- Chris Grenier reviews the 2024 CAPiTA Mercury. The mercury as a platform is an absolute beast with the 156 wide being Chris' park board all season and the 158 wide being Chris' go to for cheese wedges and powder. Winter is right around the corner, so be sure to check out the CAPiTA Mercury before this snowboard season finally kicks off.

TECH STORY:
The Mercury will get you into and out of every possible situation. This award-winning series is renowned for all-terrain versatility, from powder and kickers to side hits and park laps.
The Mercury is designed for power when you want it and float when you need it. With this board, there's no need to check the weather report because it can handle it all. Featuring a paulownia and poplar Hover Core™, among many other technical attributes like Amplitex™ V-Tech Amplifiers, the Mercury's durability and ollie power reign supreme.
CAMBER: Resort V2-
This revolutionary all-terrain shape provides the best of both worlds. It has a raised camber platform through the inserts to retain high-speed edge hold through variable terrain, elevated contact points to land and float in powder, and Flat Kick tip and tail arcs for faster, more aggressive transitions.

Wow! You used words that I understand to explain everything! So helpful!
I’ve got the mercury 155 I’m 165 pounds size 9’s freakin awesome deck for all mountain all conditions I love it! Also the thing is bullet proof the base is fast and durable
Love to hear that!
Discovered Capita thanks to your Mothership tour. I need me a 160w some day.
My favourite Board after testing 9 boards this year. I bought and tried the Salomons Huck knife, Dancehaul, Assassin and Sick Stick, the Ride Shadowban, the Bataleon Wallie, and the Capitas Ultrafear camber and reverse, Scott Stevens Pro, and the Mercury. The Mercury is just so smooth and stable, grips well while being loose and not hooky at the same time. Thats all I wanna ride from now on. 10 points in every category. Mercury, I love you.
Love to hear that, such a fun board!
Wanted to really love it, but was softer than expected
I’m debating in this one or the auernaut or the kazuuuu, it’s so hard. I might go with this one
I started riding the Capita Mercury last season - I'm also on the 156W. It's my first Capita board, and I've ridden tons of the other brands. This thing is a friggin' game changer for me. Thanks for posting this Chris! By the way, I always thought you rode the Outsiders and the Indoor Survival?
Thanks for watching the review! I've been switching it up between a few different CAPiTA boards this past season - Chris
Just bought this year’s yesterday and rode the Mercury last year - FASTEST board I’ve ever ridden…hit 60mph and you’ll pass everyone.
It's the fastest board I've ridden too! They did some magic with that base.
They're making 'em fast in The Mothership factory!
AFAIK, They come with a factory stone grind now.
Me as well! My brother on the Burton Custom X is noticeably slower. And I don’t mean he has less skill but on the flatter slopes it is clear the Mercury has more glide.
As a fellow size 10er, I have never ridden a wide board. This review makes me want to try one out.
Check out our Group Chat episode with product engineer J-Stone, good banter about board width! Demo a wide board, you might really like one!
I’m 10.5/ 11 and never riden wide. Might need to try one
Why do you ride wide with a size 10 boot?
Hey 👋🏼 Thanks for the great review. You really helped me a lot to make the right choice. Would really appreciate if you help me with sizing.
I’m 182lbs, 5’9 and US9,5-10.
Another question. Will this board match with Nidecker bindings and Boots (Rifs)? Thanks a lot in advance
Nice review bro. Can you do a review of the Indoor Survival plz?

Here is the link to the indoor survival one i did last winter, love that board.
i did one on the indoor last year, i really like that board.... here is the link - chris th-cam.com/video/3hBF8P43l6Q/w-d-xo.html
great review - do you file your edges, or bevel them?
Really cool review ! Would be in to hearing some more, I saw you rode the navigator a bit last year, I’d be interested to hear how that compares to the mercury.
Thanks a lot! we have a review of the navigator coming out next month - Chris
Love my Mercury and DOA
Which one would you recommend as a first board? I'm like high intermediate, but just always been renting
@@japanmagicalshopper probably the mercury
Hi! I am using the Mercury 155, and finding it torsionally too stiff for my type of riding. Was wondering if you’d know if the indoor survival is softer torsionally? And if so, are both the 154 and 156 indoor survival torsionally softer than Mercury? Or just the 154? Thanks in advance!
What would I get if I’m 190 11.5 6,2 height …….im looking for all mountain
🔥🔥 review!!!
Thanks for tuning in!
What are ypur thoughts on the Mega Merc?
Interested to hear this too!
Ive actually never ridden the mega merc. It looks like a beauty of a board tho - Chris
The mega absolute rips
@@mw3atmoseslake no doubt...getting the 158W...I need a twin (ish) free ride pow/crud buster board, that can also rail carves, and POP (obviously), the mega merc seems to be it, trying to replace the BSOD with a twin basically
Great Review! I’m ordering a 2025 mercury. All mountain use , some park jumps/side hits, occasionally some fresh snow-pow ,not much of a jibber. I’m 6ft 165 lb size11 boots. Capita’s board finder suggests 161, isn’t that to much? I was oriented on 156w. What do you suggest? Cheers from Italy
The 161 and 156W have the same waist width of 26.1 so it comes down to personal preference of having the stability of a 161 or more nimble riding with the 156W! Chris rode a 156W in summer slush and jibs but sized up for winter pow days.
Currently riding a 22-23 ride algorythm, would this be a similar style?
I'm 165 lbs with boots 10. what's my size of this beautiful weapon? 157? For now I don't do freestyle but want to learn side hits and carve. Nice review!
157 is good.
I am your same stats. I ride a 2022 Mercury 155. East Coast. Everything that people say about this board has been accurate. I find longer boards to be too stiff for how I ride, but maybe you prefer a longer stiffer board for very high speed.
Did you find it washy at all at slow speeds, does it lay a trench?
Hi, I bought 161 mercury for 24/25 season. Can you recommend a boot for the board?
We’d recommend getting the boots that best fit your feet! Find the proper boot fit at a proper snowboard shop where you can try on a variety of boots from a variety of brands
@TheBombHole medium stif( 5-6) , stif (7-8-9) I just want to learn which one can be more fit with my board
Hi Chris did you have a chance to compare it to the mega merc…thoughts?
ive actually never ridden a mega merc- chris
The base graphic somewhat reminds me of the old j lynn lib
Hey dude!
I’m an intermediate/advanced rider that’s never in the park. Love carving and free ride. Really want something that can do well in powder too.
Prefer a board to still be somewhat playful however.
Trying to choose between the mercury or Black snowboard of death.
Any advice?
Either board is too stiff for what you're describing. They're not playful.
Mercury is the best board I’ve ridden. It is a bit delicate. I’ve broken 2/3.
i fully agree. best board but It is indeed delicate. I caved in my first one.
Would a 157 not fit me right if I have a 11.5 boot/6'2/185lbs? Got a steal of a deal on one
We’d recommend going for the wide option considering your boot size! Nobody likes “booting out” when you go to carve turns
Dope Review. did you get a chance to ride the Aeronaut?
i havent spent much time on that board, but i really love the graphic - Chris
Mercury or Burton Custom as an all mountain board?
Love the product talk and you doing reviews. But being in the industry how do you intend on remaining unbiased? Or will this just be an every now and again thing where you just talk about the board you currently ride? Thanks!
I am just doing a a board or two a year, I told them that if i like the board, ill do a review, if i dont like it I wont review it. It will always be biased because i am supported by capita, however, I am being authentic with my experience on the board, because i only review the boards that i choose to ride and that i enjoy riding, my intention is to provide my honest feedback on the board to help someone thinking of buying a new board- Chris
@@TheBombHole makes sense, thanks!
I’m 6,0, 170 9.5 foot, I’m stuck between the 165w and the 155. I hear I should probably get the 155. Will there be any advantage of getting the 165w over the 155 with this board or should I just stick with getting the 155.
I am about you’re specs I’m 175 lbs and went with the 156w
An opinion I can trust.
Was this one tough for riding switch? I know they call it a directional, but I've also heard it more of a directional twin
I own the Merc and the MegaMerc. Both awesome but you really can't beat that Original. D'yo got Force binders on yours or what?
165lbs no gear, 9.5 boot, 5'10", no park just all mtn for one board. I'm thinking the '57 vs '55.....sound about right?
Need aeronaut review
Thinking of switching from super doa to this in a 58w
Both great choices, to me, the super DOA feels to me like it has a more aggressive sidecut which is incredible for ripping turns, but with the aggressive sidecut, i personally dont like as much for jumping and stuff cause its not as predictable. The 158W merc is great for attacking the Mountains, jumps and riding pow.
@@TheBombHole which one is better for jibs between the two?
Would anyone recommend this board for a beginner? If it was offered at a price you couldn’t refuse.
Sure go for it! It wont protect you and will try to kill you, so treat it with respect and progress
@sqwillis1458did you get the Mercury ? Have you ridden it as a beginner?
What capita deck you ride on steel
i didnt do a ton of jibbing last season, so it was the Merc 156W cause i mainly just rode park. I am gonna test out some more boards this year and try to find a jib specific one- Chris
Hey Chris! My weight is around 210 and I’m 6’0 tall. Based on the board specs, I should get the 160W, but I’m thinking in getting the 158W for more playfulness and since I’m from Brasil and only ride around 10 days per year, I like to spend some time in the park. Do you think the 158W will be too small for me?
You’ll be fine. If you want stiffer go 160
Wax that base brother!!!
