Well, we made it. 2020 is coming to a close and it's that time of year where we name our favorite Chromebooks for the last 12 months. There have been some great ones and there have been some misses, too. All told, our lineup doesn't look drastically different here at the end of the year than it did back in July when we did our Best Chromebooks of 2020 So Far.
Let's face it, this has been a strange year all around and that means strange things when it comes to Chromebooks, too. In a year where Chromebook demand was higher than ever, pandemic production issues have us finally at a spot where devices are getting on store shelves again, but we haven't seen the number of new devices we were expecting. Regardless, we have our best affordable, mid-range, and premium Chromebook picks to share with you, so let's get to it.

I gave one of my HP 14" X360s to my husband's granddaughter last month. I always like to have a backup handy and I was so pleased with this particular laptop, I felt that gifting one of them made sense. Now I need another backup, and will settle for nothing less than a 14" 2 in 1 with a touchscreen and a backlit keyboard. I need to take a second look at this video so I can write down the device names I might be interested in, then search previous videos in order to get a look at the product. With prices going down for Black Friday and the holiday season, now is a good time for me to pick up a second laptop. Thanks for the list. It will come in handy.

Yea! The Lenovo Chromebook 3 got a mention. I love mine, quiet, battery life in my use is days not hours. Well made doesn't feel cheap. The display fine I've gotten used to it. There certainly are better displays but an entire, functional laptop for $169!

I have just recently started to use Chromebooks and my Chromebook of choice is the base model Pixelbook Go. This device has been more than able to get me through my everyday workflow and has very nicely satisfied with my personal needs. Before buying my Chromebook, I had been on the fence about them because I wasn't quite sure what you can do with a Chromebook.
I started watching review videos or comment videos like this one and as time has gone on I became more and more interested in them. As I became more interested, I then began to ask myself what do I use the most when working on my desktop, and the conclusion of that thought left me with Chrome. I use Chrome on my desktop to access media, work, and most recently cloud gaming.
Since coming to the realization that I use Chrome the most out of any program on my desktop, I purchased my first Chromebook. Since owning my Chromebook, I absolutely love the device. The Chromebook is fast, quiet, long battery life, and I love, love the typing experience on the Pixelbook Go. I started with the base model, one because of price and I thought that if I tried the base model and found that it didn't meet my needs I could always move up; rather than if I started from the top and found that my needs could not be met, then I would be left with no options in my experiment and also I did not want overspend on an experiment.
The Pixelbook Go has been great at multi-tasking, completing my everyday work on teams, and zoom, and an advantage over the iPad is the price/keyboard/and using Zoom while still using Chrome without freezing my video feed. Also while using the Chromebook, I have found that I do not need a full desktop, I can edit my photos on my iPhone, and offline gaming can be accomplished using my Nintendo Switch.

Thank you very much. Based on a similar video you made a few months ago, I went yesterday (Nov 16th, 2020) to my local Best buy and got for $588 including taxes. It's a beauty. It replaces my 2-3 yr old Asus C305, which still works well and it's already on its way to my 7 yr old grandson.

@@NinjaMonkeyPrime Its a great device. The keyboard is the only drawback in my opinion, not the easiest to type on, but useable. Other than that, extremely happy with it. For such a cheap device, its no slouch either.

@@raulmiranda7419 I just got it today and I'm really torn. Seems like a nice device but the ultra small backspace and apostrophe (of all things) is driving me crazy. Just ordered a Lenovo chromebook duet because it's on sale at Best Buy right now, 128GB version for $250! Can't beat that. I had the Samsung Chromebook Pro since it came out (watched your video on it too) and Chrome OS was great but very limited, there were some things that I couldn't do for school but I ended up using it for the 3-4 years I had it. I gave it to my mother and moved back to the Windows World with a Dell XPS 13 9300. It's great to have everything again but I've been wanting a secondary device that supports a pen (for notes) and something bigger to use for media consumption and this definitely stands out over the iPad and Surface Go 2. Hey, I would like to know what would you do in my situation. The galaxy chromebook is $1000 - $200 of black Friday instant rebate -$400 of a trade in discount for my tab s6, so I will only be paying $400 for the chromebook. So what would you do?

I really really really really hope that manufacturers will release Chromebooks with a 16x10 ratio screen. I just don't understand why it didn't become the default screen ratio for computer monitors and laptops??? I've had two different monitors (20" and 25") with a 16x10 ratio. It's such a fantastic ratio that balances between productivity and content viewing.

What happened to the c340/c330? I was looking at it for school children. We want to donate a couple for online learning Ontario, Canada. Upto k12.

This is exactly what I needed! Lol I just saw a expensive list of chrome books and I was like 😬 If I’m spending that much it won’t be a chrome book. I just want something cheap.

Totally agree. I stopped watching / subscribing to this channel because it became obsessed with expensive Chromebooks. If I am going to pay a high price for a Chromebook then I will buy a proper laptop and put Linux on it. This is my first visit to this channel in 2021 and getting on for around a year since last visit.

I bought an Acer chromebook 7 years ago for about $170, it's been amazing for study & work on a daily basis, l use it every day. Only looking a new one because it's no longer receiving updates - otherwise still works fine!! Don't need to spend a fortune. Love my chromebook!

Good video. Can you imagine if they redid the samsung galaxy? Same build but with a 1440p 16:10 screen. Snapdragon or exynos chipset. That would fix both battery and heat issues and it could properly use Android apps. There would finally be a compelling and fully functional chromebook

What chromebook has the absolute best web cam regardless of price? or would it actually just be smarter to get an external webcam? Can you do that with a chromebook?

    • @mikewalters
      @mikewalters 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@Joseph Sakata Thank you. I really appreciate the response & help. Good to know you can do the external camera with chromebook. I'll at least look at that route... although I'm glad you said the Go is the best option outside of that

The Spin 713 really caught my eye in the mid-price range but when I went to look at buying it the price is up to $780. Couldn't find it anywhere for the $629 MSRP, let alone on sale. Do you know why that is?
    Thanks for the great video
