- A short hiatus from van life while we regroup back here in the UK getting ready for our next adventure.
This episode delves deep into our discoveries as a family travelling Europe in a van to over 30 countries and more than 25,000 miles, in two of our self converted vans, Koti and Safari. We share with you what we have learned so far, our favourite spots and best Euro van life experiences.
It has been an extraordinary time to be on the road, a journey of learning and of adventure. We will show you some really old stuff and take you to places with immense beauty as well as heading to some Dark frightening places too. We will drive you along some of the greatest roads in the world and show you where the best of Europe’s wildlife is. We will also tell you where are favourite park up spots are. Travelling way north and far south. Join us on this trip of a life time.
We are the Newbys, John, Tara, and our two little boys Crusoe and Sawyer. We’re a family who are pursuing an alternative lifestyle, and after two years of full time travel we’ve taken root on an abandoned farm in Northern Portugal which we’re renovating into our dream off-grid homestead. We release new videos every Sunday sharing our story, and we’d love for you to be a part of it with us. Big mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, clean seas, 2000 Islands, and villages, beautiful villages everywhere you go. People is smiling and helping the travelers. I was surprised that Finland was Johns favorite. I live in Finland. Maybe I shouldn't take everything here for granted. Big forest and the wildlife is just something natural for me. This was an eyeopener for me. Thank you!

Dear Tara, John, Crusoe and Sawyer, thank-you for sharing in this videos the best part of Europe, 30 countries you visited in 18 months, have to say Greece was a show stopper having been there myself, but all in all there are beautiful places, you just have to look for them, enjoying to see Crusoe so little then, the best part he chose Portugal as his best travel which turns out you settle there and live there full time. A brilliant video - lovely to reflect and be reminded of your incredible journeys. It has also given us food for thought in planning our trip eg will stay longer in Greece and maybe not get the ferry from Albania to Italy but travel north through Croatia - perhaps we can discuss?!! Every country has it's own beauty and loved seeing them all. But, passed them too quickly, I understand with a baby it's not easy. Also, I couldn't read your comments because it went too fast. Otherwise I love your vids. I started watching your vids during your home renovation in Portugal and went back to Finland. You are a wonderful family, very inspirational! We moved to SW France not far from the Pyrenees in 2004, having lived for 28 years in Scotland. So it has been an adventure. Now we plan to sell up next year, downsize and buy a motorhome/camper van. We love the idea of getting away and visiting, exploring as many places as possible while we can. We will be 69 next year! I love your videos, but think this one was my favourite. I love the info you pack in, very helpful. (eg I would not have known Croatia fines wild campers.) Never thought of touring Greece but it's now on my list along with the National Parks of Portugal now. Thanks for the inspiration.
