Just watched a McDonald's foil video before your. When you said what you were doing, I thought about using the foil. Then you used foil. Guess we are thinking the same. I wished the foil would have looked better, it maybe would have been a cheaper alternative to the silver clay. Loved the video, headed down stairs to try this out right now. Thank you again.
That’s funny as soon as you used yellow I said with that gold though? You caught it! It’s still cute! Resin pieces are unique and every screw up is someone’s dream piece just remember that!
You always make the best videos showing us different ways of doing things…. They turned out beautifully and you are your worse own critic…happy crafting
Mr. Cooper, Sir, what a good and clever idea. Never having an original thought in my life I am going to for sure give making my own bezels a try. Thank you a thousand times.
Take little tiny scissors, dip the tips,of the scissors, in powder,or corn starch ,cut the mylar confetti into little pieces, the powder keeps the mylar,or foils from sticking
OMG! So I'm sitting here at my desk working on getting uv resin on to metal bands I'd put strips of vinyl into and watching this video. The next item on my desk to do was card up some bezels I'd made. Rings get cast aside and I grabbed a round bezel I'd made with gold mica. Just a tiny bit - makes it look like suspended gold. Using your technique in this video, this is what I did - 1 layer of uv resin and added some nail art foil in purple and cured. Thanks for that mirror trick! Worked a treat! Then I added two temporary tattoo butterflies and and another thin layer of uv. Next a layer of glitter in the resin and TADA! I just turned a $5 pendant that was mostly boring into an awesome $10 pendant! THANKS!!!
Loved this one! In the past, I've only allowed glitter to be used inside ornaments. A friend recently left a 15ft trail of gold glitter across my studio. It has helped me relax into mica and nail powders, chameleon flakes, and glitter in resin. Like cuts doing stained glass, sparkle face and resin go together. ps…my studio will never be the same 😂
You can definitely put foiling and micas right into a mold. Foil becomes a really cool, wrinkled lining, and micas look really cool, too. While glitters don't upset me, I *really* don't like working with them AT all. Messy! The only glitters I like are those gorgeous Marabu sparkling inks, like the unicorn ink. No mess, great sparkle. 😁 Well, look at that: the UV resin and foil didn't work! Good to know! I really appreciate this resin bezel idea, Daniel! Thank you for playing around with this for us!
Those are so cute!! You can try brushing the gel in the bottom and up the sides of the frame. Let it sit a minute for it to level then cure it. It will make a smooth bottom quickly and seal it up. You can take an old nail polish bottle and clean it out. Put black electrical tape around it and pour some of your UV resin in it to make the brushing easier.
This is a very cute idea. I wouldn’t have thought of it. In case you are wondering, sparkalaophobia is the fear of glitter. Hope you’re doing better with that now. You know the best way to conquer it right? Exposure to it little by little. I enjoy your videos!
Just saw this video and it reminded me of a technic I saw quite awhile back. You use some 3cm or 1/8in wide wire and twist it into unique shapes. If I knew where I would send you a pic of what I mean. Anyway as I said the possibilities of shapes and sizes are endless!
What a neat idea! Those would be cute for little photos too! The yellow flower one u put on a necklace is my fave too! ❤ Congratulations on ur 100th video!! 🍾🍻👍
Loved the idea of diy bezels. Thanks for thinking of it & sharing your techniques. Loved the glitter one especially. Brave of you to push through your glitterphobia. Congrats on your 100.
Call me crazy.. Could you pour in the bezels, then turn over the mold and make the insides? It will have that small gap from the silicone, but that could be a really cool effect, too! Also, in my experience, with those super thin jewelry molds, P.U. resin is tougher than epoxy or U.V. resin (most of them). Now you're filling it in with more resin, so it might not matter as much, but just throwing some info out there, for you to use as you wish. For example, Steve Mcdonald did a great video on cold casting with P.U. resin. Seems like a great technique for bezels.
I've done this. I xant post a pic here but I used the round one and then turned it over and did the inner circle. I even put a butterfly tattoo in the center. It fit snugly and I used uv to set it. It did not sit flat..that is to say the inner circle was thicker. I could have sanded it flat but I liked it as it was so yes. It's just a tight fit so don't over fill.
Congrats on the 100th episode! Your tutorials have really opened up a new medium to me. I have so many questions, so will soon be joining to take advantage of the Discord conversations. Now i have to figure out how to incorporate this medium into my art quilts...
