Great video, though I do have a few comments: - Camping with a van/motorhome isn't a problem, not at all. Almost everywhere outside towns/cities, you can park for free as long as you like. Just avoid tourist attractions :) - The rural facilities (toilets) that requires a credit card, usually don't charge you. It's a way to register you in case there are damages done to the propertly, easing investigations. - "The ferry to Lofoten". Which one? There are more than one way - ie ferry from Bodø to Moskenes (Western Lofoten) or drive E6 further north, taking the ferry to Lødingen and driving west. - The ferry ticketing system has changed. Currently there are no charges for passengers, and best of all: if you go on a ferry that carries less than 100.000 passengers per year, it's completely free. This is PERFECT if you wanna visit the rural islands in Nordland and Troms. - You can drink water from rivers/lakes almost everywhere. Just avoid still waters, and rivers in towns/cities, and you'll be fine :) - You can bathe whereever you like - just make sure you're not nude, cause there are restrictions for that
I just found you and have subbed. This Norway video is very special. What a trip for you! I spent just a week in Norway way back in the autumn of 1970, going by train from Oslo over to Bergen, and I absolutely loved it...the scenery, the people, and the "sense of joy" that wafts around on the wind there. My favorite memory is being in the middle of wild open and suddenly very snowy land...up in the mountains on the train to Bergen, which surprisingly stopped right there in the middle of nowhere. The conductor announced that several children on the train had never before seen snow, and that they were being allowed to *go out and play* for about ten minutes! All passengers were invited to step outside to walk or play in the snow and enjoy the excitement of the children experiencing the snow for the first time ever. Ten minutes turned to twenty, and then we all were called to go back inside. Everybody clapped and cheered for the ecstatic children on the day that everybody there would remember forever. I think it's wonderful that your baby has already had so many Happy Norway experiences, and it's great you plan to return! Thanks for taking us all along. :)
Thanks, Evie, great to hear from you, and terrific to know you subscribed. Thank you!! And, we LOVED your magical story of the train and the children, what a special memory to have and we can only imagine how much joy it brought to everyone on the train that day. Those moments are what life is made of!! Tomorrow we have another guide video coming out, this time about Finland, it was AMAZING!! Pretty soon the two of us will become three (little baby boy on the way imminently), and then we will be looking to build a bigger van and head back out on the adventure. Can't wait. Great to know you are here with us. 🤩🙏
We thought so too, and man did we cherish every moment. Thank you so much for watching and writing to us, means a lot to us. You have a very beautiful country and we can’t wait to come back. All the best!
Yes, it is very expensive with food, snacks and drinks. Even the Norwegians cry out and drives to the border shops in Sweden. But the landscape is out of this world. The people are so friendly & helpful. Don´t miss out on Norway!
Norway is amazing. We spent weeks there and will certainly return. Crusoe will need to have a look around plus we need to see the norther lights too. John lived in northern Finland for some time back in the day so is basically half Scandinavian!! Can’t wait until we get back there. Thanks for watching Meinart.
Oh wow Peter, we can imagine what an incredible life chapter that must have been. We absolutely loved Norway. We will look forward to hearing about it all one day, perhaps over a Frontier at the Chequers!
Thanks Glenys! It is indeed a dramatic scenery. One of our favourite places. Great to hear from you friend, we are so appreciative of your support!😊🙏❤️
You two certainly do wonderful tours. I love your conversations about your trip as well as the pictures. I had seen Norway before from a couple of other van lifers. (Indie Projects and Ex-pawers) but yours was truly awesome.
Hi Bev! Yes, we have watched those guys too. Norway is an amazing country to travel, and we could say that Norway is the reason we started this travel life. Long story that one!! As always friend thanks for watching and for your support, we are so very grateful to have you along for the journey. ❤️🙏👍
Excellent! So wonderful to see you two (3!) while vicariously traveling thru Norway. Spot on travel tips too...looking forward to more! Hugs and hearty handshakes!
Kathy!!!!!!! So wonderful to see your name pop up, thank you for writing!! We’re patiently waiting for the little one to make an appearance. Hope you’re so well friend, we miss you and the world we were in this time last year almost! Big hugs xx
Great little video. The IG spots, i.e. Pulpit Rock, Troll's Tongue etc, are always packed during tourist season so they had to slow things down a bit with expensive and few parking lots. There are thousands of lesser known places, so there's so much to see where you can be alone. As for the Atlantic Road - it looks good from above and it's a really cool road if you like roads. If you want scenery, however, you really should go further north and take the Helgelands route. It's amazing. Truly.
Thanks Lee! Great to hear from you again. How are things with you? We loved Norway, as you know, the Scandi countries are amongst our favorites. Where is your favourite country?
@@TheNewbys Things are good thanks although the current lock down I feel is the hardest, just want to get on with things and be busy again. As for our favourites, well we loved South Africa but that was some time ago, like Tara my wife, Sara, was pregnant with our daughter at the time, she's now 17! I think our favourite is Greece and the Greek islands, always so beautiful. Norway though is definitely on our tick list and if possible we'd love to do it in our Hiace too. It really looks like they cater amazingly for campers.
That’s great to hear Lee, glad you guys are hanging in there, although we totally agree - this lockdown is feeling pretty tough and never ending. Do let us know if you head in the direction of Norway at some stage, especially if it’s in a HiAce! They’re amazingly set up for that kind of travel and it’s very easy and incredibly fulfilling. Hang in there and thanks again for being a part of the adventure - the next chapter should be starting imminently and we can’t wait! Take care.
Greetings from Norway! Love your video`s, find them inspirational and fun to watch. Nice to get a perspective from someone that don`t live here. We are starting our build in a couple of days now, getting ready for the summer, to get our own adventures in this beautiful country. Thank you for your input and high vibe energy 💙
Hey Daniel!! Great to hear from you, and thank you for your amazing comments on our videos. Means a lot to us! We are very jealous that you call Norway home, it’s one of the most beautiful countries we have ever visited. Good luck with your build and keep in touch, we’re very excited to have you along for the ride.
Love this! Cant help being a bit proud of norway. Kinda funny that you mention we have the best roads as we norwegians love to complaint about our roads 😅
My dream trip. I’ve travelled to Norway 4 times and heading there again for a short 5 day trip in August. They are some of the best trips I’ve had in my lifetime but as you mentioned time holds you back without a camper and the costs are so high. One day I’m going to purchase a camper van 🚐 and do what you’ve done 🇳🇴😊❤️
just come across you guys and really enjoyed the content of this video, will help us with our planning for a Norway trip. Only negative was the background music whilst your were talking, distracted a bit from your great advise. Will be watching more and subscribing

Thank you for such an informative video! You've really helped plan our trip in Norway so far, and looking forward to heading to Svalbard tomorrow! Just wondering where you left your van when you flew from Trømso? Thanks again for sharing! - P x
What an amazing video! My partner and I are planning to head there in our van at the end of October. Can I ask what time of the year you went and how long you spent there?
That’s so exciting to hear! Thanks so much for tuning in and for leaving us such a kind comment. We were there in early august and we spent about three weeks there. Hope you have an amazing trip, let us know how it goes! 🚐 🇳🇴 ☀️
Thank you for all of the info that you've shared from your travels. Can you share how you packed your travel suitcase to be gone for a long duration. I'm trying to determine what I need...we will be traveling for 3 months. Netherlands, Norway, Denmark... Everything needs to be in one suitcase. Can you provide any recommendations or videos that might help? Thanks so much.
I would guess that some of the parking fee at Trolltunga goes to Red Cross for their countless rescue operations at Trolltunga. Turist are often not equipped for a whole day in the mountain, and it has become a problem for the local Red Cross. Remember that the rescue is free of charge and it can involve a lot of people, ambulances and helicopters.
you do not have to register with autopass, but in many cases it is cheaper to have an autopass chip. since you then get discounts in many cases. without an autopass, you will receive a bill in the post, with additional fees for postage +++. remember to add an additional agreement for ferries if you want to use the autopass lane at the ferry terminals. otherwise it will be very expensive. as far as parking is concerned, it is typical for tourist places that there are parking fees (in some places it is very expensive), but if you drive in areas where there are not so many tourists, you do not have to pay and you can park as long as you want. and you can camp freely (not on land used to grow grass or foodand of course not in fenced in areas ) and you must stay at least 300 meters away from built-up areas. I wouldn't want to camp freely in cities or in housing estates, you could be chased away by the police. so my challenge to those who come to Norway in a camper van or with a caravan is to dare to seek out places a little off the busiest tourist roads. for example, in the municipality where I live, we have the highest mountain peak in the county. in the car park there is a parking fee and you risk queuing on the days when there are the most people, but if you drive two to three kilometers past the car park. then it's free to park and you can walk in beautiful nature with almost no people around. there are many places that are well worth visiting that are not crowded with people. as far as food is concerned, I encourage you to use food stores such as Menu, Spar, Coop, Rema 1000 also. is much cheaper than using petrol in starskjones, kiosks, on ferries and so on
Thank you Sondre! That’s great information, thanks for sharing it! We LOVEDour trip to Norway and will be back one day! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi, we are planning trip to Norway 2023 from UK. Ferry to Holland and then ferry onto Kristainsand. With regard to your link to Autopass for tolls did you register with a toll service provider (toll tag) or go for the Epass 24? Thanks
Hi Guys. Thanks for this awesome video. I'm planning a self-drive (Campervan) trip from Oslo along the West coast to the top of Norway (Skarsvag), then cross to Finland all the way to Helsinki, across to Stockholm, Sweden and back to Oslo (approx 4 weeks), so this was extremely helpful. So now I have two important questions: (1) How much money would I need to take from the bank I'll need to rob, and (2) if you could not sleep in your van at the parking spaces, where did you sleep?
Thanks Anil! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. we also did a fun video or two on Finland. Worth a watch, John lived there for a decade or so. Money - we stocked up on food in Denmark, in a big way, this meant that in Norway we were spared from the huge costs of everything. Finland and Sweden are also cheaper. Slow travel, EUR50 a day ish. Sleeping - use the Park4night app. Very helpful. Lots of wild camping spots, especially in Finland. 👍👍
Watching you two presenting this video, I have just realised how to make a beautiful woman look even more beautiful..., just get her pregnant. Sorry John, just had to get that off my chest ! Hope all is going well for all three of you, thx for another good video, stay fit and healthy, greets again from 🇨🇭, S.
To bad almost none of the vloggers visit the proper north which is truly spectacular. Lofoten islands are only "semi south", and the hardcore people aint even close from there. You won't meet the true northeners until you travel to Tromsø and farther north. People are saying they have seen almost whole of the country while stopping on the half way. Most of Norway is north as a poet once said.
Agree with you Hakon, and we hope to return one day. Our plan was to keep heading north but the weather was hard in our small campervan and the sun was shining in Finland! Next time ☺️
We certainly left plenty of cash in Norway. But being on a tight budget it was just smart to stock up on supplies before heading into one of the world most expensive countries! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend.

Thanks
Hi Chris. I think it was toll tag and we did it online. Pretty easy. Have a great trip friend.
Umm, they drives buses in Geiranger, a van shouldn´t be a problem 😁 The parking fees is used for maitenance of the trails etc.
Thanks friend. Huge love to Norway. What an amazing country. Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend.
Why the background music?

Watching you two presenting this video, I have just realised how to make a beautiful woman look even more beautiful..., just get her pregnant.
Sorry John, just had to get that off my chest !
Hope all is going well for all three of you, thx for another good video, stay fit and healthy, greets again from 🇨🇭, S.
Thanks so much! The boy is due VERY soon. We can’t wait!! Appreciate your comment and support. All going very well so far. :) Thank you!
Next time ☺️
Egg is not allowed to bring to Norway.! Welcome back but leave the eggs.🙂
Don't shop until you arrive in Norway. You should leave some money in Norway!!
We certainly left plenty of cash in Norway. But being on a tight budget it was just smart to stock up on supplies before heading into one of the world most expensive countries! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend.
I would like to see the sights, not a bearded man with a baseball cap
