    All of us at Winter Harbor Marina thank you guys for the wonderful praise! We really are proud of the work we do for our customers. It really doesn't matter what it is, whether it be the paint guys, the guys doing fiberglass, the mechanics, the metal fabricators, the guys doing electrical work, the guys moving boats, or even the work we do to keep our marina looking great. Tom (the owner) really finds it important that all of us to do the best work we possible can. Quality is very important to us. Thank you again. We're all really greatful to you and all of our customers and for this video.

      When you have people who take pride in their work, it gives them a good name, the company a good name and customers like Sheldon who would happily come back for repeat custom.

    Another Great job by Winter Harbor. Had our Cruisers and Regal boats stored and maintained by WH for 10 years. Couldn't ask for a better place and great people. Out of boating now, and really miss seeing Tom, John, Leslie, Noreen and the rest of the crew.

    I boat in the Puget Sound and Canada and Alaska. More Tollys up here in Washington State than probably anywhere else since this is where they were built. I have seen a couple that had the hull color different from the factory original but I agree with your choice. Hard to beat white. One owner I talked to did his in Navy Blue and it looked good but he did it in vinyls so he could easily change if he grew tired of it. 😊

    Hi Guys, we've been watching your episodes over the holidays, they are great! Anne and I have sailed a 37' sailboat for 15 years before selling our boat in 2017. We sailed in the Bahamas for three years, we are considering a motor yacht for live aboard full time, much like you have done. We would love to chat with you sometime about our plans. Happy New Year to you.

    WOW! They did a great job on C-Shel II. How did you find out about Winter Harbor Marina? Its hard to find people who genuinely care about taking care of boats down here in NYC/Long Island and my boat deserves some love this winter. I was thinking of bringing her down to a yard in the Chesapeake but I think I have to put these guys on my short list. How many locks did you need to pass through? While you were there did they do any engine service? Thanks for coming back on TH-cam.

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We did some research online and on Active Captain for boat yards good at fixing damaged fiberglass and painting. Winter Harbor stood out with a ton of good reviews and very pleased customers. There are about 22 locks between the Hudson and Brewerton NY. It's a nice trip, but be prepared to make the boat messy, the lock walls and lines are very dirty. We didn't get any engine work done, just cosmetic and running gear. Though we seen them repowering boats when we were there. I'm pretty sure their mechanics are first class. If you end up going, tell them C-Shel sent you. :D

    If you do not mind, I have what I hope is a simple question. My line of work allows me to work remotly however I do need solid internet access (I am in IT ). When not at a marina, how do you get internet access? Is it celular or satalite? Any special equipment needed? What are the costs? do you upload videos and such while under way, or do you have to wait till you are at the marinas?
    Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.
    Carl

    Was the damage just from the rub rail incident, or was there more damage? I have waxed and compounded numerous boats and it looked like that would have come out easily. Doesn't seem equitable to repaint the entire boat for that scuff mark unless there was more damage.

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it was the incident in Hopetown. There were gouges in the gelcoat and fiberglass about 20+ feet long down the STBD side. Along with other areas around the boat from the accident. Most yards that looked at it said it was a paint job. We were just following advise.

      Well you must realize that this is so far a hobby for us. We love creating videos, but doing an episode like this takes 20+ hours, not counting reviewing all the footage or finding music to use. We are not rich people, and we have to work to support this lifestyle. So that takes up most of our time, between all that we have boat maintenance to do, we have to cruise, and we need to get out and have some fun as well. We know channels who do this full time, for a career even, and they are still months behind. All that said, we do realize being in the moment so to speak is better for us and our viewers, so we've been trying to catch up. We've been trying ways to shorten the editing cycle. In this video you will even notice a canned drop in intro we will start using in all our videos. We have a goal that by the Fall we will only be a few months behind. (Crossing fingers) Thanks for following along, and we appreciate the question and comment. If you want more realtime content check out our Instagram or Facebook. Cheers Friend!
