    It's hard to believe we're already wrapping up 2021, but it's here whether we like it or not. With only a few weeks left in the year, it's that time again where we take a look back at all the Chromebooks that released and pick our favorites. This year's been different than most, however, as we've had more Chromebooks release this year than ever before AND we know there are still a boatload more on the way. But, it's November, and that means we need to talk about the best Chromebooks of the year that are available and ready for you to go buy right now.

    I have the completely forgotten Google Pixel Slate with the i5 processor. The Slate accompanied with the keyboard from a Samsung Q1 tablet (remember that blast from the past) makes a great "laptop". The Pixel Slate has had many updates since its launch and is absolutely excellent. The screen is gorgeous,the speakers are great, the processor and ram combination makes the Slate,in my humble opinion unbeatable.

      I agree with this. I would love to see them do some "persona" style daily driver videos. They could cover the hardware specs, then software, and even any customizations.

      I agree, this would be awesome and very helpful. Show what these machines can do and push their limits. Lower models such as the Samsung 4($200 mark) up to $750+. They talk about daily uses, but show it and go more in depth with the apps and software.

    Based on your early reviews, I bought the ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5500 from Best Buy. I love it and feel you accurately described it. Was only available at BB at first - and was $569 originally. Waited for a sale and grabbed mine at $439 and now I see them going for $399 !! Guess it confirms that this is a bumper year for good models and that market may have been saturated in response to ZOOM crisis. Can't believe what a deal this is.

    I just bought my first Chromebook the Asus CX5500 on sale for $399.00 at Best Buy, it was a good deal so I went for it. I'm still learning how to navigate it. It's a bit different than the Windows I'm use to.
    I was kinda nervous and wondering if I had made a good choice even though I had done a lot of research on Chromebooks. After hearing this review I feel better about it.
    I just got really tired of Windows and all the updates and glitches that came with it. Watching your channel really helped me learn about Chromebooks and what to look for when shopping for one. Thank You for the good info.

    I bought my Lenovo Flex 5 / 10th gen Core i3 / 8GB Ram / 128 GB eMMC / 1080p display / in Jan '21. Got it on sale for $349.95 at Costco on sale (last hour of the last day of the sale) and I couldn't be happier with it. I just power washed it earlier this week. I had forgotten how fast this device was/is. All these Chromebooks look great but I don't see the need to upgrade for a while. My next device needs to be all this Flex 5 Chromebook is but with better battery life.

    For the Affordable category, I think the Lenovo Chromebook 3 14" Touch Laptop - Mediatek MT8183 - 4GB Memory - 64GB eMMC laptop (Best Buy- Reg. $319, recently on sale for $150) should at least make honorable mention; it has a brighter, better color display (FHD IPS, 300 nits) than all 3 of the honorable mentions included in the video review. Bought it for my wife recently and I was very impressed with the build quality and the screen.

    I dipped my toe into the Chromebook waters this summer. I picked up a HP x360 14a from Target. I love the 13 battery life! I'm curious, is there a external battery, similar to what you buy for recharging phones, that work for charging Chromebooks? The only downside I have found is that I can't watch my purchased Apple shows.

    • @radepicsmasheraj
      @radepicsmasheraj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are external power banks that work for charging Chromebooks as well, you'll just want to make sure that it has power delivery (PD) or similar technology, and that said power delivery output is the same or greater than the amount required for your device. I think the wattage required for that specific device is 45 watts, but you can check your charger to see what it is rated for. (watts = amps x volts) You can use a power bank that is rated for higher than the wattage of your charger, as long as the voltage is the same (within 1 volt difference) or it knows how to adjust the voltage. It's best to pick a power bank that can adjust to your device's needs.

      @cobaltblue5523 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What questions do you have He has made a tutorial about it I believe a very short one but what it really comes down to is what we use it for specifically like what programs apps and stuff like that also what's your budget and then you can narrow it down even further to size so to give you a head start there's some really good deals going on right now if you're going into the lower end like anywhere from 100 to 200 don't get anything with a processor lower than Intel n4000 and as for media tech don't get anything lower than the media tech MT 8183 anything that or above is is okay again you have to ask yourself what do we use it for I personally test it out the end Intel n4020 and the media tech 8183 I believe the Intel is faster around a little bit smoother so I would lean more towards Intel. That's just like kind of a quick intro there's a lot of things to consider but if you answer those simple questions I could help you get started cuz I've done a ton of research on Chromebooks tablets and laptops also if you need anything with Windows programs don't get a Chromebook get a Windows laptop

Recently Amazon lost an ordered chromebook of mine meaning I had to take the a refund and since the price had gone up considerably (£300) since the original purchase, it was now out of reach. Originally disappointed, I looked again at chromebooks and learned that the original chrombook I was looking at before this purchase, which was out of my budget, was reduced considerably and now am able to afford it. I suspect because the recent CES event days after purchase. Loads of new chromebooks were released/ unveiled and companies want to get rid of old stock meaning a discount. Google's Productivity tools like Docs, Sheets and Slides are good but limited. Similarly, the free web version of MS OFFICE is usable but limited. The subscription fee for the full (premium) web version is very expensive. Therefore, like Apple's Mac OS, Google's Chrome OS too needs a native version of MS OFFICE. Google should strike a deal with Microsoft and get them to launch a version of the MS OFFICE for Chrome OS. The full featured OEM version of MS OFFICE should come pre-installed with the Chromebooks. It's the only thing that I miss the most on my Lenovo Chromebook Duet.

    Hi, I am on a budget to buy a laptop and I don’t want to go for Windows because I hate the complexity of the OS, the mandatory updates (I had an Acer Swift 1 which became practically unusable because of these updates), the bad battery life of Windows laptops to name but a few drawbacks.
    So the choice I am currently facing is to buy either an used MacBook Pro or a new Chromebook.
    My question is : Pentium Silver n5030, 8 gigs of ram, IPS FHD touchscreen, 64 gigs of storage and micro SD port to extend the storage, 2 USB 3 ports and two USB C ports, are these specs viable for a Chromebook in 2022? The machine I have spotted is an Acer CB314-1HT.
    I am planning to do some web browsing, light word processing (I am going to install LibreOffice in the Linux container), online education (Duolingo, Coursera, …), emails, audio recording (I have tested my USB audio interface previously on a Chromebook and it worked like a charm, the audio flux was bi-directional and of high quality). What I like in Chromebooks is the touchscreen, the simplicity of the Chrome OS, the long battery life of Chromebooks, …
    Of course, a second hand Macbook will be more Premium and will provide a far larger choice of software, including audio editing software and MS Office. But there is no touchscreen, the support with Mac OS upgrades won’t last very long (with my budget I could buy a Retina MacBook Pro from 2013 to 2015 at the most), there will be no warranty on the machine and I don’t know how many hours the battery will last, which is an issue for portability.
    One of the issues with the Chromebook is that I’ll probably won’t be able to use my old Canon Pixma MG5150 with it, which is too bad because it still works like a charm and cartridges are cheap for this particular model.
    One last point: the Acer I have spotted costs 260 euros, the MacBooks at least 400 euros.
    So please tell me what you think. Thanks 😊
