point B I guess is a better choice ;)
Rey Eroc I honestly don't see a down side to this bike other than it sucks move around a parking lot
I feel the display is due for an upgrade possibly even the tach and mph. Maybe go LCD like Suzuki did or like an aprillia. Liter bikes now come with a ton of bells and whistles and look sharp time for kawi to update the zx14r. She is still a beauty but needs a makeover.
huge but elegant 💚🖤
gotta disagree about the styling. Bike is beautiful, especially in this day and age where everything has to look like something from outerspace.
Bella
This guy is unnecessarily awkward, its funny
C'est Kawa. J'ai un 2010.
Zx15 is coming supercharged I heard that's why it's discontinued for 18
The ZX-14R isn't discontinued for 2018.
I hope the rear tire last longer than my 2011. I didn't make it to 3000 miles. Yes I have a video. Click Thots on ZX14
kawi life zx14 cruise middle🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🐲🐲🐲🐲🐲
Did this guy really mention riding the ZX14R on a fire road? Lol
Sam Lyles Yes. That would be an interesting and perhaps short journey.
This review is spot on.
Yeah I said it - have you never ridden a hypersport bike down a dirt road?!
Adam Waheed Lol. I was cracking a joke. Funny enough, I have. I rode a BMW K1300S down a twisty gravel road in the NC mountains. That was a crazy 12 miles.
Sweet man - fun, huh? These long wheelbase bikes like the 14R and Haybabusa make things easy for gravel slides, haha.
This is the perfect bike for large americans. Enough horsepower to move the lard
For G-D’s sake man, get a haircut!
But it’s sooooo ugly... I’m gonna go ride one and see how I like it.
Beauty is in the ye of the beholder etc. Personally I prefer the looks of the 'Busa, probably why I have owned 5 of them...however, I am now giving serious consideration to owning a ZZR1400 (as they are known here in the UK).
Dated?? You are out of your mind. This will never look "dated".
Dose this guy really know what he’s talking about 180 hp what hmmmm lmao.
Sorry can’t stand the presenter and his awful hair
Fair enough - can't make everyone happy.
It's called "helmet head". Get some! :)
I fuck with it
