It's a mid flexing, mostly camber board with rocker nose and tail, that has a small setback stance and a directional shape. Definitely worth a look if you are searching for one board to ride everything. It does really well on hardpacked snow, and still floats nicely in deep snow.

Just road this board today! From a beginner-intermediate perspective. Amazing board! If you’re looking at this board and you’ve been riding a softer board this is gonna feel way meatier torsionally you’ll find that you might have to consciously engage your heel and toe when first riding this board. But very manageable I went from a hard rocker board to this so I did have some struggles as far as when this board got to speed you really have to bend your knees and commit to stoping or scrubbing speed off. But very fast and very stable feeling board I personally loved it and look forward to progressing on this board. If you’re thinking about it get it.

Thanks for such an honest review. The Mercury has been on my radar for a year or so. A couple of other reviewers commented that its a pretty stiff/aggressive board. I already have a Burton Free Thinker. It's pretty stiff, but I quite like it. However, you do have to keep your wits about you at low speed and have found trying to make tighter turns 'off piste' not so easy. Your description/experience with the Mercury makes it sound like a board I would really enjoy. I tried to hunt one down in Australia a few months ago, but they had sold out. I will be in Whistler within the next month, I'll have to check one out. I can't complain though, I'm brining a Korua Shapes Tranny Finder to try out. It's also said to be a good 'all rounder', but it is a much more directional shape. In any case, please keep the reviews coming. Great work!
Thanks! Yeah it sold out quickly in Australia, so I had to get one over here, they seem to sell out quick, but I guess that is a good thing for a board. I think that the Mercury should be a bit easier to get tight turns at slower speeds a bit easier than the Free Thinker, just because it isn't full camber and has a bit more forgiveness from the rocker.

Hola ! I’m glad to hear at you like it the Mercury ! Like we talk the last time ! ( azymulator ) I got this two boards too ! Last year I ride the Mercury 155 I’m 75 kg but I felt the side cut I little bit too short and after 2 feet snow needs more float ! That’s why I get the 157 this year ! Is in plastic waiting for the perfect day to rip ! By the time I’m riding Bataleon ( Goliath , Evil twin , party way by now ) this last board party wave from Bataleon you got to review this one as a second quiver board ! Is super super fun to ride , carving ,,,o got this one on 151 but if you ride bigger mountains like BC May need 154 , I have not testing this board in pow ! May be a fun pow board for the dimensions side cut radius 9.0 and 28 cm wide , wow !!! And that wide nose open de pow 💥, TBT tech make it feel like lose and not so gripi like the Warpig at the same size ! That also ride it for 3 days ......! Check this deck ! Bataleon party wave you will love it ! It’s a board that always has to be in the back sit of your car just in case !!! ❤️
Great riding, killer vid, and great review. I'm on my second season with my 2020 Mercury and I love it as well. FWIW- the recommended stance set up on this board is 23" (on the 159). I'm 6'3" 175lbs and I'm used to riding a tighter, surfier stance at 22.5" +18/+3 . It took some time to find where I like my set up, but I've ended up with my front foot inside of the RECO holes with my bindings pushed forward, and my back foot binding pretty centered in the RECO holes. This leaves me set back a little with a 22.75 stance with no option to set back further for deeper days, but that hasn't bothered me at all. This board floats great without needing a different set back stance for pow. I find it turns quicker with my front foot inside of RECO- but everybody's different... Also I totally agree- this board is a rocket ship. I don't know what magic tech Capita has put in this base but it is so damn fast.
I also ride a Capita 2020 NeoSlasher Split and I'm super crazy about that board. The middle holes on front/back set up for a 22.5" stance (on the 161) and it surfs and carves like a dream.

Thanks! I have spent most of the time on the Mercury with my back foot on recommended, and the front foot one set of inserts narrower, which seems to work well for me most of the time. I just started riding it in the park more this season, and have moved the back binding closer than the recommended, not sure what the measurements are but it is much easier to move around now.
@@SnowboardRobot Nice. I agree- The Merc carves so well that I'm surprised more "all mountain carver" types aren't asking for a more centered hole options to accommodate a tighter stance. What am I supposed to do with all of these holes in front of the RECO stance- do people really ever ride this board with a 25" stance? I'm heading out for a couple turns today and I'm gonna try both feet inside of RECO and see how that works. FWIW- setting up inside of RECO is def closer to (or even inside of )a 22.5" stance. Have just over 5 days on mine. Super fast charger with lots of pop. I love it as a do everything board. Highly recommend!

when you do presses or butter does it feel ok to keep it for a time ? i'm sure that the board can gives theresponse pop out you need to take out from the press but does it allows you to stay on the nose or the tail ?

@@rubencalderon9512 I rode again yesterday, and it definitely takes more effort to hold a press, and it won't be up as high. I am sure that the rocker on the nose and tail help a little bit, but it is cancelled out by the stiffer flex.

Good review, I bought Mercury 159cm and have the same opinion. Great do it all (except rails) board for experienced riders who want to progress. Btw I tried board in powder on very high speeds - it floats/surfs good and jumps in powder are made easily and effectively due to good pop and a bit stiffer tail that absorbs bombs/energy pretty well

Nice video! I’m struggling with deciding what board to get. I’m 6’5” 230lbs and have a size 12 boot. So the struggle of finding a board that will serve me well is real haha. I’m a beginner and will mainly be riding parks but have friends that live in Colorado. So I want to get a board that can handle a little bit of everything well.
Thanks! The 161 Mercury would be a good choice, it will have enough width for your boots/weight. You could also look at the Mountain Twin th-cam.com/video/afWdk6Af6DU/w-d-xo.html in one of the bigger wide models, it is very similar in specs and how it rides to the Mercury. You will still be able to flex both boards without much effort, and they will have enough forgiveness with the rocker nose and tail to have fun in the park.

Love the review! Much better perspective after rising it for a month than just demoing it for a day. I was wondering, how does this stack up with the DOA?
Thanks! Overall I would say that it is quite a bit stiffer and more aggressive than the DOA, so it is way more stable at high speed. Drops and powder are much nicer on the Mercury, the stiffness of the tail makes things way easier. I haven't really done too much riding of the Mercury in the park, but I plant to this year and see what it is like - though if you were riding lots of park I would probably like the DOA more, being a bit softer and more forgiving is something I would want in a park board.

So I can't decide which board to choose. I'm thinking about Capita Mercury or Capita Asymulator or Rome Agent. Now I have Voelkl Wall Pro. I 'm looking for something a bit more flexible and playful but still with good edge hold. I will be using it Resort 70%, Park 20%, Backcountry 10% . Looking forward to hearing your opinion.

I'm a firmly intermediate rider, stick almost exclusively to groomers, love riding fast and carving trenches but not into park much bar the odd kicker.
Really considering the Mercury but just wondered how forgiving it is at low speed, and how agile it feels? I'd be coming from a Never Summer Ripsaw, which I enjoy riding at pace but is a chore at low speed or when navigating rutted out terrain with care. How would the Merc compare?

It sounds like the Mercury would be a good choice, it is definitely a fast board, but the rocker nose/tail do give it a bit of forgiveness in the park as well. If I don't really know how the conditions are going to be, then it is an easy choice for me to just take my Mercury.

Hey brother, great review. I've been snowboarding for 10 years and consider myself to be relatively advanced all-mountain, and intermediate in the park. I'm looking to get back into snowboarding after a 4 year break. Im going to be doing 70% all-mountain and 30% park (mostly jumps). Would you go with Mercury or Asymulator for a quiver of one? Thanks! Definitely the Mercury, I think it would match the sort of riding you do perfectly. It isn't cheap but you get a lot of board for what you pay. The Asymulator is fun, but I would only choose if it you mainly ride park with much less all mountain riding.
Hey man LOVE the content. Im looking at for a do it all board and Im torn between the Capita Mercury and the Ride Warpig. I lean more to mountain riding (2/3) but I want to progress in the park. Out of those options which would you prefer? Open to other suggestions from you as well but definitely leaning towards those two.
Thanks! Unless you really like flat/rocker boards, I would definitely choose the Mercury. Much more pop, better edge hold and a better ride switch. The Jones Mountain Twin th-cam.com/video/afWdk6Af6DU/w-d-xo.html would be a very similar option that is quite close to the Mercury in specs as well.

The 159 would work with size 12's, just wide enough to handle the boots but still will feel quick edge to edge. It could have a bit of a learning curve, but I think that it would be a great long term choice, that will help you advance as far as you want - you won't feel like you are going to grow out of the board.

Thanks! It was all filmed at Big White in BC Canada - as well as the Mountain Twin review. Both are pretty solid choices, I liked the Mercury more, though I haven't ridden the newer Mountain Twin (with spoon on the nose and tail), though overall they are very similar boards. Medium stiff flex, camber with a bit of rocker on the nose and tail, sintered base and ride well everywhere. If you could find one on sale I would just get whichever is better value or you like the look better, as they are pretty much the same thing.
Looking at a 2022 Mercury 158w . Being a stiffer board was it hard loading up camber to engage pop? How about doing quick skate like Ollie’s ?
this is a great review. next year's mercury will come in wide sizes, so i can finally get on one with my size 12 boots. one question though. if i shifted the bindings forward half an inch to counter the setback, would it basically be like riding a true twin (save the longer nose vs tail outside the contact points)? or is the sidecut also setback half an inch, so moving my stance forward would be putting myself off-center in the sidecut? am i just overthinking a negligible detail that i won't notice while riding? would love to rock this thing in the park, so i wanted to be sure. thanks!
I am not 100% sure on if the sidecut is setback or not, or if you can just move the bindings forward to cancel it out. I would just ride it for a bit on the recommended stance to get used to it, switch never felt weird to me on it at all.
I ride mine almost only in the park now, and I was riding it on the narrowest inserts with my Step On bindings, and have now have regular Cartels back on it with recommended on the back, and narrowest on the front, even though I spend a fair bit of time taking off or landing switch - no problems at all for me - I think you could probably just imagine it is a true twin and it will feel like it!

Thanks! I don't have a tape measure with me, but I now ride it with the narrowest stance on the 157, which feels nice for me, and on most boards I am around 20.5-21 inches wide.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who had to get used to how it turned. I'm not sure why, but for some reason my first few runs on my 2019 Mercury (same board with different graphics) I found it kind of hard/weird to turn compared to my Rossignol One LF and Nitro Team boards. I assume it has something to do with the structured base.
If I had to guess I think it would be the change from a full camber board to a shorter effective edge with rocker on the ends, and the bump in the middle - but I like it now I am used to it.
@@SnowboardRobot Interesting. It does have a shorter effective edge than my other boards. Never thought of that. I'd think it would be the opposite, where the longer effective edged boards would be harder to turn.
Would you recommend the capita mercury or nitro team if I am 5’8, 160 lbs and wear a size 7.5 boot? I currently also have the union strata bindings in small. I mainly like doing the occasional side hit, ripping down on hard groomers, as well as backcountry and like tossing in butters from time to time but no rails. Too old lol. Also what size board for either of those two or any other board you may advise? Thank you. Love your reviews and I really appreciate the extra footage you include at the end of each review. Thanks! I would probably choose the Nitro Team in the 152 as the first choice. Although both will do really well at the sort of riding you described, the Team will have a more solid feel carving on groomers (because of the camber), but the main thing that give the Team an advantage is the width. The Team is quite a bit narrower, so for those smaller boots it will have a much nicer and quicker feel edge to edge. Although technically the flex rating is stiffer than the Mercury (7/10 compared to 6.5/10), to me the Mercury felt stiffer.
Though if you went with the Mercury 153, the wider width and reverse camber nose and tail will do a bit better in powder.... it just might be the tiniest bit more work on groomers. Most of this was filmed at Big White in BC!

I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a 155 because I was only considering my weight and not the width so thank you for that as well. Do you think it would be ok if I got the 155? Or do you think 152 should be my limit? And I was thinking about weather to go to whistler/black comb or LAAX for about a week this winter but you sold me on any part of BC lol. Cheers!
Thanks for the video! I’ve been going back and fourth on sizing. I’m 6’2” 175lbs, so I hit in the 59 or 61. I like to ride everything and am expected to get a lot of powder this year in Alaska. Leaning towards the 61 because of my height but worried it might be too big and stiff to butter and still do tricks. I saw a taller team rider Kevin backstrom is 6’ 140lbs and rides a 157 Mercury, so is also on the lower end of that weight range. I’m of course no where near his skill level and he could probably kill it on a piece of driftwood. Anyway, would love your recommendations on sizing if you have time. Thanks!
That's a tough one - I think you will get good float even on the 159, though any size will still need a bit of effort to butter. The bigger 161 will give you good float, but I think that you might get a better all around board with the 159, and you could just set the bindings all the way back when there is tons of snow.

Wanted your advice... I’m low intermediate rider looking for a board with a park focus that can handle the rest of the mountain incl. powder if I’m lucky & I need solid edge hold for riding in icy NZ conditions.
I like the Mercury’s design to do everything but I think this is too much board for my ability level prob way too stiff.
My issue is finding a board to suit my narrow stance I ride 20” wide. I’m 5.9” 155 pounds size 9 boot.
Would appreciate any suggestions?
Thanks! Have a look at the Capita Outerspace Living, it has a very similar camber profile as the Mercury, and a softer flex (5/10). I am not sure what the minimum stance is, though I would guess that it would be fairly close to 20 inches, or maybe just a bit over. The other board that might be a good option is the Jones Frontier, similar in profile but with a bit of spoon on the nose and tail.

The main difference would be that the Super 8 has a much more pronounced directional shape, as well as the profile. Lots of rocker on the nose, and camber in the back, while the Mercury is close to a twin in shape and profile. Hey mate, have you ridden the mega merc yet? If so your thoughts on it? I've been looking at the mercury for a while but the mega mercury has me intrigued.
I haven't ridden it yet, though I want to - it looks like it has similar changed like the DOA/Super DOA - lighter, faster, way more expensive.
I'll see when I ride it, but the regular Mercury is still a light and quick board anyway.
Any negatives or anything you would improve about the board? It's so funny. I have the same exact setup although I still haven't gotten to try t out with the slow start to the season here in the north east. Sounds like Khruangbin at the end ;)
No real negatives in how it rides, and is seems quite tough considering that I seem to regularly hit it rocks and logs etc - the main downside would be the price, its pretty expensive.

I weigh 165-175 depending on the week lol - with size 9.5 boots
I want something responsive and quick in the trees but also has enough pop to Ollie a slow sign. I live in Ontario, so float on powder is secondary - but I do plan on travelling with it to the Rockies for years to come. Ideally I want an all mountain / side hit slayer that is still butterable and fun on smaller hills
I think that the 155 will be the best choice for the sort of riding you are talking about, it'll be quick and easy to turn, and when you get to the rockies just set the bindings all the way back.
@snowboardrobot How does the float in powder compare to say a JonesMind Expander? ( given you have ridden a mind expander)
The Mind Expander floats way better in powder, the flat/rocker and giant nose means there is no effort needed to keep it up at all. I never actually set the bindings on the Mercury all the way back, so I'm sure I could get some more float out of it if I had to, but it is still much more of a do everything board compared to the Mind Expander. I would really like to try the Ultra Mind Expander though, mostly to see what it is like having camber with the same shape. I think that the Ultra would probably fix the things I didn't like so much (edge hold/stability).
Great review! I am 71kg/175cm, mostly riding in Japan. Looking for a all-mountain freeride board. Would you recommend it? If yes, what size? Can it handle Pow without too much rear leg fatigue? Or would recommend a different board? Thanks
Thanks! Yeah the 157 would be a good balance between float in powder, and good for all-mountain riding. If there was a crazy day that got loads of snow, I would just set it all the way back anyway, though it does float well with a centered stance anyway. I haven't noticed my back leg getting tired riding this one at all. Another option would be the Nitro Fusion, snowboardrobot.com/snowboards/nitro-fusion/ it rides that sort of terrain just as well.

I’m 6’, 150lbs, 10.5 (reduce footprint), Burton Photon boots and Gensis bindings.
I’m Intermediate to advance, snowbording about 12 years, 8 days a year.
Most of time I’m on slope, some small jumps some of the lips, some curving...
Powder when possible, never park.
I like to ride short boards around the 153 and that what I’m thinking about the Mercury.
Considering my riding style and the fact that I perfer very maneuverable board, do you think the 153 is the right choise?
Hmm, with the rocker sections on the nose and tail, it rides like a shorter board anyway, at least to me. I think that the 155 would be a better option for powder, but if you like shorter boards, you could just set the 153 all the way back if there is a whole lot of snow.

Hey there. Great job on the reviews, very well done! I bought a 21 Mercury 155, but I'm second guessing the size. I'm 5'6" 165-170lbs. I'm in there on the weight range for the 155, but it feels a little big given the length, and nose and tail width. I'm a little over the weight range of the 153, but thinking it may be ok given it's close to the specs of my old terrain wrecker. I ride mainly in VT, tend to bomb, like jumping, and I get in the trees whenever I can. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks! The 155 might be on the bigger size, but the only tradeoff might be a bit more effort in the trees, the length will keep it more stable on jumps and when you ride fast. If you were able to swap it for the 153 it might get be a bit easier to move around, and even with the weight range it would still stay solid. Really both options would be alright I think.
How does the Mercury feel compared to the terrain wrecker? I’m looking to upgrade to a new all Mtn board. Most of my riding will consist of bombing groomers, but I also want a board that will be nimble enough in the trees
@@dandawley I ended up going with the mega Mercury. In general, the Mercury will be more stable and better for everything other than pow and trees. The natural rocker in the middle of the TW helps in tight spaces and with float. I love both boards and either will be great choices. Just depends if you favor camber or rocker

Thanks, I never noticed any chatter at high speed, it feels pretty stable. The first couple of shots of here have me riding pretty quickly (though it's in powder).

Snowboard Robot I have one! It rips and floats like crazy. Unfortunately this season the Lake Tahoe area where I ride hasn’t seen too many powder days so I haven’t been able to really test it out in its natural environment, but on groomers it carves like a dream. I hope you’re able to get on one soon because it’s a ton of fun in the deep stuff.
Great review man, Im looking into this board or the jones all mountain twin or yes typo. I ride similar to you, I love to hit everything. I'm 5'10 155-160 boot size 10.5. Could I get your input on what you think the board I should go with?
Thanks! Both the Jones and the Typo are pretty similar in design/camber/flex, and I haven't ridden the Typo, but I would go for the mountain twin because it has a proper sintered base, worth it for only $50 more I think. Also if you look at the 2021 mountain twin, it will have a little bit of spoon on the nose and tail, so it might be a tad smoother turning.

Thanks! Nah I don't ride with any forward lean. If I had a dedicated carving board I would because I like the more aggressive feel, but not for everyday riding.
Hi, nice review . I'm looking for the Mercury, i'm in the limbo between beginner and intermediate snowboarder. Now i'm riding a capita outerspace living, do you think the mercury it's too difficult to ride for my level?
The Mercury is pretty much just a stiffer, faster upgraded Outerspace Living, so if you like how that rides, you should be fine on the Mercury. You might find it a bit harder to move around at first with the stiffer flex/slightly wider waist width, but it is a good board that you will be able to push your riding a long way on.

Awsome review! Would you help me choosing between Outerspace living and mercury? I'm doing snowboarding for 3 years. For me jumps are the most fun, i can grab, do 180's, 360's are the goal now, but i think i could handle with a little training. I don't have snowparks in my country, so i mostly jump off natural hits, kickers. Butters look fun, but i know just one or two. I don't mind chargin with speed or riding casual. I want to get into more jumping though. Is the mercury too much for me? Or maybe some other board? (Gnu space case for example, i have an offer for burton custom mystery 2017, but idk)
The Outerspace Living would be a good option, it has a pretty similar camber to the Mercury, but is a bit softer and a bunch cheaper because it has a simpler core and slower base. The main thing to check with that though is it has way narrower waist widths, so it might depend on the size of the boots you wear. What size boots do you have and whats your weight/height?

@@mihneamitrofan4905 The 156 would be an option for those size boots, but that would be about as narrow as you would want to go. If the DOA is an option though, thats an easy win. The DOA will do all that riding you need, has a flex softer than the Mercury and has a faster base than the Outerspace Living. 156 would be a good all-round size for jumps, and riding everywhere else.

I really like both - but I would choose the Mercury if you want something that feels a bit stiffer (at least to me) and if you think you might ride it in a bit more powder. The rocker sections on the Mercury will help it float with less effort.
did you set back your stand at all in order to ride the deeper snow? it looks like a great daily driver board
I didn't really set it back, but I had the back foot on recommended, and the front foot on the narrowest set of inserts. It is a great board for everything, now that I ride it in the park quite a bit I am on the narrowest stance for both bindings.
I'm having a hard time deciding between the Capita Mercury and the Jones Ultra Mountain Twin. I consider myself an advanced rider. I'm 6'0, 200lbs with size 10 boots. I like to ride fast, carve, ride steep lines, tight trees, hit side hits, small to medium jumps, and butter here and there. Are these boards good choices? Would you recommend one over the other? Or something else?
I have ridden the Ultra Mountain Twin for a few runs now, enough to get an idea of how it rides but not a in a super detailed way. Technically it is quite similar to the Mercury in camber/flex/weight/base, but I would choose the Mercury, it was a little bit easier to move around, and felt a little more lively to me.
The Ultra Mountain Twin would definitely be the choice if you are a really aggressive rider who needs a lot of performance at high speed in steep terrain, but might be a bit more work for side hits and buttering.
I think the Mercury would still be the best choice, it is stiff enough to handle steep terrain and high speeds, but there will be a little extra flex that will make it a bit more fun for side hits and more freestyle riding. I still love mine, I don't really have a board that I think can replace it.

I'm currently in the market for a Capita Mercury snowboard and could use some advice. I typically wear US size 11 boots sometimes 11.5. I also have Rome Katana bindings in L/XL. Now, the big question is whether I should go for a wide or non-wide board. Any insights or recommendations based on your experiences would be greatly appreciated!
I think you would be best off going for a wide option, you are definitely in the range for them.
You should review the yes typo. Interested to see how it compares to the mercury

Ahh nice! I haven't ridden either, but the Standard looks like it would be a good step up from the Assassin. A bit stiffer, but the extra volume and that super set back stance option looks like it would be good for powder. Other than that, I think both would ride roughly the same as the Assassin because the profiles are pretty similar, though going to something stiffer makes fast riding and powder a whole bunch easier for me.
Snowboard Robot I forgot to mention the capita is a definite option. I’m just worried going from the soft assassin will turn me into a rookie. Is this board really labour intensive as far as having to really push it to turn?
@@MrCal93h Oh nah the Mercury is super nice and easy to turn, and it isn't crazy stiff at all, but it is a solid step up from the Assassin (you can pretty much ignore both Salomon and Capitas flex/10 ratings). It looks like it would be really similar to the Typo in specs.

The DOA is primarily because I think the deck graphics are so damn cool! Did you get the chance to ride the 2020 DOA? I've been advised against it as it will apparently sink in the Pow...but the graphics....
Thanks! The latest DOA I have ridden was the 2019 model, but they haven't changed it in ages, after it kept winning all those awards. The Mercury does better in powder, with the rocker nose, setback stance and slightly wider waist width. Even though the flex rating doesn't make it seem too different from the DOA, it is a lot stiffer, even when both boards are broken in. Also the Mercury is pretty hard to find especially at this time of the year, the DOA would be much easier to get.

It will be noticably stiffer than the DOA, but I think it would be the better choice if you want to ride harder/faster, and it will be slightly better in fresh snow as well.
Would you recommend this for a beginner? I'm 5'10 63kg roughly 140lb not really sure what size would be beneficial. East coast so it's a bit icy out here.
If you are starting out I would probably choose the Outerspace Living over the Mercury bit.ly/36VYtBG - it has the same camber profile, but a softer flex and is a bit narrower so it will turn with less effort. I think the 154cm would be ideal for you, or the 155 wide if you have size 11 or bigger boots.
What’s your opinion of the Niche Maelstrom? How does the “death grip” compare to magne-traction?
I haven't ridden any Niche boards for a few years, and haven't ever been on the Maelstrom. The features make it sound good, and the few Niche boards I have ridden felt quite light and snappy. I really can't tell or notice how much the death grip adds to the edge hold of the board - I'm sure it does a little, but it doesn't really have that specific grippy tearing feeling of magne-traction or Never Summer boards.

I would have a look at the Jones Mountain Twin - th-cam.com/video/afWdk6Af6DU/w-d-xo.html I found it to be very very similar, but with a softer flex, even though the specs might say differently. I haven't ridden the 2021 model though, which has a few changes from the older models.
Hi! I am 6’0 175 lbs and I would say I am in between intermediate and advanced! Im a size 12, i ride extremely aggresive, fast, love the powder, but also enjoy freestyling. Ive ridden a lot of boards 159 but see people (including yourself) recommending the 157, what should I do?
I'd go bigger, seeing that you ride fast and like bigger boards, as well as the extra width of the 159 will suit the size 12s a bit more.
Hello! I am looking to buy the Mercury, although I was recommended to buy the 155 weighing 73 kg. What’s your thought on this?
Yeah I am roughly similar weight to you, I bought the 157 because I knew that I wanted to ride it in a lot of powder, otherwise I would have bought the 155 for everyday/park riding.
I can’t decide between this or the DOA. I’m an intermediate rider looking to progress in the park this upcoming season. Nothing crazy, just some butters/jibs and small jumps/side hits. I’ve heard the DOA is a little more forgiving but from what I’ve seen of the mercury I’m becoming more and more unsure. Any thoughts?
I would definitely go for the DOA. There isn't much that is forgiving about the Mercury, so the riding you want to do will be harder work. The DOA will be a safe bet.

I have been riding the regular DOA and the Jones mountain twin this season and both feel pretty good. I’m looking to purchase maybe the Capita Mercury or Super DOA. Would you say the Mercury is more aggressive than the Super DOA? Also Is the Mercury much more aggressive than the regular doa and mountain twin? I’m between intermediate and advanced skill level, 5’9, 175-180 pounds, 10.5 boot, ride 60% all mountain 40% park also want to hit natural features, side hits, and butter around. What size should I be looking at in the Mercury or SDOA? Thank you much in advance for the advice it’s really appreciated!
I haven't ridden the Super DOA myself, but from what I have heard from friends who have ridden it is that is isn't much stiffer than the DOA at all, just made with high end materials. To me, the Mercury and the Mountain Twin felt very similar when riding to me, though I think that the Mercury felt a bit lighter. I would stick around the 155 size for you, if you rode less park then maybe you could go bigger, but a 155 should be pretty safe. Either way both the Mercury and Super DOA are pretty expensive, but their specs are fairly similar.

@@SanDiegoCrow I have only ridden on the Atlas bindings for a little while, but the other option that would suit it really well is the Burton Cartels snowboardrobot.com/binding-reviews/burton-cartel/ I have used them on the Mercury the whole time and I think the flex/features suit it really well, though anything mid/stiff should make a good match.

I haven't ridden the Mega Merc yet, but the regular Mercury is very capable. As long as you are fine changing from mostly hybrid (rocker between the feet) to camber, then I think that any of the boards in this video would do everything you need - th-cam.com/video/KAu4WJfGYnw/w-d-xo.html

I haven't ridden the Algorhythm, but it looks quite similar in specs to the Mercury. I would even consider the 155 Mercury, so that you get some better float in powder and some more stability, but the 153 would be alright if you like shorter boards.

The 158 would probably be the best all around option, unless your riding is just big lines and really fast speeds all the time.

I actually really liked the Free Thinker, it is light, poppy and fun, but it would only replace a Mercury if I only really rode it in the park. I guess the main thing would be if you want the benefits of a full camber board like the Free Thinker.

Plus I’ve been riding switch a lot more so figured the true twin of FT would be fun and it’s stiffness seems comparable to Mercury so thought it’d be a good step. Love jumps, trees and charging I’m not into rails or boxes though so I may have to rethink this 🤔

I like this better than the Mountain Twin, I have kept mine and have no plan on selling or upgrading it - though technically the Mountain Twin is very similar.
Hi, how would You compare Yours Salomon Ultimate Ride to Capita Mercury? Are there any advantsges of one over another?
The Ultimate Ride did feel a bit softer once it was broken in, but it still has a way more aggressive camber feel, which I think it because it has such a long effective edge. The Mercury has a much different feel turning, and floats with much less effort in deeper snow.
Though I have demoed the new 2021 Ultimate Ride, which has a setback stance, a bit softer flex and taper, and I liked it much more than the old one.

I was wearing 9.5us / 27.5 Salomons, no toe or heel drag - though it is relatively wider board anyway.

I have only ridden the Beast once, and when I rode it I found it quite stiff, though others that I have flexed didn't seem to be as stiff as the one I rode. Overall I would say that the Mercury is going to be softer than the Beast.

Nope, no problems at all, even on the narrowest inserts with low binding angles (+9 -6).
5’ 11” - 11.0 boots - 160lbs, what size do you recommend? 155 or 157
If you want a do everything size, the 155 would be good, but if you want to ride more powder, ride faster the 157 will have a bit more float and stability.
Hows the park with this? Pressing , jibbing and jumps?
Oh, I just added another video of the Mercury, with a bit more park riding in it. It felt very solid and stable on jumps, though I would only really straight air XL's, but I could spin on L and smaller jumps. I really didn't mind how it rode on rails, I got used to it pretty quickly. I struggle to press it, it is a bit stiff for me to be able to get a proper press.

I would choose the 155 as the first choice, it will still turn quickly and because of the rocker rides a bit smaller than you expect. I wouldn't worry about the waist width, it isn't wide enough to slow the edge to edge turns down.
