  • In this video I test three of the popular grass growing products on the market today. I test Scotts EZ Seed, Hydro Mousse liquid lawn and, a grass seed mat roll. I tested them in both sunny and shady areas right next to each other so we can see which product works best. In addition to providing a review and recommendation I also show how to apply each product, how to prepare the area and how to maintain it in the first two weeks after the initial application.

    Great video. Loved how you gave the results early, the bottom line up front. But it would have been nice to include the date, location, and what type of seed - warm season or cold season grass. I'm just not picking. Excellent video.

    What is considered “expensive “ to you? Just curious if seeds you can use are actually cheaper than what we do in Florida. For example, I am using Argentine Bahia seed which is 70 dollars for one bag and I needed more than 3 bags for 3100 square feet. If I did sod it costs us at least 3,000 dollars for a small yard.

      Jeez that is expensive for sod.
      The Scotts Ez Seed is about $63 for a 20lb bag which Scotts claims will cover about 445sqft. But, that is really lawn repair and bare spots. They don't really sell it as a product for large areas. The other products I included in the review are marketed for large areas as well.

      @@Isitworthitreviews Thank you for letting me know. As I expected, the Argentine Bahia seeds are more expensive but not by much. Thank you! Yeah I wish I could have done sod but after building my own irrigation system, I was too broke to buy enough sod for 3100 square feet so I'm growing from seed but as you can imagine, with florida sun and watering 4 times every day, the weed explosion is unbelievable. I'll be fighting weeds for a few years before my grass looks good.

      @@hothmobile100 Scotts weed and feed is a pretty good product.. I use it 2X per year and my lawn looks significantly better than my neighbors who don't apply it..

    Did you use any biodegradable spikes to keep the mat down?

      Nope, nothing. Just water. The directions did not say to use spikes.

    Would it be better to use a spreader with the easy seed or just throwing by hand will suffice?

    • @durh_m
      @durh_m 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The spreader is just a more uniform method of spreading seed, you can definitely just use your hand. Just pay attention to the type of grass plus how much your putting in an area and you’ll be good to go!

      I think if you were doing a large area a spreader would be good (but wow that will be expensive).. for the smaller areas like in the video, just tossing by hand is fine.

      @@Isitworthitreviews moving into a “new” home on a corner lot where the previous owner did almost nothing to maintain a solid yard. So, yeah….definitely using my spreader for the front and back.
