I don't think it is the shooter's fault? I could be wrong. Ace mod has advanced ballistics, meaning wind has an effect on the shooter's bullets. When shooting at the second target, the direction of the bullet is obviously not the same as the crosshair. So it is proven that the gun isn't as accurate. However the shooter should have aim higher, considering you should be aiming for center mass not the legs. I don't think shooting at a moving target at such a range is a wise choice either. There is a possibility that the shooter isn't close enough that the targets are out of range. The shooter is using Noreen ULR, its maximum effective range is 2000 yards, pretty much one of the best anti-material rifles. If the targets are out of range, it isn't because of the shooter's aiming then. But another thing though, that's a .50 cal bullet. How on earth is that soldier's leg still attached to his body??? Honestly, the shooter shouldn't retreat at all. There is no way the targets being able to shoot back with normal rifles(5.56 mm or 7.62 mm). The shooter had decent cover as well.

Pretty much no zoom, but you don't really need magnification with those. Use a beefy .308 rifle, figure out the target's distance using the handy reticle, and pepper that fucker. Your typical ACOG optics are also designed to double as a range finder. The little cross bars that taper as they go down the post? Yeah, their width isn't arbitrary; it's the width of a man's shoulders at that range. Overlay the cross bar that fits the enemy's shoulder width, and fire. Get a mod that adds a 4x ACOG with the ACSS reticle, and you're gonna become super deadly, if you understand how to use it. The ACSS is a top contender for my favorite reticle. Higher magnification optics are nice to have in the recon role, as you can really hang back and still see the action (1,000+ meters), but I've found a 3-9x optic is the best (even IRL when I'm shooting), and stick to that optic and rifle. Really learn it, and you'll be hitting enemies out to 800m first shot. I still technically carry a range finder in Arma 3 as it's part of my laser painting binos, but I use them for observing enemy movements and of course painting targets for the fly boys to lock onto more than I use them for range finding.
@@Gottaculat He's already got a scope with mil marks on it. If you know how to use a Mil-dot (or other Mil marked) scope, it's easy to find ranges with it. The formula to calculate range in that scope is: Width or height of target (meters) X 1,000 divided by the mil size of the target in the reticle = range in meters. Generally in games the characters are almost always about 6 feet tall, so that generally works out to 1800/Mil reading = distance to target When you're getting started, it's helpful to keep a calculator and maybe a ballistics chart by your computer if you're using ACEmod... but after a while you've ranged your targets so many times you don't actually need to do the math.

I wonder how many keyboard warriors here have even played Arma 3. It's pretty clear this person is fairly new to playing the game. He might be running ACE3 advanced ballistics, but he's using all vanilla gear excluding the ballistics calculator (ATragMX), range card, weather measuring device (Kestral 4500NV), etc. in his inventory he doesn't utilize. I mean, he has a HuntIR monitor when he doesn't even have a weapon system that can fire 40mm projectiles like an under-slung M203 or M320. At these ranges, he's not really sniping anyway. He's acting more in a Squad Designated Marksman role. If he were running a better AI mod like VCOM alongside a Suppression mod, he'd be overrun in less than 10 minutes on his own. I guess my point is: loosen up. Yeah, it's not the greatest game-play on the internet, but it's certainly not the worst either. He's also using a terrible vanilla game optic based on the US Optics MR-10's very minimal MIL line reticle. At these mid range engagements, it's perfectly fine to creep on target with Kentucky windage. Using the reticle, you can easily estimate the range to be between 200 to 300 meters. But also, bear in mind the differences in elevation, which look to be 100-200m. There are a lot of variables he's overcoming that most FPS gamers never have to worry about. In Arma 3 with advanced ballistics, everything has an effect. The temperature and environmental factors affect your muzzle velocity and trajectory, the wind is dynamic and moves differently depending on the objects, terrain and altitude of the objective area. During an actual scout sniper mission in which the goal is a single cold bore shot on center mass, if done right, it might take 10-20 minutes just to do the calculations and set up that shot. And even when utilizing a weapon system you're really familiar with and after having done all the math, if you don't have a decent spotter monitoring the wind and calling out elevation and windage adjustments, it might still require more than one shot on target. As someone who's been playing the Arma series now for about a decade, I think he's doing just fine. He just needs to make sure to carry the Vector 21 Nite and link it to the MicroDAGR GPS if he wants to use the ATragMX and Kestral 4500NV to calculate longer range shots. The Dagger mod has an awesome tutorial on how everything works. It also has a much wider selection of long range optics with better reticles if anyone's interested.

Ok sniping but not much use of cover and stealth. Relying totally on not that intelligent AI who just standing there and waiting to be sniper. But Arma is great anyway.
So the bipod is basically useless imo, you reloaded after one shot a couple times, and didn't use the ranging feature, after one shot you should be able to figure out where they're ranged. ATL+scroll is how you range up and down easily. Alt+Right click is how you switch sights on a hybrid optic. If the rifle you're using is an auto, put it on auto and tap if you have too, because the last thing you want is to peak someone 20m away and you fire 2 shots before they run into a building. If you don't care to be cheesy then alt looking in 3rd person is a great way to either make yourself a smaller target, move around a wall while seeing over and being nearly invisible, or wanting to safely peak a window. You can double tap alt or use * on num pad to lock yourself into free look, moving like this takes a little getting used to but it's a really great advantage.
